Huge bonuses for Wall Street in times when people are suffering don't help the political environment for the party in power. Obama should come out strongly against huge bonuses where taxpayer money is involved. He should have insisted that this be put into law, and called the obstructionists on the carpet who would oppose it. Tax money is indeed the people's money and should have been focused on Main Street primarily (i.e. gov't-backed Small Business Loans, etc) and not on Wall Street.

President Obama should focus on the economy and terrorism. While it is a laudable goal to 'ensure every American,' it seems most people in polls either don't fully understand what's in the bills OR would prefer not to have the bills signed into law. Pres. Clinton had to make a mid-course correction as well due to voter angst, and survived to fight another day. Politically this White House has bungled its PR campaign, enabling opponents to define it instead of defining their opponents.
