From this i take it that you haven't seen the comments on the judges' score sheets.
Yes, CSO may have come 7th but the comments from a large proportion of the judges were extremely positive, and they commended us on, and i quote: "both the musical originality and also the precision that was displayed throughout the performance."
I respect the fact that you may have your own opinions, but I suggest that you should learn to respect other people's opinions instead of telling them to grow up.
We were also placed 3rd by one judge, just 2 points off of first place.
And this is partly because we "captured the spirit of carnival" because we are there to kick off carnival. carnival isn't about everything being perfect because if it was, it wouldn't be fun, you need freedom. Would it be fun if it was heavily policed so there was no crime and if drinking was banned? i think not. That is why having fun with your panorama tune is so important, because that is what carnival is all about. FUN
Hey I don't care what you think of our tune, but telling someone who has been playing pan for three weeks (and in that time has done a panorama, junior panorama, and become a very strong tenor) is disgraceful. And yes the aim is to win, but not here. Our aim is to promote pan, let as many people as possible have a go and have fun. And if success comes that's brilliant, but nor our aim.
Now say what you want about the tune, but don't insult players.
Well i thought the Joseph bit had no link at first but ten commandments = moses = family connection to joseph. And the ne-yo part was just a bit of fun, something a bit different.
But hey we had fun and everyone has their opinion, to be honest i thought there wasn't one band that sounded significantly worse than everyone else and that is down to all the hard work the talented players and arrangers from all bands put in this year.
Like i said I'm not saying this is the worst thing i have ever heard.
Parts of it does have potencial. All i'm saying is for the amount of players you have (with understandment to most of them being young) it sounds a weak.
The tune is repeated in so many different keys it does get a little tedious. Not saying you didn't put effort in...
The neyo part? Little odd. And Joseph & technicolour dream coat to begin with?
Good effort... but results this year seemed honest.
one more for the road...............WELL DONE CSO WE WERE GREAT no one can take that away from us ever, hang in there respect to paul also, fantastic tune, in my eyes almost came up to rival music in we blood. well done all.
... of the day paul is a fantastic arranger considering what he has been up against he remains in the saddle giving it his all no one can take that away from him. one other thing you need to remember is that we have quite a few new players of a young age give them some bl**dy credit noone is perfect ur telling me that ebony mangrove and all the others never make any mistakes??? i think not. find me a single pan band tht doesnt make a single mistake after only 5 weeks practice!!!!!
Projectwandm what are you trying to say here about us not being tight and precision??? correct me if i am wrong but on every stop phrase and change there were hardly any mistakes granted there could have been mistakes but on the night its not noticeable unless you are in the centre we all came in together when stops were restarted so you way off line there. maybe it wasn't a winning performance maybe it was, who cares we played our asses off noone can take that away from us and also at the end..
projectwandm only seems to like Ebony. We all know Ebony is outstanding and such a tight regime if you're not good enough you don't get in. Total 100% commitment.
The other bands all play in there own unique way and have all earned the right to play at the Champions of Steel. I say yet again Pan is the winner on the day.
Well done CSO. Anyone can sit at home and put there points across but you saw the judge's faces, you saw the look of enjoyment on there faces and the crowd cheering after and during the performance... Well done Paul and the Croydon Steel Orchestra
Was it me or did Croydon came 7th...Stardust runners up in National Panorama 2 years in a row came 9th and Brent Holders CSI came 8th ....There were 5 judges this year .. O and by the way the kids are kids and 2007 junior panorama Champions and the jumping up and down is called dancing.
I think if some people looked at the results they find the points were really close and the end of the day Pan is the winner...

i agree with projectwandm. it got where it deserved. it looks like a bunch of kids jumping around. not a serious competition. maaybe be more mature and focus on the song and playing and you may start going up the results
by far one of the best tunes this year ! every year we cum bk hotter than the year b4! admit it we jus get beta n beata ! all i can say in bring on next year n watch out 4 us ! junior and national ! oh n the song was hectic ! arrangments perfect, best into and outro eva ! luving the neyo, n everything about it lol , even the radio sed it ! x oh n guys just wanna say well dun ! u dun sooo good ! n well dun paul amazing shizzzlleee x
Thanks Pansticks. A wicked performance from the band and what an arrangement. If marks were given for verve and enjoyment then CSO would have won hands down. Never mind, the nutty crew will be back next year, you can't keep a pan band down.
Wassy jams on top of sweet melody! Very nice panorama performance, keep it up!

to Pan2it who seems to have commented every video lol
I don't only like Ebony at all. I give every band a chance when i listen.
I know Ebony have a tight regime but so do other bands.
Are the results this year not enough to convince you which bands were sounding the best? Anyway yeah agree with you with pan is the winner.
Nice try everyone.

Well that's fine if we weren't tight but can projectwandm please write down the timings of where we weren't so tight to help us learn?
