Few people in the history of broadcast journalism -- save maybe Edward R. Murrow -- painted the kind of "word pictures" as did Harvey. Many of us in radio think the medium died with him. Dennis
Stories are good in their time and place, but there comes a time for serious coherent thought and real-time acceptance and action on unpleasant situations. Paul Harvey made us COMFORTABLE. We listened, and now many of us are in a very UNCOMFORTABLE situation. Sometimes, stories just don't work anymore.
I know Paul did TV, but when were these did, I see you've put up several of them...I remember the short commentaries that would air on the noon news but I don't remember seeing these full length Rest of the Story recitations.
Yes, Paul Harvey is an icon who will live forever in my mind. I think part of his command of the English language was his ability to keep one idea per sentence. And never saying "um" . He was fluid in his speech.

Paul, You were my all time favorite journalist. Even above Kronkite!

@texonthebeach I would certainly hope so, as Kronkite is a joke, and always has been. One of the most biased journalists of all time.
