Really loved to watch. We have tried to produce Mokume billet @ my factory to make some billet for personal use. But copper & silvery not stick each other. We have temperature control electric oven. And we can heat up to 900 Celsius. Can u explain me how to do? Or we have to use any special substance.
I have an electric kiln and am learning mokume gane. Do i have to wrap my stack of silver and copper sheets? what is a best temperature for my oven to heat up to? 1450? for how long? After hammering i anneal it? then take it out of my jig and hammer more? Am i ready to carve out with my burr and then roll it now? If you answer my questions it would be so greatly appreciated its hard to explain.
You eliminate a lot of scale and oxidation if you use plumbers cement around the billet and wrap the whole thing in stainless steel foil. You can add a bit of paper to remove the O2 in the package. A temperature controlled oven works much better to avoid melting it all into slag.. although this is much like what the japanese worked with in the beginning.
very nice!
