  • Did he sign it?

  • I made a big, cardboard costume version of the TFioS cover. And I took it to the Redwood City stop. SO THERE WAS A BIG UGLY ONE AND A TINY PRETTY BABY ONE AT THE SAME EVENT. *why didn't i see this sooner*

  • Oh man I wish I saw this before the 27th. I was at the Redwood City tour. Did he sign it?

  • hi did you put the whole novel into the little on or just the first chapter? thanks.

  • Also, you are so awesome! :') I wanna learn how to do this! :D

  • Did you get it signed then??? :D

  • :O I now officially want to learn how to bind books.

  • Is there a place where we can pay you to make these for us?

  • How did you get the idea to make miniaturized copies of books?

  • I shall now miniaturize all my books BRB

  • It's adorable! But i'm really curious as to how you digitized the main text. Did you use scans, or type it all out, or some other simple explanation that i clearly haven't thought of?

  • @soulscape07 She probably bought the eBook version of it and minimised the size of it.

  • Your nails made this video like 37 times more mesmerizing.

  • IT'S SO CUTE

  • Wow. This is way too amazing.

  • :O FELLOW AWESOME SLYTHERIN!!!!

  • Idk if you'll see this Karen, but just wondering what the little white thing was that was pointed at the end. I'm much into graphic design and it looked really useful for scoring among other things.

  • @SuperCatSara That's called a bone folder. They're inexpensive, and VERY useful!

  • @thelaynie thanks! it looked super useful, so I shall scour Michael's for one next time I am there :3

  • that is so cute!

  • Can you make a video about how to put the pages on the computer and make them the same size as each other

  • That is one of the best things I have seen in a long time.

  • oh my goodness! cutest thing ever! I love miniature things!

  • Whoa, this is REALLY cool! I'm impressed!

  • lol good video!

  • I would totally buy one of those.......... If only I could find someone to make me one :3

  • I am only curios about one thing: Did you type all of those pages in by hand?

  • @Beutifyllik She probably just scanned the pages and made them smaller.

  • i love the book, i really do, but i have been trying to remember what my ikea chair is for AGES!

it's hermen, you glued on the leaflet so THANKYOU!!

sorry for how unrelated that was - you're very talented

  • Do tips on college and or art school!

  • Very cool! See you in RWC (so excited).

  • I would just have to have so much patience to make something as fantastic as this.

  • wow! that's really amazing.

  • awww sooo adorable :D

  • Wow, is it the full book!?!?!? It's amazing!

  • is it legal to copy a whole book,

  • I'm going to the Redwood City event!! I'll see you there!

  • Why are there so many blank pages towards the end?

  • Did you manage to squeeze the entire novel into that mini, or was it just the first couple chapters? Either way, that is quite impressive. If I ever get the opportunity to learn to bind books I definitely think I will. I need a mini Gatsby to take with me when I travel.

  • That was ridiculously adorable.

    Kaysy sounds wonderful, as always.

  • Awww the book is so tiny!:D

  • gorgeous music!

  • This is incredible. Hope you included the page with the credits (and your diagram). Would you consider auctioning on eBay for charity after John signs it?

  • Does it have all the pages?

  • omg awesome!!

  • this girl is clearly insane!! but it is super cool, i wish i had thought of it!! DFTBA!!!!

  • is it too small to be read?

  • that is absolutely amazing! :')

  • brilliantly adorable!

  • I hate reading but due to english class I have to read a book at least 250 pages and log every 10 pages. It's due next week and of course I haven't started yet, but I told my mom to get me The Fault In Our Stars because I love the vlogbrothers videos so much. It might not sound like much to all you readers but I have read 130 pages in 2 days and I'm proud considering I'm a videogame and anime nerd and not a book nerd. It's actually really good and I like reading it :D

  • it's so cute! i definitely enjoy watching you make the miniature books

  • if you made me a miniature of Looking for Alaska, I would pay you greatly. Then i would carry that book with me wherever I went and have a vague idea of where Alaska was.

  • i would love to a) buy one of these from you, or b) know where you got the entire text of the book to resize and print, or did you type it all up?

  • Is there somewhere that I can buy this?! It's amazing!!

  • I LOVE this song!!! I want it!

  • if I paid you would you make me one?

  • I'll see you there! I hope I get to see John sign it. Fine tip sharpie, maybe? Is it okay if we just come up and hug you or should we awkwardly begin a conversation?

  • The song is sad...

  • Holy crap! this is amazing!!!!

  • I think if I did this, I'd increase the font size and make the book be filled of all of my favorite TFIOS quotes. And then I'd connect it to a keychain and carry it with me. Everywhere.

  • Thats adorable ;O

  • I have the opportunity to take a book binding class as an elective at my college, and thanks to you I think I'm going to take it! Beautiful work :)

  • @LIZnumber10 Definitely do it. Bookbinding is so fun!

  • What is this lovely song???

  • I wish I could make this. It is amazing.

  • You should have John sign this with one of those mini sharpies.

  • WOW.

  • I wish I could have gotten tickets so i could see that book in person it is fantastic but right when I was going to buy them they sold out

  • Just made of awesome. Just... AHH! This was great.

  • I would pay top dollar for that.

  • you're amazing!

  • this made me smile.

  • This is super awesome!! But how come only the first half has text? :(

  • I WAAAAANTT ITTTTTT

  • and AMAZING JOB!!! great pocket book for your purse, imo :)

  • what's the song? i love it...and i've never heard it before. heh.

  • To somewhat misquote the words of Toby Turner: do duh do do doo SUBSCRIBED!

  • This is really really cool! I was just wondering, though, are there any blank pages at the back? I thought I saw some back there....

  • THIS IS THE COOLEST THING I HAVE EVER SEEN <3 OMG YOU ARE BRILLIANT. DFTBA!

  • You are awesome!!

  • That is amazing!

  • You should have it Signed...

  • You, my dear, have the patience of a god. Also, I really enjoy both this video and your Paper Towns. Super neat idea.

  • nice nail polish.

  • pocket sized TFiOS? DO WANT.

  • I want one! :)

  • This is amazing. Any chance you'd sell them on etsy?

  • Is it the whole book or just the first two chapters?

  • Did you do the layout for the proper book (only way I can figure you have an InDesign file of the whole thing) It's beautfiul! Also this tiny book is... holy wow.

  • Would you consider selling these tiny books? Not necessarily the TFIOS one, since I think duplicating part of the book for money is a copyright infringement, but perhaps just blank books?

  • so much time and effort...

  • That is sooooo awesome!

  • It looks like The Fault in Our Stars had a baby. :)

  • I worked in the graphic arts field for 30 years..nice to see the "old school" tools of the trade..burnisher, x-acto, steel ruler and cutting mat...makes me smile :)

  • @deffcat I love my x-acto knife and ruler and all my other tools. As useful as computers are, they can never replace actually making things by hand.

  • Oh my god... how long did that take you to make?

  • Does anyone else remember when Karen made the duct tape Paper Towns holder? And everyone was all, "THAT IS THE COOLEST THING EVER"? Not to say that it wasn't cool or anything, but things have definitely come pretty far since then. This is amazing.

  • you're awesome :D

  • off topic but what printer do you use ?

  • I subscribed purely because this, and u are made of awesome :)

  • This is brilliant! Such a good idea. And that's Kaysy's song!

  • I love the video! I don't want to be mean but is this legal? :D

  • I'm sitting in my kitchen, flailing and saying, "MY BRAIN JUST EXPLODED."

  • How did you do that?!! I've always wanted to make my own bound book but I dont know how :( where can I get the tutorial from?

  • WOW! How did you think of that idea???

  • So awesome, Karen. I remember the miniature Paper Town video too.

  • This is amazing!

  • Holy god. I want one.

  • now, we just need it to be SIGNED! JOHN!

  • I really enjoyed this video! Awesome!

  • AAAHH IT'S KAYSY'S SONG!!!

    Also, this is SO COOL.

  • How long did it take you!? i love it! I can't wait to read it (not in a font 3.)

  • You're so awesome Karen!

  • Holy moly mother of God

you are AMAZING this is AMAZING

  • Crafty Love <3

  • That is soooo adorable!

  • SOOOOOOO CUTE!

  • Did you have the original InDesign FILE?! Or are those just scans from the book? Anyway, you never forget to be awesome, do you? :)

  • @mauzaid It's a pretty standard book layout. Not too hard to recreate in InDesign :)

  • Gah! See you at the Redwood City stop! I WILL find you.

  • Karen, can I please buy a copy of TFiOS and Paper Towns?! They are truly awesome.

  • John has to sign it! But in a green fine-tip sharpie.

  • OMG!!! i want one of those!!!, they are soo cute :D

  • aaah Karen I was wondering if you were going to make another miniature book :) It looks so professional and damn near close to the original! Your bookbinding skills have improved a lot, too. You've inspired me for my week-end project :)

  • So cute! Goodness!

  • I love the Music, its great

  • I really need to get back into physically making stuff again. I've gotten lazy in that regard thanks to so many brilliant digital tools.

  • When I saw the book next to all those sharp objects in the beginning I got REALLY NERVOUS and thought you were going to cut it to pieces. Glad to see things didn't turn out the way I expected them to!

  • @misszale I once bought an extra Harry Potter book for the purpose of cutting it up and using it for a project. I couldn't bring myself to do it.

  • @TalesOfWar THANKS! I'll have to look it up. I was just thinking of printing my first book and binding it myself before my sister reads it so she can have an actual book in her hand (she hates reading off a computer screen). I wanted to make it all professional and awesome though so hopefully this paper can work for a cover slip. The printer should be okay, we put thicker card stock papers through it all the time. :D Thanks again.

  • This is really cool! Do you miniaturize a lot of books?

  • Wow! That is awesome :) I really hope John gets to sign it!!

  • :) you are too awesome Karen!

  • who is the singer?

  • @BluePi1313 kaysyconundrum

  • Do want.

  • Ahh, so awesome!

  • wow that is........so......COOL

  • Awesome job!

  • I love miniature versions of things, so this just makes me giggle.

    Great video, Karen!

nd thank you so much for using my song!!!

  • are you going to get john to sign it?

  • @deathnotefan386 derp, never mind, didn't watch the whole thing

  • What program was that I saw on your computer, and what kind computer was that too, thank you. I do like your videos very much, but I am not a creative person :( I do like the work creative people do.

  • @Dhintheman Adobe InDesign and most likely an iMac, or some kind of other Mac with a nice big display.

  • That is incredibly incredible!! And don't get me started on the song!! AH! So great! So amazing!! John will love that!

  • John's J Scribble will have to be very tiny for that one XD

  • LOVE your nails Karen. I really like that 1. you're daring enough to wear yellow and 2. one of the only two people I know that can pull off yellow.

  • Would you ever consider selling a mini? ;o

  • ikea manual!

  • I love your nails.. and the music, and the book! of course! so cool.

  • umm... PLEASE CAN I HAVE ONE.

  • Awesome mini book. So hanging for my copy to arrive here in Australia.

  • This is amazing!!!

  • The moment when you realise you're already subscribed to the person singing the music =) Awesome.

  • Kraft Time with Karen

  • @AidanSpeaks Next we make mac and cheese!

  • @xperpetualmotion Thats actually the most perfect response ever <3 kd

  • That's very impressive- I've never watched someone miniaturize a book before.

  • Oh! Wow!, i wanna make a mini book, could u tell me what size u made the pages. your vids really inspire me karen, i just started on a graphic design course in sept and watch your typography vids, so when i started a typography project recently i knew a few things already :D Thanks.

  • I'm going to the Redwood City signing, too! :D
