  • Awesome work buddy!!,where can i fing silhoutte studio rotoscoping tutorials.

    Thanks!

  • is silhouette spfx free? i checked their website and couldn't find a "store" tab.

  • @LastChill It's Silhouette FX, not spfx. And no, it's not free. They have a purchase tab on their website; the full version is $1,000.

  • @ncaauwe wow, that's expensive! and sorry, someone on YouTube called it "spfx."

  • @LastChill Ah, well they were misinformed. SPFX is the Silhouette company that makes glasses (very nice ones I might add; I'd like to get some next time I get new frames) :P

And yeah, it's a little pricey compared to when they sold the roto and paint licenses separately, but it's very specialized software and certainly the best possible tool for roto. Worth learning, but I'd only worry about buying it if you're making a living with it.

  • whenever i see digital animation reels, they also show a line swiping the screen from left to right, transitioning from the original footage to the finished product complete with the special effects. please tell me how you do it! what program do you use to make that swipe transition happen and how to you transition between original footage and finished product in real time? it's a small question but I'm always curious every time I see that!

  • @LastChill It's very simple. You simply line up the original footage and the final shot in your editing timeline and do a wipe between them.

  • @ncaauwe sweet! i know shake is the advanced compositing, but what program do you use for animating things like the lightning and light sabers. i'm a filmmaker whose going to buy all this software and i'd like to know what you use in that regard.

  • @LastChill The lightsabers are roto'd in Silhouette, which is what I use everyday for my work. I used After Effects for the lightning, using a mixture of the Advanced Lightning effect and hand-drawn stuff.

  • Loved the dark house.

  • was this all hand roto?

  • can u do some apple shake 4 tutorials?! i need help! like with the light saber one and sky replacement

  • please tell me how to rotoscoping without a green screen. thanks , great video

  • That was amazing dude. I'm a Filmmaker and music video director.. we should work on something sometime. Oh, and I thought something looked weird at 0:21, and I found out what it was... you accidently switched the lightsaber colors between the two. :P Great work though! PAST Excellent!

  • Haha, that wasn't a mistake, we switched lightsabers during the duel, and we have a great moment planned that will hark back to that in the second one ;)

  • its aweesooome! would really love to learn roto and compositing.. nice work man. :))

  • Thank you! You should scope out my newer one in the video responses ;)

  • Que bien...!!! impresionante "shake"

  • WOW, you guys are very good!

  • you have made all those effects with after effects ?

pretty nice you are my favorite man . 5/5 + subscribe

  • Actually very little was done in After Effects, just animating the lightning in those few shots at the end. Everything else is either rotoscoping in Silhouette or compositing in Apple Shake.

  • Whats the name of that song?

  • ...why didn't you just 1) text me or 2) wait until I got home and walked down to my room and asked me? :P

At any rate, it's "Chicago" by Sufjan Stevens, and it's in the video description, complete with link to iTunes. Feel free to simply stream it from my iTunes whenever you like as well. I actually have two versions, this one being my favorite :)

  • Can you make a tutorial or something?

  • Niiiiiiccccceeeee! To put it lightly =D

  • Hehehe, thanks :) Congrats on the IMDB credit again ;)

  • =) Thanks!
