  • ΤΡΑΓΟΥΔΑΡΑ!!!!!ΜΕ ΕΠΙΡΟΕΣ ΑΠΟ DOORS...

  • I've met Tom one night, at his brother's 40th birthday party. Very nice guy indeed and he was absolutely stunned and would not beleive me when I told him his band was a cult in the early 90s.

  • good to hear this again been a while excellent indie band never got to commercial

  • @paulmac2012 You say that like it's a good thing. Is it a good thing then, that talented musicians aren't getting the recognition they deserve?

  • this is my bestest ever favouritest song. was born 20 years too late

  • ur looking older but u cant be certain...

  • I actually forgot just how good they were!!!

I'm a little disgusted with myself!!!

  • What a great song this is. And i hear they are back together now. Yeah!!!

  • i love this song <333

  • Bring back the inspirals.

  • @orourkeda You'll be pleased to know Clint Boon has confirmed the Inspirals are reforming.

  • @chaosgerbil Superb Stuff

  • Im supporting Tom Hingley at The Cellars At Eastney (Portsmouth) tomorrow night !

  • I used to have guitar lessons from Tom, top bloke!

  • Didn't know Scholesy was handy on the drums as well as playing for United.

  • If your from Shrewsbury The front man Tom Hingley is playing at The Old Bush Thursday 14th July! :)

  • only reached no 12 in the charts, what fucking 11 tunes

    bettered this? sad.

  • @bohsblur Never mind... This Is How It Feels peaked at 14.

  • awesome

  • @born2bewilddude The vibe of the British 90's didn't pass me by. I lived in the most rural, cuturally remote part of the US and I had to GO OUT OF MY WAY to get the Britpop and Madchester stuff. It did define a decade. While the rest of the United States was drowning in grunge, So Cal Ska-core and nu metal, I was all about Suede, Inspiral Carpets, Shamen and Pulp (and many more from the UK). Americans are pretty good at some things. Making decent rock and dance music isn't one of them.

  • smiths fan but this is the best live song i ever heard.

  • Not their best lyrics but a storming sound, caravan is still my favourite single.

  • ohh yeh,,,this is my new band,,,awesome groove.....

  • i would search this world for you even though you cant imagine..i wanna take you to china i wanna kiss you in rome....

  • Tom Hingley was the best..in fact still is...

  • the beginning sounds like smashmouth walking on the sun. i bet smashmouth stole that. theyve admitted to stealing stuff from other bands.

  • Just saw Tom Hingley last night as an accoustic set, the Inspiral stuff was great but the blues stuff he kicked into sux'd alot!!

  • How come you never hear this on FM radio? All they play is the same old shit day after day.

  • @tubesteakbooky Put XFM Manchester on or go on their site and listen there. Clint Boon is the DJ for drive time. Every now and again he plays an Inspirals tune.

  • Tom Hingley, best singer in manchester...

  • you are dead right there mate do not forget noel gallagher auditioned for lead singer with the carpets before tom got it and got turned down enough said :)

  • what a tune

  • I never thought corny just be this cool!

  • Oh right and who were the last decent band to come out of the US? Nirvana 17 years ago LOL.

  • Tom Hingley (lead singer) was on in the market bar tonight in Inverness.

He was brilliant and there was less than 20 of us there. Did this tune brilliantly.

  • do they still exsist?

  • barking mad

  • oasis bore me stupid, inspirals still sound fresh.

    coolas fuck indeed..

  • Hated by the NM;, but in truth they piss all over Oasis.

  • @tindalosion agreed dude!

  • shockin vid, great tune.@ballough, leave it out mate. goes without sayin that def maybe and whats the story were in a class apart. all too easy to say oasis are shite an all that cos they got commercialised but the quality of their early stuff is unquestionable. might say they dont come close to the roses, but thats a diff story.

  • @navahabass exactly i totally agree ,number 1 the roses then oasis ,i like the carpets but to put them above oasis is stupid and sorry but nowhere near the roses for me.

  • aaawww this is brill i used to listen to the carpets when i was pregnant 3 yrs ago it relaxed me for some reason pmsl but yeah i loved these guys in the very ealry nineties wish we were all back there again life was easier eh!

  • aaawww this is brill i used to listen to the carpets when i was preganat 3 yrs ago it relaxed me for some reason pmsl but yeah i loved these guys in the very ealry nineties wish we were all back there again life was easier eh!

  • I live in the U.S. and I'm very aware of bands like the Carpets, Smiths, Cure and Stone Roses. Oasis and the Verve are my tied favourites though.

  • revenge of the goldfish was a great album

  • What a great creation. Maybe they would have done better with this with a grittier video sans Val Doonican Jumpers and Peter Tork hair cuts......nevertheless.....close your eyes and soak up the genius :)

  • "Flying so high - like a bird in the sky"

You don't get lyrics like that anymore. This is the carpets at their best. WOrds that make you sit and think mate.

  • was the keyboard player done for armed robbery? somethings ringing a bell

  • @trumph650 Think you're probably thinking of Rob Collins, original keyboard player with The Charlatans who died in a car crash in the mid 90's. I believe his friend was involved in an armed robbery on an off licence and Rob Collins was unwittingly caught up in it all by being the driver for his friend without realising what his friend had actually done until after he'd done it.

  • there wud be no fucking oasis

only 4 the inspirals. cool as fuck

    mr liam galagher.

  • Clint Boooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooon

  • The b-side to this "I know I'm Losing You" is also very good.

  • gay, gay, gay

how can you say they are better than Oasis?

  • @69ssmojo if you can say "gay gay gay" which is a dumb ass comment in the dark, ballough, has the right to his/her opinion, but there is another band, "The Caesars" boy are they are ripp off to these boys, check them out

  • Comment removed

  • Haven't heard this in ages but it holds up really well. The harmonies and Farfisa in the chorus sound fantastic.

  • @cindy5432x yes I agree with you, it still sounds so great

  • gallagher not a patch on TOM HINGLEY.

INSPIRALS cool as fuck! oasis fuck off.

  • i would search this world for u even though u cant imagine..i wanna take u to china i wanna kiss u in rome..

  • tom hingley..................i love you xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

  • Great song... thanks for posting it. It's a pity they didn't become as famous as they deserved.

  • They were the bomb! Saw them at the Limelight NYC back then.

  • RIDE and inspiral carpets, what i would pay

to see a gig like that. TWO GREATS.

  • When Clint had his hair cut, a little piece of all us of died.

    RIP Clint Boon's Barnet

  • Great stuff, the Uk is the most musically inventive country in the world.

  • Clint Boon <3

  • I love the 60s but i was there for the 90s great music cool band now most of the band are shit like kasabian ect.

  • Frank Gallagher and his brother Dermot used to be roadies for the Inspirals in the late 80s.

    It's true!

  • @trimmytrab oh i know saw the inspirals in south shields many moons ago......am sure noel was a roadie for them aswell if i remember rightly xxxx

  • i would take u to china i would kiss u in rome tom!!!!!

  • Saw them at Glasgow Barrowland just around the time this was out. Top gig!

  • Thank fuck for the internet really, lets people hear stuff theyd not have chance to otherwise.

  • here here

  • Funny, to these ears Britpop is Manic Street Preachers, Pulp, and Inspiral Carpets. Here in the US we were just fed Oasis, and as an 'sort-of-afterthought' Blur.

Took me way to many years to hear this fantastic band.

  • That is sooo true. I'm in Minneapolis, and all I remember is a lot of oasis, some blur, and that 1 stone roses song.

20 years later and I'm just discovering this music now.

  • You missed that 90s period and this indie music was so fresh and exciting and the best music era in my opinion!!

  • @stangable1984 blur are an amazing band..they came a few years after the inspirals and had a charts war with oasis...always liked blur better..damon was my fav xxxx

  • @hibeegirl17 yeah I'd take blur over oasis too (but I'm not the biggest blur fan either).

I also love all the early fathers of britpop too: early to mid Kinks, early Who, Small Faces, the Smiths, and most of all The Jam. damon is ok, but Paul Weller is everything to me(!).

Do you ever listen to Ride? their 'Going blank again' and 'Nowhere' are good british shoegazer music not unlike the carpets. .

  • @stangable1984 god i love the who..small faces and especially the smiths..girlfriend in a coma.... ride came out at the same time as the inspirals...they were good xxx

  • @stangable1984 ride are cool........niot as cool as the smiths or james tho but up there with them xx

  • @stangable1984

very underrated by the critics this band were despite them being far better than alot of the more successful ones.

  • @stangable1984 Well funnily enough Noel Gallagher was a rodie for Inspiral Carpets.

  • @alexkx3 He auditioned to be the vocalist at one point too!

  • @alexkx3 He auditioned to be the vocalist at one point too!

  • @stangable1984 believe me US is not the most terrible place. In Israel you can't hear anything which isn't lady gaga crapop style. in our hears there is no Britpop at all. only wonderwall was played sometimes back in the 90's but thats it. no Blur not even late Oasis.

  • @stangable1984 what are your thoughts on the stone roses?

  • @trumph650 love 'em. was actually listening to their first record on the train the other day.

I've actually been obsessed with the Housemartins lately, they seem like a criminally underrated britpop-ish band. 'we're not deep' is just a perfect pop song.

  • @stangable1984 noone in america gave a shit about britpop like oasis or blur anyway

  • @born2bewilddude I think it would help your argument if you said 'shit' three times instead of two, as per page 82 in 'Trolling for Dumbies'.

  • @stangable1984 noone in america gave a shit about britpop like oasis or blur anyway i dont see how you were 'fed it' It was only averagely popular in Britain

  • @born2bewilddude Averagely popular? It defined the decade! The 90's were the last time England felt good about itself and Britpop was a part of it. I know - I lived it in full!!

  • @stangable1984 Oasis were about ten years after these guys. I think you are confused.

  • Just found out Tom Hingley is my daughters tutor and has been emailing her about college on a regular basis! Bitch didn't even know, she's now grounded for a year. No doubt one shall obtain said email address and have a little chat with him. Supoib voice.

  • @vandal2k6 haha nice 1

  • the best band ever

  • oasis, roses, elbow.. bow down to the inspirals...

  • reappeared this video here in Chile !! .. could not see..

  • England the place where there're the best bandsof the world, need to turn to make music as 80's. to stop to mix with hip hop. to make the best pure rock and roll

  • 1990's sound in so many ways ha ha

  • this is a ok vid

  • dragging me down is good

  • good video man

  • w00t

  • oasis on their best day wouldnt even come close to the carpets.

  • I have to agree with you there.

  • Agree!

Because they did`nt or where obsesed with trying to sound like the Beatles or anyone else.

Oasis where at times total cheese, corny sheep trying mask a sound of their own without success.

  • @ballough have to be honest, never heard of these, but now i have, i think your comment is correct

  • @ballough really?? really???

  • Flop?? it got to number 12 in the charts.

    Cop ON..

jonkftw how didn't you know what a great band your unc Clint was in???? Noel Gallagher used to be their guitar tech for fuck's sake! kudous to you young fella!

  • "long live Manchester", that's how I remember Dave Kendall on 120 Minutes introducing Inspiral Carpets. A load of great music those days.

  • Awsome!!!! the big golden M

  • clints a fckin legend

  • you lucky git, having clint boon as your

uncle. A TRUE LEGEND.. cool as...

  • my uncle is in this band, he is called clint boon O.o, never really knew how big inspiral carpets were.

  • Saw a BBC 'Rockumentary' on the whole Madchester scene the other day.The only reference to The Carpets was that Noel Gallagher was once a roadie and had an audition with them. This is typical. They seem to be the forgotten band of the era(what an era!).

This makes them more special in my eyes, and one of the two best live bands I've ever seen(The other being Shed Seven, another "far better than their hype" band).

  • super band

  • seen them live at barrowlands a good few times fkn amazing

secc gig was fkn brilliant tripping out of my mind strobes, light show, video screens, the lot, these lads knew how to put on a show and still do

  • COOL AS FUCK!

  • I would search this world for you even though you cant imagine....i wanna take you to china i wanna kiss you in rome.....

  • QUAAAAAAAAALITY!

  • Yet another, underaprecitaed classic from this overlooked band. One of the great british bands of the lst 30 years easily!

  • i love this song.Danceable & Upbeat.

  • FxxKING GREAT

  • Love you Tom......Mooooooooo!!!!!!!

  • Timeless tune. Glad I found it again. Gettin' quite melancolic 'bout early nineties...

  • melancolic or nostalgic, bro?

this song brings me up, not down - it's a fxxking classic!!

  • nostalgic, you're right mate (melancolic because I'm getting such an old fart...)

  • they were originally called the inspirational carpets but this was too long

  • I love them! I saw them in 1993 at First Ave in Minneapolis, they were so fun live!

  • I Hear this song many times on the past hollydays; I love it!
