Her voice - without studio or video enhancements - is perfectly perfect! How can a voice be raw yet polished, rough yet oh-so-smooth? I'm now convinced that there must be a God - no way could such perfect vocal cords and powerful lungs be paired by accident.

Beautiful song, great voice -- KD is just a fabulous singer. Her clothes don't matter -- in fact -- I like her clothes cause she was sort of saying -- just hear the words and the music -- the "packaging" isn't what this is about. When you have vocal talent you don't need to come out in a flashing lights costume and bling and makeup -- all you need is your talent and she's got it.
I heard this song only a week ago and have been trying to learn it. It's incredibly complex. Just try to sing it note for note .. very difficult. But one of the best pop songs out there, of any era. Kd Lang's studio version of this song is amazing. She makes it sound like a walk in the park.
kd has the vocal chops to navigate one of Joni's most challenging songs. But, this was "An All-Star Tribute to Joni Mitchell," the only TV/TNT celebration of kd's Canadian compatriiot, superstar Joni Mitchell. So - why the out-of-place (and embarassing) outfit?
Looks more like shopping at Home Depot than starring at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York. I love kd. I'd never expect her to go glam or be less than authentic. But - please - show some respect for the occasion and for Joni.

I heard this song only a week ago and have been trying to learn it. It's incredibly complex. Just try to sing it note for note .. very difficult. But one of the best pop songs out there, of any era. Kd Lang's studio version of this song is amazing. She makes it sound like a walk in the park.

kd has the vocal chops to navigate one of Joni's most challenging songs. But, this was "An All-Star Tribute to Joni Mitchell," the only TV/TNT celebration of kd's Canadian compatriiot, superstar Joni Mitchell. So - why the out-of-place (and embarassing) outfit?
Looks more like shopping at Home Depot than starring at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York. I love kd. I'd never expect her to go glam or be less than authentic. But - please - show some respect for the occasion and for Joni.

Also, to all of those who have commented on k.d.'s attire---one of the numerous things to love about k.d. is that she is always just k.d. She will not compromise herself to fit into anothers mold. Whether you like her outfit or not is totally irrelevent. She likes it--- and that IS relevent.

Damn, she's talented. A richer, smoother voice than Mtichell's, though without the high soprano range of the latter's early years. Quite a high quality performance for a live recording.

Clothes????????You're talking about clothes with all that beautiful music - that is the most beautiful rendition of a Joni Mitchell song.
When KD sings other people's songs - it's as if she is the other singer - some notes, cadences, intonations are so perfect - her duets are the same, they sound as if one voice is singing....

What a nice version of this song. Her voice is so different than Joni's, yet fits the song as well. The different instrumentation sets it apart as well. Beautiful.
