The 5.4 is a good motor, strong and tows everything. My dad has a 5.4 in his 99' F250 and he's towed bobcats, boats, trailers, etc. makes plenty of power, engines really have gotten better over the years and the 5.4 sounds solid enough to me.

the truck costs me more than the suburban, but the suburban keeps close to this truck , i get about 6 with the haulmark, and about 10 highway without it, and the suburban gets 13 right now, but 18 if i keep my foot out of it, which i dont i didnt like the diesel because i got mine the day the 6.0 arrived at my dealership, the motor blew up at 50K and i had about 1855K when i got rid of it, i didnt like the 6.0 and i got a bitchin deal on this truck
