nice build. few tips, Paint the lifter valley next time for good oil flow return, measure push rods with tool to make sure there sweep is correct, Torque heads correctly from center out to ensure correct sealing on head gasket, use a different carb like a holley cause that engine wont like that one, the oil pan sound be torqed from one end to the other to make sure it doesnt get waves where it seals casing retarded leaks. Good job over all, just fine tune some of it.
blue blood born and raised my friend love the vid .... cheak out my 302 i did let me know what u think about the paint i put on mine ok ttyl keep up the good work man
3 points here: first - entertaining vid , second - thats a very tall phenolic spacer - especially for a mild performance application like this, third - I have built many motors and have always masked off the block and sprayed it - the idea of using a brush seems like a good one - no overspray and if the paint flows it looks like a good idea - I will be doing that next time
WRONG CARB, NO SPACER, CRAP HEADS, STUPID BLACK PAINT. Dude, a small Holley or Demon, trash the spacer, and use AFR 165 heads. Sorry. By the way, I build FORD Small Blocks for a living... thanks...
@laford1986 , why be so rude about it, hes building an engine for HIS OWN PURPOSES. just because you THINK you know it all doesn't mean you should point the finger at other peoples hard work. If your really an engine builder then you'll know that the business is REPEAT business and word of mouth. If you as rude to your customers as you are to people on here id wonder if you have any business at all. And next time dont say thanks seeing as you have nothing to be thankful for.
All you guys with the negative comments, chill the fuck out. This guy put up a vid to show assembling an engine. It wasn't an instructional video. I'm sure this SB Ford is running down the road great. Nice vid, there is always ass holes having a bad day that feel they need to leave a ridiclous comment.
@Thunderdeome Im fixing to do all of this to my 302 and I was a little curious about the difference in performance? Would you think the gain is worth the $2,000? And Im just a little curious as to what cam you installed.
Dude, i read some of the comments, and it seems like every time some one says "wrong torque pattern", you respond with "i just used that pattern for the video". So let me get this straight, u made that video with the wrong pattern, and after the video, u disassembled the motor so u can torque it the right way? Why wouldent u just do it right the first time and save urself the headache, the vid was in fast speed anyway. I think u just made a mistake & thats ur way of trying to fix it.
this video is AWESOME! i wish i saw how to install the roller lifters, i just purchased a 302 bored out .30 over to a 306, and this video is actually going to be a big help in completing the build. THANK YOU!
Great video. We wouldn't mind seeing the car that goes with this motor.
I'm spending my Christmas holiday building a 302 for my 66 Fairlane. I know, the car should have a 289, but the 302 is so much better and easier to find parts for.
hey even i've started working on my 302 today fr this 65 coupe mustang i bought gonna restore it all n also thinkin of doin this 302 ci engine up since i m rebuilding it any pointers u can give me mate...
Light blue is the traditional ford engine color. In the next two days I am getting ready to build up a 302 as well. Fun to see what I am about to do :) thanks for the video.

what kind of blue, painted the engine.
TheGer88 4 months ago in playlist Liked
@TheGer88 It's a light blue "special engine paint", produced by a french manufacturer "restom"
It's very hard to ship paints by airmail

the heads are already torque, this torque pattern is just for the vid, and yes, it's a edelbrock performer top end kit

@Thunderdeome that torque pattern is super incorrect...

Did you get the rotating assembly balanced? What did it cost for all of that?
gunforme 1 year ago
@gunforme
I've bought the engine as a short block, I've just changed the cylinder heads and the camshaft, and added all accessories
The cost ?, I live in France, it's less expensive to do this engine built, in the US

Thanks for your comments,
When I do the vid, the cylinder head has been already fit on the block
I f you look, you see that I just turn the torque wrench on the bolt
Thunderdeome 1 year ago
@DarksideRacingCrew he's saying he just tightened the bolts down to make it quicker in the video. we don't see him torque it down correctly.

I choose a 302 for the same reasons,

your torque order for the heads was way off. just like putting a new rim on the vehicle crossed from one another in a criss cross pattern
markcoleman1985 2 years ago 5
Yes I know, the torque pattern is wrong, but it's just for the video,
For the real assembly, I use the right torque pattern
Thunderdeome 2 years ago
agreed, i was scared when i saw him do that, very elementary mistake
kiteLe06 2 years ago
@markcoleman1985 i think he was just checking the final torque there.I do that sometimes when making sure i didnt miss any bolts :)
