  • A very nice tribute to a very great actor and person. Thanks for the upload.

  • Archie was my hero. He tried to warn us what was going to happen to America.

And it did unfortunately. RIP Archie.

  • That's ridiculous! I'm gay and I love AITF! its satire! He shows how stupid blind bigotry is

  • Carroll O'connor was not like his character! and it was also the time it was in! the 70's were a rough time for minorities in this country!!!

  • Love you so much Carroll! You're my favorite actor of all time!!! Some ppl on here need to do their research about what 'All in the Family' was actually about! R.I.P. Carroll O'Connor :( We love you!!!!!!!!

  • a guy that is a fag is a queer? pick a finger dead guy. fertilizer. see this fagot can be heartless as well. dead nail bitch

  • i hate this man he made it ok to hate gay people. rest in hell.

  • @covingtonjoe You're quite ignorant. Carroll O'Connor was an ACTOR. Archie Bunker was the character you saw on TV. If you didn't know that, then you probably won't understand the show was meant to poke fun at discrimination.

  • @motormontreal the one who played blair warner refused to play a role of her haveing sex with her boyfriend beacsue she felt it is wrong. carroll may have played a part but h still made it ok to hate gays. i am not ignorant i am just hating that fucker they way he hated me. i would piss on his grave for his showing of hate. that is not pokeing fun that is down right hate and he got paid for his hate. you are ignorant for promoting hate like me did. piss on you as well.

  • @covingtonjoe You must be a fag yourself F off

  • @motormontreal no i am gay. you will burn in hell for your hate also

  • he died from a broken heart losing his son,,poor guy,,he,ll be missed

  • He was amazing.

    I will always love him.

    George Vreeland Hill

  • Just so sad!!

  • What I loved about the Archie Bunker character Carroll played, was how he grew over the course of the show. People would call Archie out on his bigoted views and he would often, not always, think about what they had to say. And through everything and anything, Archie always loved Edith. Her clear, child-like view of the world was a lovely foil to his harder view. Loved All in the Family and Carroll as well. He is missed.

  • Archie Bunker was a very, very deep character. He wasn't just "the bigoted....". The character was also a union blue collar guy, a WWII vet, a child of the depression, eventually a business owner, a father, a grandfather, a cab driver, and a man who supported a wife, a daughter and a meathead.

  • Archie's best line...."Faith! That's when you believe in something that no one in his right mind would believe in."

  • that joke about to black people being jungle bunnies was ruthless. lol.

  • nice to see that carroll saw his name on the walk of fame before he passed.

  • muskygal10

i agree he was a marvelous actor! a real pro

  • Carroll O Conner Meathead Still Round...

  • Aint A Damn Thing Killed This Man But His Bull Headed Son Going and Doing What he Did....Makes me just wanna....all there is Left is a RIP for the Both Of Them.

  • Great actor...I love the guy.

  • He is that rare actor that was never out of work. I remember him in quite a few war movies from the 60s.

  • RIP Archie!!

  • hard to believe it's already been ten years. I was buying ingrediants for pizza that day.

  • Carrol O Conner was in a class of his own....man he was great! :) and still is missed from this day...well i miss him at least

  • My dad died in 1979 he loved All in the family I remember him coming home on Saturday night to watch that show he would laugh. He also watched reruns of the Honeymooners. He died many yrs before Carroll O Connor but he introduce me to that show. And today I find myself watching the reruns.

  • Jesus Christ. This is almost as bad as the fucking political assholes who have to bring their politics into something that has nothing to do with politics now we have these goddamn conspiracy theorist dickwads posting too. This isn't about you, this isn't about your nutbag theories on the world trade center, this is about Carroll O'Connor now shut the fuck up.

  • @AKKodiak1969 It's too bad you have to use such strong language here, but this is one of those proper times and places where it's needed to combat trolls and flamers, so thank you! Too many ignorant/immature commenters use such language rudely to diss and harass anyone who disagrees with them. Unfortunately, similar jerks use any poor excuse to impose their unrelated political/religious/other views on us in very inappropriate places such as widely-read tragedy/death/tribute articles or videos.

  • Carroll O'Connor never lived to see 9/11

  • @Lovemyselfidoes81 He'd feel just the way Ed Asner does I'd bet. 1,500 architects and engineers have

come together with their own forensic evidence from the sites of the WTC for what happened on 9/11, they're trying to get it before a grand jury. See ae911truth(dot)org, Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth..

  • @TheRiceowlex Thumbs up if you a a Conspiracy Nut

  • Excellent show. It's TOO BAD that there are so many arrogant idiots out there nowadays, that can't handle a fictional biggot. Imagine the morons that would complain about the words "Nigger", "Whitey", and "Pollock" being presented on V today??? STAGGERING.

  • My dad was SO upset when he died. RIP Arch.

  • He was so incredibly funny.

  • @jaybird197122 Right on!

  • im 23 years old...born 1988...and i love carroll o' conner,great actor!!

  • @1UPwrangler Using insults will only get your message deleted by me. Try reading what I said before accusing me of being without compassion. I just pointed out some irony here.

I believe that he should be upset at the drug dealer but as a Christian, I do believe in forgiveness.. Look at Carroll's politics though. All in the family was an anti-Christian show. It promoted peace, love, tolerance and reality shows that when they're confronted with these situations, they react with anger.

  • @abc1000001 I agree with you 100%. We must show love and compassion towards our enemies. What the drug dealer did was not right but where and how was Hugh O' Conner right as well for accepting the drugs? We choose our paths in lives and Hugh O' Connor could've turned away from the drugs. See, people that don't believe in Jesus Christ cannot understand forgiveness towards others. So they mock Christians. As Jesus was mocked. The one who cannot forgive is the one who shows the true hatred.

  • @abc1000001 And at the same time we can still show compassion and sorrow towards Hugh O' Connor as well but remember this 1UPwrangler, Hugh O' Connor was just as much in the wrong as the drug dealer. If you need the fill for feeling good for taking drugs you have the serious problem as much as the giver because the receiver also has a mind of their own. Which would you choose the giver or the receiver? Show compassion for both. Nether one of them were right for what they did.

  • Carroll O'Connor was a versatile actor in whatever role he played...and was gifted to boot! I'm so sorry to hear he suffered a personal tragedy due to the loss of his son Hugh from drug addiction. Thank you, Carroll O'Connor, for your contributions to the entertainment industry. You will never be forgotten.

R.I.P., Carroll O'Connor...1924-2001. Rest well, Sir!

  • He sang the best version of God Bless America and I cried like Gloria after 9/11

  • RIP Carroll.

  • There is an incredible irony to what happened to his son and how he reacted towards the drug dealer. If he followed what he was preaching before, he would have preached peace and love but no, he didn't. He wanted to hurt the drug dealer. You see, the irony is that a liberal is great at preaching to others but when it affects them, they don't practice what they preach.

  • @abc1000001 what the hell are you talking about? the man lost his son you compassionless git

  • i love all in the family and heat of the nite still too this day

  • ... *goes into sarcastic pissed off mode* Well, that's a great intro to brighten up your day: "Good morning. Carroll O'Connor has died."

  • Honestly--0:03--I miss old Headline News (the station, at 4:32a.m. on Friday, October 17th, 2003, where I was informed that Aaron Boone had won us the 2003 American League pennant hours earlier! I was smiling all day that Friday in late-'03!!!). I really do. But, I really, really miss Carroll O'Connor. R.I.P, Arch!

  • This show is my favorite! The best show ever! Pure genius!Glad i have them all on dvd, plus tvguides!

  • Carol O'Connor was a BLEEDING HEART LIBERAL. (watch the EMMY_TV_LEGENDS with Carol O'Connor). Carol O'Connor was a great actor and Archie Bunker was his greatest role. I and my entire family loved to watch the show every saturday night. But Carol O'Connor was a self centered, ego maniac, irish pig headed narcissist that was very stubborn, hard to live with and an asshole to be around. It was always about Carol O'Connor. Carol's son committed suicide from the pain of living with a narcissist.

  • If Archie Bunker had been a real life person, he and the man who played him would've been enemies, because Carroll was the exact opposite of Archie. O'Connor would've warned him, "Your bigoted attitude's going to get you into trouble."

  • Carroll was one of my favorite actors growing up. Very versatile on his acting. RIP

  • Wow, hard to believe it been 10 years.

  • I love Carroll O'Connor! He was....is the best actor ever!

  • he was even in "cleopatra" (1963)

  • Hearing about it again, ten years later, the sadness is still just as fresh. RIP to a truly marvelous entertainer.

  • in 3 more days its been 10 years since his death

  • Hard to believe it's coming up on 10 years. Jack Lemmon died around the same time, I believe.

  • the gold standard of acting for sure

  • The Best Of The Best!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I loved it when Archie used to say "yous" on All in the Family. Of course, there really isn't any plural form of "you".

    Yous rhymes with booze, btw.

  • I can't believe its been almost 10 years since he died. My family loved watching Archie back in the 70s. Carroll O'Conner was a great actor, a great American, a geat man.

  • The drug dealer sues the father of the guy whom he helped kill by selling him drugs. Only in America!

  • @vegasrobbie I totally forgot about his son, Hugh. Sadly enough, Howard Rollins, another cast member of the In The Heat of the Night, was also caught up in drugs and died of AIDS not long after the show left the air. I could imagine what Carroll was feeling at the time that both of these incidents happened.

  • The word BIGOT was fashionable in 2001.

  • One of our greatest actors...He made his Archie Bunker role Shakespearean.

  • RIP Archie Bunker

  • he was awesome!

  • What a bug eyed bitch

  • @pretorious700 who are you talking to?

  • Yes, ironic that he died just before 911- I'm almost glad he missed it...I think it's great that you remembered his version of God Bless America on that day

  • He sang the best version of God Bless America i ever hoid...i remembered that on 9/11

  • Wow, just months before 9/11. I miss him.

  • I'd have given my eye teeth to have met him. I was living in California in San Diego when he did a book signing I later saw on the news. Losing Carroll was a TREMENDOUS loss. Betty Garrett (Irene Lorenzo) died yesterday. At least, we still have posters who have the AITF episodes. I think nearly everyone of them are posted among them. Thanks for the upload.

  • No TV character changed America more than Archie Bunker - thanks to the talent and gifts of Carroll O'Conner.

  • Stifle urself! ;D

  • Carroll O'Connor was considered to be The Skipper of Gilligan's Island.

  • Rest In Peace

  • who would ever think months later we would all b changed.

  • I loved it when George Jefferson and Archie had a huge disagreement. Those guys were the fucking best

  • I remember the '80's saturdays... Dad was gone for an indoor-soccer game, mom & me in the late evening watching "In the heat of the night" together ... bro & sis sleeping allready ... Nice Nights. 20 years ago now. Nice memories.

  • There isn't a word good enough to describe Mr. O'Connor.

  • Carol O Conner was a true american

  • I remember this. I remember hearing his name and seeing a couple of eps of All in the Family, and asking my dad who he was when the news came on of his death. And he is a classic actor and is a Legend. Will always be, and the show All In The Family is one of my top 5 fav shows of all time, along with I Love Lucy.

  • Archie may be gone but he is not forgotten.

  • wow Matt with hair...lmao...and man he was a good guy..lived a long great life...it was a good death....

  • The episode where Archie walks into the bedroom, and spots Ediths slipper under the bed, after her funeral was the saddest, most believible scene ever in the history of acting. It would make a grown man cry watching this scene.Archie realized just how horribly he treated her over the years, and it was too late to say "I'm sorry for how I treated you,and how much I love you".It makes me sob like a baby when I watch it.

  • @demmylowther Where would I find that episode? Do you have the title or a link to it ? Thanks.

  • @raddman20031960 It was from the post-All In The Family spinoff series, "Archie Bunker's Place". I can send you a link to it, but take my advice, grab a box of Kleenex first.

  • He had such a way about him; he reminded me of my own dad, too. Although my dad was super smart and not a biggot, he had the same demeanor at times.

  • Thank you for posting this. This footage may have been lost forever. He is unforgettable.

  • it was a great loss when he passed away, I loved hom as Chief Gillespie In The Heat Of the Night, Rest in peace with your Son Hugh,Howard Rollins and Lois Nettleton

  • My dad loved him and so do I. Rest in Peace guys. :(

  • is his wife still alive? i loved him on all in the family and in the heat of the night.

  • @IAMKENDRAMARTIN -his wife Nancy Field O'Connor is still alive, and his TV wife Jean Stapleton (Edith Bunker) is also still alive and well.

  • FROM ALL IN THE FAMILY TO IN THE HEAT OF THE NIGHT, THIS GUY DID IT ALL.

WHO COULD EVER FORGET THOSE BEAUTIFUL BABY BLUE EYES:)!~

I LOVE YOU MR. O'CONNOR AND MISS YOU EVER SO MUCH.

  • I can't believe he's been gone 9 years so sad he was not that old either. I wonder if his wife is still living.

  • @cassielynnejo When I last checked, she was.

  • im 16 now but i just love archie bunkers place and all in the family 8)

  • rest in peace o'connor,u are missed

  • R.I.P. ARCHIE :( !!!!

  • great actor and seems to be a great person!

  • @ArizonaAdventures He was in both cases. After the death of his son Hugh, he became a strong anti-drug crusader; you can see the public service ad he made on YouTube. It's hard to find an actor of his caliber nowadays - real decent man.

  • A true icon that showed us "humanity" in an ever evolving chaotic world. Rest in peace Carroll. Thank you for the laughs and the comfort of helping us to see ourselves through your role as Archie Bunker.

  • It's a good thing he never witnessed 9/11, which happened a few months after his death.

  • Comment removed

  • he was amazing, but i have to say the writers also deserve credit for all in the family for having the balls to run with what they came up with. ppl were prob terrified to put stuff like that on tv back then

  • I agree that drug dealers are killers.

  • @denisespurlock nononono. drug dealers are killers? you see, its EXACTLY the other way around. dealers dont force people into buying SHIT, people buy drugs with no regard for their own health, the dealer just wants payment for what he supplied.

  • @bl00dwaste sounds like the government..lmao

  • @ltuomela i know its sad, but its still true.

  • Carroll O'Connor was a great actor. Thanks for uploading this excellent footage.

  • R.I.P. ARCHIE we LOVE you.

  • I remember watching " All in the family" with my grandfather as a kid when I'd stay with him during the summer to help out around the house. Always an Archie qoute at least once a day. (back when these episodes were still new)..................................I really miss good 'ol shows like this. What the hell has happened to TV shows nowa days?

  • @videoholic2000s

do you happened to have a news coverage of Dale Earnhardt's death?

  • that was a hurt piece...loved his acting

  • ARCHIE FOREVER!!! i dont care what other shows or movies hes played in he is still archie bunker to me! i watch everyday 3 pm - 4 pm on TV LAND. never gets old!!!!!!

stay strong jean (edit) and sally (gloria)'

we've lost great people: carroll conner, bea aurthur, rue mchlanahan, estelle getty, michael jackson

TRUE LEGENDS THAT CANT BE REPLACED!!!!!!!!!!

  • R.I.P Carroll I watched him every day

  • I watched "ALL IN THE FAMILY" All the time and im 14 now! I never new he was dead. He was a classic. so funny. WE LOVE YOU CARROLL!!!!!

  • We will alawys remember him!! God Bless Archie and Carroll

  • RIP Archie

  • I watched "All in the Family" all my young life in the 70's. It was an amazing show!

  • They say..that Mr.O'Connor died of a heart attack..but..

I believe that he really died of a broken heart, after losing his

    son.

  • @143AC I think so , too..............Gwen Weaver

  • Great tribute to "Archie Bumper" (that's what I called him before I was very little).

  • NBC ran this? NBC? Hyper PC NBC? Shocker, but a terrific tribute for a rare gem of an actor and a kind, wonderful man.

  • @KarmicOmen CBS aired AITF.

  • @JAldridge86

Yep, CBS was channel 7 here (now it's channel 4). Of course back then we had VHF and UHF, rabbit ears and a roof antenna -- no cable TV, had to get up and change the channel!

  • @JAldridge86

You're right, it was CBS ... over ten years ago the local NBC and CBS affiliates (channels 4 and 7 here) switched networks.

  • There will never be a show as brilliant and bold as All in the Family, will never be a more simple but complex, misguided but spot on, loud mouthed but softhearted character like Archie. Mr. O'Connor -- for all you gave in life and all you continue to give in syndication, we love and thank you. God bless!

  • @KarmicOmen

    You got that right.

  • As much as I try to watch Carroll in other roles, I just always see Archie. It really was his masterpiece!

  • I miss this man so much

  • R.I.P. Archie

  • "I never said a guy who wears glasses is a queer! A guy who wears glasses is a four eyes a guy who is a fag is a queer!" Classic line!

  • @hunhun23 i agree with that one. Mr. Davis do you take cream and sugar in your eye??? funny as hell!

  • @cowboysfan1964 it sure was! I watched this show from 1971 until it went off the air in 1983. By then it was changed to Archie Bunker's Place

  • @hunhun23 That is my line!

  • Shame we're sadder to hear about this than Jean Stapleton apparently was... All accounts I heard from people (except Jean) were that he was a wonderful man.

  • So sad that such a great man died. RIP Mr. O'Connor.

  • :( ... those WERE the days...

  • I miss Carroll, I wish he'd come back

  • This brought me to tears. Thank you for posting it. (And thank you, Carroll.)

  • 00:08: Why have Islamic militants been charged for Carroll O'Connor's death?

  • we WILL miss you Mr O'Connor and thank you for making us lagh so much,R.I.P (a fan) michel from Canada

  • so so sad

  • 2001? I didn't think it was that long ago!!!
