It is telling that this was the first single released from Devil Without A Cause. While it was obvious Kid was moving away from the rap scene and more toward rap metal, and then eventually southern rock and country, rap IS his roots - at least as an artist. With all of the GREAT songs to choose from on that album, they went with the only pure, old school rap song on it. I bet he never thought 13 years later he'd make a lot more money doing southern rock and country music!!

I don't love Born Free - I think it is a VERY GOOD album musically - I personally miss the American Badass Kid Rock - but, you gotta hand it to Kid - he is doing what ultimately is best for his career longevity - and doing it quite well.
