  • Yes, i do think that global climate change is definitely affecting hurricanes.

  • says harvard...

  • Harvard says that as green plants sink CO2, the free CO2 in the air has not changed for 200 years! Repeat - no change in CO2

  • why can't i post on here

  • Cherry-picker

  • There is 3.7 ppm CO2 in the air. CO2 blocks IR light at 2%: That is 5,000 times more than plants will allwo in the air! They take in the CO2, and excrete O2.

  • By volume CO2 is 387 ppm in the atmosphere. Plants do take in CO2 and excrete oxygen. Were putting out more CO2 and cutting down more trees. The CO2 and other gases cause the greenhouse effect. Sure they absorb infrared lights but they take that energy redirect it in all directions. Including back at earth. Earth be cooler with none of those gases. Check out the wikipedia page on infrared lights.

  • New scietist 2/10/08 CO2 is 0.0000037% of the atmosphere: It is sunk by all teh plants on Earth. It follows the natrual climate.

  • Ppm means parts per million. Your are saying the same thing as me. The amount of CO2 in the atmosphere has dramaticly started increasing when the industrial revolution started in the 1850s in all of Europe( England started earlier). Scientist have noted this. There is a correlation between the trees cut down and greenhouse gas emissions. The correlation is positive for the CO2. With increasing CO2 emissions and decreasing tree populations, more greenhouse gases will be in the atmosphere than

  • There was 2 pm CO2 before the industrial revolution, there is only 3.7 ppm today. In the last ice age there was 4 ppm in the air, as there were fewer plants to take it in: It follows the cliamte, it does not make the weather.

  • (...) as for CO2 varying with climate, that's correct, but only half the story. The climate changes during the ice age cycles were not initiated by CO2, but CO2 (and other GHGs like methane) greatly amplified their effect.

  • Than what the plant has the ability too recycle. Those gases absorb those IR lights you were talking about and redirects some of it back at earth. Those gases let more radiation in than they let out out creating a surplus of radiation. Scientist have said the earth would be cooler with fewer greenhouse gases because the heat would bounce off of earth and go back into space. I don't know who GW is or PR. I don't work for anybody. I'm too young to work for any part of the goverment, I'm only 16.

  • CO2 is at 0.0000037%, adn has no effect - it follows the weather, as plant life waxes and wanes. The major GW gas is water vapor, produced by the seas, and nothing to do with man. You are 16 great, you can teach your teachers stuff!

  • @JonThm CO2 is a very important GHG, even in those small amounts. Water vapor is a strong GHG, but it doesn't remain in the atmosphere very long, and there are large quantities of it, so we don't add very much to its effect. CO2 has a long residence time and is not close to saturation. The amount of CO2 varied between about 200 ppm for the ice ages to about 280 ppm during interglacials. Today we're nearing 400. It was higher in the deep past, but conditions were different then (cont.).

  • I'm not a proponent of nuclear power. The potential risk are to great. I endorse green-renewable forms of energy: wind, solar, tides, geothermal, and hydro. Are you in America and how old are you.

  • I hate nuclear power - which is toxic death. Your heart does clean, safe, free nuclear FUSION from water. So does all life on Earfth. Only death does nuclear fission from Uranium.

  • Are you In America?

  • No. CO2 was meant to make things hotter, never more windy! What we ahve there is weather!

  • Computer projections are fiction! The REAL world is not warming guys!

  • Computer projections keeps hundreds of thousands of people alive every year. CO2 is not meant to make things hotter

  • Nuclear power came up with the CO2 stuff - it follows the wax and wane of plants, and is at 0.00037% today. To little to affefct anything!

  • CO2 supports all life on Earth. Plants sink it down to 0.00037% today away from cities.

  • CO2 is deadly to all animals in high enough amounts. That's why animals exhale CO2. When you go scuba diving you don't take CO2 and oxygen you just take oxygen. Plants need CO2 to survive because they need it to make sugars. Are maybe you meant plants use CO2 to make sugars which herbivores and omnivores then eat. The herivores and omnivores are then eaten by carnivores. Is that what you meant. CO2 is rising because there aren't enough trees.

  • CO2 is toxic to animals at 8%. There is 0.00037% in the globasl air today - despite man's emissions. Green plants evolved with 40% CO2 in the air.

  • That 37 ppm is enough to warm the atmospere enough to melt the polar ice caps, raise the sea levels, and take away the earth's cooling system. Since the cooling system is gone the seas get hotter. Hurricanes thrive over hotter waters. Hotter waters make the storms stronger and more severe.

  • The biggest rainforest, the amazon rainforest, is being torn down faster than the trees can regrow. The Indonesian rainforest is being torn down really fast too. CO2 isn't just increasing from a lack of trees but also from all domesticated animals that we live off. They all exhale CO2. any city you walk into has more CO2 than than any open field. And about hurricanes CO2 doesn't directly make them any stronger. The greenhouse effect traps heat, melts the ice caps, making warmer water, bad huric

  • Glad you acknoledge that plants take in CO2! But grass is a better sink for CO2 than trees: GW was PR from nuclear power stooge!

  • I never said plants didn't take in CO2. trees are way better at absorbing CO2. trees have more surface area than grass. They have more cell that require CO2 than cells. If grass is so good why dosen't every country tear down all of its trees and plant grass? I have the answer. There ecologist tell them that trees are better at absorbing CO2 than grass.

  • Grass has more photosynthetic areas thasn trees. So by ytour own reasoning, grass is better than trees. GW was PR by nuclear power, who pay you anyway!

  • All plant cells undergo photosynthesis. The leaves in tree undergo photosynthesis faster than the cell in the rest of the tree. The leaves are home to the parenchyma cells which account for 90% of a trees energy. Trees aren't restricted to just horizontal growth.

  • Plants take in CO2 down to 0.0000037% today, to support all life on Earth. Globla CO2 goes UP in an ice age, when tehre are fewer plants: GW was PR from nuclear power, your boss.
