How to Flash ROM's on HTC Hero

hey pal , I just got myself a Chinese version of hero HTC working on the 2.1 so i am unable to understand the android market and the other update , so please tell me , flashing it at a vendor would be better ?

hello i ve tried the method, but during reboot with both buttons (home and power pressed) i got a pic of a phone next to an explanation mark!! what does this means? am i not rooted? because i did rooting using the universalandroot file.

I have got the same problem. When I press two buttons I see aonly a mobile picture with red triangle with red exclamation mark...

good video ;p. next time put your phone on offline/aeroplane mode when recording so it doesnt inrerfere with your speakers

Question.. I have the HTC tattoo and i really don't have the Android market will doing this allow me to get it? because since mines is made from Egypt they said i can't get it..

@wtfelmo1 yeah a custom tattoo rom will allow you to change the locale and get the market, but talk to a tattoo owner dont try any files i provide links to as they will most likely brick your phone as its not a gsm hero

So do you need to do anything to your phone before actually putting the update winrar file on the memory card? Also, does this work on the Sprint HTC Hero?

you need to be rooted and for sprint hero you need different Rom files

Hi guys,

I have a problem with my hero updating,could you please help me?

When I'm turning off the phone after I copy the files as he said in the video ,I hold the power key and home together and after I clicked on "apply sdcard:update.zip" the process is going on and it says that:

--Install from sdcard.....

Finding update package....

Opening update package....

Verifying update package....

E:No signature (808 files)

E:Verification failed

Installation aborted.

I tried a different rom but I had the same error but for different file,for example No signature (6 files)

Which rom you suggest me to use,because my phone firmware is 1.5 and the kernel version is 2.6.27-8dd....... and the baseband version is 63.18.55........

When you boot your phone,your hero background is a picture of the android symbol but mine when I boot my phone,there is a triangle with " ! " mark of middle of it and when I try press the power key and the home key 2 or 3 times in the same time, after that I find the boot page but the background is the same that I told you.

Before I setup the rom or new firmware I need to do something else?

dude i breaked my phone updating radio image, im getting 1 replaced, but when updating the radio image i wait until it reboots and i removed the battery, idk if it was because i removed battery or the radio image just fucked it up.

hi...sorry forget that question..!..i just thought my problem may lie with a bad 'rooting' of phone...as i can't get text to work with new MoDaCo rom, have reverted back to 'laggy' original.:-( ..maybe i'm just missing something?!...any help would be very much appreciated...cheers..

hmm well i doubt rooting is the issue,

maybe try MoDaCo's other ROM (he has two which r as fast as ech other one has the odd extra feature but istn reli neccessary) which did u flash in the first place?

Or upgrade to HTC's latest hero ROM thats alot quicker

many thanks for such a detailed tutorial!...have updated as shown, but text messaging does not work...can't open existing meesages and although message sound alert is activated when recieving txts, nothing appears in pre-view or in box..help!

ok try reflashing ROM

thats not an issue ive heard b4 with MoDaCo's roms (i assume ur usin MoDaCo?) if a flash dosnt work email me :)

hi..no still got same problem after 2nd install...had a quick look on old system having done a restore from last backup and all texts showing fine...everything else works fine..even gmail..??

rooted and running in the same custom rom too , lol only had it 2 week and after watchin and gettin all the stuff sorted and in one place it got hacked , thanks for the videos and found some other cool links too from the net. next is a 8gig ext mem card with the 3 partitions thing. But runnin the new rom is a vast improvement over the stock
