When I made the comment below. I had not read Brigitte Horney's autobiography on Wikipedia, at the time. I was just assuming that she might of had the same attitude that many german had back then, But Since i did not know how she really felt,I stated probably. I wasn't promoting lies.I was expressing a possibillity. The time I read her short bio, I had long forgotten about what i said. It;s hard to know how u.f.a. actors and filmakers felt back then
brigit horney was probably a coward like many german citizens at that time or was one of those citizens desperate to get her country out of the depression being indifferent to jewish citizens who were also getting their grocer y in the garbage cans too only thinking how they themselves the rulling class were suffering the depression hitler took adavatage of this he exploited the roosevelt programs in germany and they were half baked but he was lying to the citizens
On the contrary, Brigitte among your fellow actors had many Jewish friends and if you read the biography that is also confirmed again. @ mikemcgee should, if you have a personal problem with Brigitte Horney is not publicly disseminate such lies if the person can not defend themselves.
The message of this song is: "Take it as it is. You can't change it, that's life. Get along with it, don't think about trying to change what you don't like. Just start to like it."
And that was a year after the Nazis got the power in Germany and started to change a lot of things (like denying people their rights).
The song is a haunting testimony to the turmoil Germany was wrapped in during the Third Reich. Brigitte Horney was disgusted with the "goings on" in her "Heimat". Many close friends "disappeared" or were known to have been murdered. Even decades later, "Biggi" spoke of the horrors she had witnessed when interviewed.
This certainly is a great song, rendered by a great lady. The scene with this song from "Ritter, Tod und Teufel" is absolutely stunning.
Yes it makes you think about Marlene, but Brigitte was a star by herself. And she played also after the war in movies and on tv. She is one of my favorit stars.

Yeah... Music which means something! Great stuff
Not to compare with modern music! The newer the less they mean! It's getting cold in the world!

Interesting. Makes you think of Marlene -- is it just because of the language?

Brigitte Horney had this special "timbre" voice. Great to see her face in her films.
