If dogs cant tell the difference between themselves and another dog its very strange that they sometimes kill other dogs, but maybe you dont believe in survival instincts? (dont kill yourself) And if the dog barks at the mirror it is barking at itself?

The younger brother Jiro died in the fifth expedition in July 1960 (1 year after surviving Antarctica, which is a damn shame) but Taro died at the age of 15 in 1970. I guess they where stuffed because they are national heroes of sorts.

When I visited South America,we were in the Jungle where civilization just touches it. In this village there are 2 dogs that no one knows who the belong to. The dogs leave before noon to later come back before sunset. People think they were somebodys pets but were left behind. So they were domestic dogs, but they figured out how to hunt all by themselves. This part of the jungle is very dangerous-insects and animals. I saw them and they were very lively and I stood in awe as to how they adapted.

I visited family in the Jungle and I don't live there. South American countries have some of the worst cases of animal cruelty. Some people love their pets, others use them just to keep burglars away, others use them to have babies so they can sell the pups and others never feed their dogs and let them loose so they can find food for themselves. I've seen dogs drink contaminated water in the streets. Some counties don't even have women's rights so I think animal rights is last on the list.

It's just instinct. They have an instinct to bond with members in a pack, they don't think about what their doing. They dont even have self awareness in other words they don't know they exist.thats why they chase their tails and bark at their reflection, they can't tell the difference between themselves and another dog. Animals like dolphins, Great apes, and elephants can recognise themselves in mirrors so they are aware of their own existence.
