The best 3 ended up in the bottom 3 together. They all had truly powerful voices. You had to vote for just 1. If only one of them was just on that season then it would have been clear cut. That's why I say they split the vote.

What would American Idol have to feel "dumb" about? The structure of the competition is not letting her win, but leaving the votes to the American viewers. This is actually the structure of idol competitions around the world. Jennifer Hudson didn't win because people didn't vote for her, not because the producers didn't "let" her win. La Toya London was the early favorite and front runner that season but in the later part America noticed her boring personality and was voted off which made Fantasia won the competition.
