There are Latinos who don't even speak Spanish or Portuguese (I've met some who only spoke English or some variation of Spanglish). -People in Portuguese speaking countries are known as Lusotanics.

The Spanish conquered every country in South America except Brazil, which was colonised by the Portuguese. It does not matter what language we speak because if the Spanish did not come to Latin America we would all speak different dialects, for example, half of Chile would speak Quechua from the Incas and Huilliche/Mapudungun from the Mapuche tribes, instead of Spanish.
