  • love this song :-)

  • timbo is a jack ass for trying to make it seem devante jack his style when it is a the basement sound what makes him better then static mayjor he probaly mad cuz Devante thought static was the most talented out of the group. They all shit on Devante now that ppl dont know about him that much but, timbo should slap himself cuz devante was a Genius and his not timbo makes crazy beats Devante made great music and was more musical then just useing samples. They all need to be thankfully to D

  • Damn G is my boy but I've never heard this track! Lost treasure here

  • he sound so young this is when i had a bad crush on him

  • nice beat!

  • Anyone have a link to download the album?

  • How do you know about the track listing for the unreleased Ginuwine album??? Please answer.

  • hey where did you get the info about an unreleased cd?

  • I believe DeVante is the one who influenced Timbaland - NOT the other way around. I agree teandrabirkett.

  • @mkaganful right!

  • he trained and put timberland on know your facts!

  • Dude Davante is one of timbalands mentor.

  • @timfosho

yeah, copy of timbalands. This is like saying 2pac was copying from some moron like JaRule.

    Timbaland is nothing.

  • he sound young

  • These are 90 type beats period full of soul& bass & just ugh makes me wish I were born in ealier times so that this wouldnt have to be my generation -_-...after 2007 downhill in music in my opinion

  • On njs4ever.com there is interviews with ex members of Da Bassment, I cant link them it wont let me. One is called - Special Feature: Da Bassment - Susan Weems Pt.1 which should be on the bottom of the home page.

And the other - NJS4EVER Interviews Accion - formerly of Devante Swing's Da Bassment is in the News Archive - Part 3 link.

    Recogniiiiiize!

  • Devante is one of the greatest if not the greatest R & B composer of all time....If it wasnt for Devante there wouldn't be a Timbaland, just like if there wasn't a Teddy Riley there wouldn't be a Devante Swing. Every great that comes out helps the next one up...Just give credit when it's due and stop hating...Devante is Great...Plain and simple

  • Devante is awesome. He is an ARTIST not just a PRODUCER...

  • mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhh 24 360 580 i need your love its driving me crazy.

  • @timfosho Bullshit.

  • @VAswang Quote from a timbaland interview - "Devante did that (Love You Down), but that style came from me. That's my style. He put that style on Tupac's double CD too." He apparently stopped working with Devante when kept hearing his signature style used in songs devante was making...

  • @timfosho He was referring to those minimalist stutter-type beats on those songs, the ones that later made Timbaland famous. You can tell the songs that Timbaland influenced, and this isn't one of them. DeVante's style and Timbaland's style were obviously different.

  • @VAswang very very different...I like Devante' s style more, no one does it like this anymore...that is sad

  • Comment removed

  • @VAswang Actually Timberland is De Vantes protege and studied under him they worked together....He is the original..forget what timberland saays.

  • @timfosho Well I don't know if Tim influenced DeVante on some tracks, but DeVante SURELY influenced his entire artistry. All of them cats, Missy, Playa, Tim & Magoo, Tweet. U can tell they worked with him from the way they crafted their albums and all of that. And if Tim thought D was biting he would've probably came out dissing DeVante as soon as he got in the game but he didn't cause he respected him as a man/artist too much.

  • @dawb86 I guess we'll never be able to find out who influenced whom... plus there was no need for Tim to diss because he instantly became a highly revered producer while devante was fading away. Its odd how now Tim is like considered a god producer and Devante is a crackhead or something

  • @timfosho I don't think the fact that DeVante helped groom Tim 2 become the producer he was is arguable, though. Even though Tim is still the man I think people go crazy over his beats simply off of name value at times, u know? It's a Timbo joint, so it's automatically hot. I still like his beats, but I don't know if I love 'em like I used to. DeVante still the 'god producer' too, he just haven't turned it on in a while. I personally don't think dude is hooked on anything, he just... weird. LOL.

  • @timfosho Da Bassment sound is the sound that Tim used to get his early success. It's in interviews with the people that were a part of the group and saw it all go down. Da Bassment sound was not solely DeVante, or Tim, it was created by all the beat makers of that crew. It was DeVante's vision, and I really wish it was a success. Tim would not have a style to try and claim if he was never a part of Da Bassment. That's FO SHO

  • @timfosho nah dude, devante was there before timba. So thats bull.

  • @timfosho

Tim didnt even have a signature style when he was in the basement. He gained his knowledge of music producing through The Great DeVante swing.

  • @LetzDoitAll Everyone keeps saying that... but wheres the proof? I'm not hatin, im just askin cus I'm curious myself.

  • @timfosho

They interviewed some of the members of the basement. one of them was smokey that's how i know Tim didn't have a signature style.

  • @timfosho

Uh homie who you think helped him develop that style.

Davante gave him studio time probably taught how to run a drum machine.

Timbaland's style was so easy that's why anyone could copy it.

    Devante acctually plays instruments.

    Much more talent there.

  • @icecoldcity He did teach him how to use a drum machine. I remember reading an interview Devante did in 09 while on that Jodeci tour in Europe and they asked him about Timbaland 's success and he said he was happy for him. He also said he helped him because when Timbaland got to him he didn't know how to use a drum machine.

  • @timfosho bullshyt devonte was out b4 timbaland

  • @timfosho dude devante brought out the whole va crew missy timberland magoo ginuwine. missy said he was suppose to put them on but he was very busy at that time and the went on with what he had taught them and they did it big.

  • @timfosho u dumb ass devante made that style and timbo was under him and missy look at diary of a mad credits i dont care what timbo says he's know for steeling a niggers beat

  • @SuperHyphyOne thank you! Now can you tell me who is rapping on Can U Get Wit It w/ Magoo and timbo cuz it don't sound anything like Devante.

  • @VAswang

    The link doesn't work!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Thanks, but the link doesn't work!

  • @SuperHyphyOne m4a is youtube vid format isnt it?

  • @slip902

m4a is AAC audio from iTunes. Youtube video format from a computer is flv (flash video)

  • @SuperHyphyOne lmfao i forgot im slow sometimes.....to many beers or smoked to much sticky icky....lol.....makes sense now....

  • Other notable tracks on the CD I mentioned are: Devante's Private Collection: Can U Get Wit It feat. Timbaland & Magoo, Bad Azz feat. Snoop Dogg - We Be Puttin It Down (Remix), Ice Cube feat. Noreaga & Gillie Da Kidd - Pushing Weight (Remix). True that a couple of these song can be found commerically but only on 12" and very hard to find on CD format, but i'll see what I can do about uploading it. I'll come by with the link when I do

  • This song came from a Priority Records promotional compilation. There are several other songs on the disc that weren't commercially released as well as this one by Ginuwine. Several years ago on ebay I was lucky enough to get an original pressing of this disc. BTW: since the people are demanding that DeVante make his return....There is another DeVante produced track on this CD.

  • @SuperHyphyOne

Upload that album!! Or, send me the mp3s and I'll upload it!!!

  • @SuperHyphyOne I am with VAswang on that too! Please and thank you!!! I am sick and tired of birthday sex and all these cats thinking that they've got the cuts....this is nice.....Thank you VAswang!!!

  • @SuperHyphyOne

oh my goodness, can i puh-leeeeze get that mp3, too?

pretty please w/ a cherry on top??

  • @vinceblake whats up with rebok and mr brendal? ive talk to marcus and enok from black n wild and i forgot about my dude keith

  • @swingmobbin I was kool with Rebok. She went to Brockport with 1 of my cousins Damion back in da dayz. I did not really hang with Brendal, cuz I was mainly upstairs hanging with Max, Wang, Jodeci, Renee, Shawn Powell and the rest of Da Roc Crew. I was not there during the 2nd wave cuz me, Max & Wang flexed from Dajhelon a month before the 2nd wave.

  • where can i find this unreleased album ?? never heard these songs

  • i miss devante's beats

  • I been looking for this song forever so many people think I'm crazy when I tell them do you remember that ginuwine I want you track thanks a bunch ! Dope ass song

  • YEP THE SAME FOR ME SHORTY

  • VA, thanks alot for sending me the link man, appreciate it.

  • Darn, I just want this song bad. Unreleased huh, man no wonder it's so hard to find. :(

  • @Ecite LIMEWIREEEEE

  • man, what is the real name to this song I cannot find it anywhere

  • If this song were officially released, I'm unaware of it. I always thought it was from Da Bassment unreleased archives.

  • It was unreleased for retail. It was G's 1st single off his album. But dat song was released on da radio and it use to be on heavy rotation at the radio station in Rochester called W.I.T.R 89.7 FM, were Maija Max was runnin' da show with Daddy Phil & DJ Green Lantern when at da time Green Lantern was knowned as James 1 The Green Lantern. Maija Max was the guy who put most of the bassment's & Dejilon studio's artists on there. And I'm suprised dat you found some of these songs.

  • That's da name of the song. Cuz dat was the 4th song he ever recorded cuz I was there.

  • This song DID come out! I specifically remember recording this off of the radio in middle school!!

  • I remember hearin this on the Radio too- and I thought it was so tight then and still is...

  • Did Ginuwine ever bring this out???? He should have....the beat is hot and he sounds smooth as hell!!! Thanx for the post

  • nope unreleased song lol.... he never brought out a song that devante produced for him.....

  • Yes he brought it out a LONG time ago! I was in middle school! I thought I was the only one who knew this song! Glad I found it. Proves I am not crazy!! LOL

  • sick song

  • I want i want Youuu Aaaay---girl i want u!!! whooo! dis my jam i love u Ginuwine

  • someone hook up this mp3

  • Susan Weems - Former Da Bassment Member Interview At njs4ever website

So No More Guessing Here's The Real Story From Somebody That Was Actually There.

  • LOVE THIS JAM.

  • wow me too i've been looking for this song for -EVER!

  • Wow, I've been looking for this song for years! Anyone know where I can download a cd quality version? Props to you for posting this though...

  • I have been looking everywhere for this song! Thanks for posting!

  • omg i have been looking for this song for years! thanks soooo much!!

  • this is a great song!!!

  • o come on, this shit is raw as fuck. Ginuwine should have had this on his first album lol...

  • This song is very good, it's just not his style. I think he did good using a style like Jodeci. But yea, his style is WAAAY better.

  • Thank you VA... I knew this song was hot to somebody else...

  • Hahaha, i remember hearin this on the radio here in dallas a long time ago. They only played it once. I been lookin 4 it since.

  • this sounds good. but sounds like a different type of ginuwine style.

  • Thats cuz devante made this lol, he probably wanted ginuwine to sound like this. I wonder how ginuwine sound would have been if he would have stuck with de?????

  • I think if you would of stayed with devante his career would of not have been nearly as sucessful. He came out strong with pony with that creative timbaland beat. THis song is good but It sounds like any other r&b song.He could of just faded into the back ground because he sounds like alot like the other r&b cats on this joint.

  • I wouldn't say that cuz this wasn't a single for his album. This beat is hot if u bumb it in ya car lol. Nah devante had plenty of raw songs for ge. Like slip and slide was supposed to be for ginuwine but de gave it to danny boy. But ginuwine sings the chorus on that song tho you can hear it lol. He was young in this song that's why he sounds like a regular singer but I still love this joint.

  • i think devante is very talented produced song he sound very sexy

  • timbo learnt his shit from devante........devante started these sounds in da bassment

  • whoever that is that said Devante Swing was a "one hit wonder" needs to KILL THEMSELF!!! And I would never suggest this action to anyone but thats too much stupidity to go around!!!! One of his BEST productions wasnt even a JODECI song, it was Usher's "Can U Get Wit it" CLassic shit for real!!!!

  • @thick1921 your stupid, but no because you didn't say the right things about devante, but because you didn't regonize his genius devantes songs "i'm still waiting" and "cry for you" blow can u get with it out the fucking water.

  • @TwelveChariots First of all, this site is about matters of opinion and how DARE you call me "STUPID" when I am far from that!!! By the way I am VERY EDUCATED in matters of Jodeci and Devante's production, been a fan ( A REAL ONE ) and happened to state a song of his that I FEEL slipped under the radar that most people didnt even know he produced!! I said ONE OF HIS BEST...not his best!!! Watch your fuckin mouth ...for real!!! It wasnt even THAT serious!!

  • Heard that. Nice tune. My favorite Devante track had to be Montell Jordan - What´s On Tonight. That was an amazing combination and they should have done a full album.

  • @elektroindi Devante produced that? Wow. What other non-Jodeci songs did he do?

  • He did loads of non Jodeci songs. Half of Al B Sure Sexy Versus was produced or co produced by D. One worth checkin from that joint was Turn You Out. He produced tracks for Father MC, Tony Thompson, Mary J Blige, H Town, Jeff Redd, Christopher Williams and 2 PAC. He fully produced an album by Missy Elliot's first group SISTA and reportedly was working with Madonna around the time she dropped Ray of Light. He also did a track with Aerosmith believe it or not.

  • @elektroindi I know the Tony Thompson track he did, I believe it's called Handle Our Business. And of course H Town's Part Time Lover. Tupac's Bring the Pain. Mary J's I don't wanna do anything else. Usher's Can you get wit it. Changing Face's Keep it right there. I wanna say he produced the Jodeci song on the Murda Was the Case soundtrack too featuring Daz and Kurupt. He definitely did his thing!

  • does any1 kno were the full unreleased album can be found.......been browsing the net for all the songs can't find any except this one

  • LOL @ the one who said Devante Swing is a one-hit wonder.

  • LOL No DeVante is NOT a one hit wonder! he produced many number 1 songs for JODECI, USHER, and songs for tupac, mary j blige, al b sure, aerosmith, kc and jojo, mariah carey, michael jackson.. and many other big names, Do Research on DeVante swing

  • I nkow he aint no one time hit wonder lol. I am a huge fan of him. I don't where you got that shit from lol. I got so many songs that he produced for artists that you probably havent heard yet lol

  • send me some shit then!

  • wat song did devante do for mike jackson?

  • do you by any chance have the tracks posted in the description? i would love to hear the original version of pony

  • is there a different pony version with devante producing it ?????

  • don't think so, pony was always produced by timbo, written by static and performed by g

  • It was produced by both DeVante & Timbaland, cuz I was there when my cousin recorded Ginuwine. And Pony was the first song he ever recorded. Cuz around that time, DeVante hired my cousin to show Missy, Timbaland and others the ropes in producing beats on the korg protools swichboard with instruments and 5 mics connected to the Korg. Cuz around that time DeVante was working with Jodeci on the 3rd album, plus interviews and photoshoots, etc. I was there in the summer and winter of 1994.

  • did he teach them how to actually PRODUCE music? was timbaland CLUELESS in production before he got there? or did he already know how?

  • #1 Yes, #2 I did not say he was clueless. He knew some things with the old tech. What we had at the time was new tech, they combined computers, korg protools, turntables, a variety of instruments, and 5 mics connected to the Korg switchboard. He was teaching them how to sharpen up on there production and master the levels on instrumentals. Cuz my cousin was the only producer in Rochester to bring all aspects and all cutures in life. But my cousin did not want credit cuz he loved music not money.

  • So how do i learn how to prof=duce like them? because i see already devante is not going to bring the sound back. so i would definatley be the one to bring it back, r&b is shitty right now and i am tired of this shit.

  • I agree with you. Check your pm for da info homie.

  • i'm sorry i mean produce. i don't see anything in my personal message box.

  • Word up. Im straight tired of this shit too.

  • but bro i am sure DeVante taught Timbaland alot i mean tim was a fuckign dj LMFAO..... Timbaland, missy and ginuwine even static wouldn't be shit without the presence of devante and jodeci.... I am sorry yall but that is just the truth... Devante is the most underated songwriter/producer in this planet.. Timbaland beats stink right now and he is trying to do pop now so please yall.... Devante come back please and make music alive again..

  • Nah, I don't have any of those tracks. I wish I did.

  • When G's on t.v. he always gives thanks 2 devante swing.

  • You sure about this? The only Bassment members I've heard have anything positive to say about DeVante were the members of Playa. Tim, Missy and Gin seem to dislike him.

  • Naw I read a magazin were ginuwine was talking about having him, tank and tyrese form a group tgt and have the devate swing swagg lol. He didn't put him down but timbaland seems like he never gave devante any credit

  • I remember talk of them forming a group. But I also heard that DeVante pulled a gun on Ginuwine backstage after one of his shows!!

  • I heard that too on a article when they talked about devante swing. But did ginuwine ever say that????????

  • he pulled a gun on Ginuwine?! O_O...he's a NUT! It seems like its always the one hit wonders who snap like that. smh

  • DeVante is a one-hit wonder???

  • @buttaluv10 One hit wonder??? gotta love, stay, forever my lady, come and talk to me, i'm still waitin, cry for you, feenin, lately, love u 4 life, what bout us, freakin you, all i see, can u get wit it.

count that please. and these are no ordinary songs, all time classics for sure. and don't let me start on his album tracks. one hit wonder. lol.

  • yeah i heard he was rolling around with suge during the time and was influenced by that.... needless to say he ended up just like death row.... but yeah alot of stuff i didnt know happened during that time like i didnt know tim was shot in the neck

  • Timbaland was shot in the neck?

  • Yes, I remember reading awhile back in I think a 2000 issue of VIBE that before Timbaland hit it big, he was working at a restaurant and the place got robbed. He was shot during the hold up.

  • yea I gathered that too, Playa always said he was a genius and that you couldnt put all the blame on him, and they were all young, all had their issues

  • It's a shame. Da bassment crew material didn't see the light of day when they were together. The sounds they created can never be duplicated.

Their stuff is hard to find!!

  • ha ha. i remember this. i had this about, 2 years ago. yeah, deVante did this.

  • so this was on a mixtape or something?? Why was this never released????

  • I mean this song is banging hot and did devante really produce this????? How can I get this song????

  • Comment removed

  • wow...looking forward to seeing more rare stuff by da bassment...i got a bunch of playa/static major stuff on my channel

  • hey did the bassment ever make an album with devante?????

  • yeah i believe they had a compilation record

  • cool man where u find dis?

  • A guy named donchichi hooked me up with it.

  • Well 'Hello' donchichi!!...
