Lol, when Marie and her nephew kiss, I like how Walsingham is just like >_>. Great actor Geoffrey is, he plays this type of character very well. He plays any character well!
He didn't assassinate Mary de Guise per se, but it was he who was responsible for gathering incriminating evidence on her whilst she was under house arrest in England, and was then executed by Elizabeth.
That said, he's certainly cool enough to kill just about anybody, the James Bond of the Tudor period.
@Rennikus He is beyond Bond. He is sinisterely cool. Best character from the period, indeed one of my faviroute in English history. Of course Cecil is pretty decent, being a lad and all that, but Walsingham, though made slightly ott on historical fact here, for me is more interesting than even the mighty E herself.
Oh well ! I don't know the real and historic story of Mary de Guise... but a lot of historic details have been re-invented by the director for this film !
It's a very good expression to describe her. Every time I look at her I can't imagine how it is to be so beautiful, seductve and talented... It really makes make feel quite pathetic but still I can't stop watching movies with her.
He's georgeous in that scene and very seductive but, come on, she's also great! Beautiful, in an evil way, and she uses her charms on him in the same way he uses his.
It's hard to say... Whatever she does whith that knife, it's perfect! I can't find a man who wouldn't be amazed at her. Even my brother, who likes only, You know, young girls, said that her eyes blazed with desire. And I agree with fim completely. But, about Your guestion, I think that Walsingham was also amazed, but, unfortunately, he had taht evil plan... :(
well at least she died like, the luckiest woman on earth...
I just watched this film, I remember turning the volume up whenever he came on screen ^^ I never knew he could be so sexy! I did always have a little crush on Barbossa, but other than that I'd only seen him in silly stuff like Mystery Men. He was neat there and all, but in Elizabeth he was such a sexual character! Thanks for this clip <3
Ah Ah !!!! Mary de Guise died as a happy woman !!!!! so true !!!
You're so right when you call Walsingham a sexual character !!!!!!!
Hey !!! Are you a "rushie" ?!?!... ;)
Barbossa is one of Geoffrey Rush's greatest characters, I agree, Walsingham is beyond words... but did you see him in "Quills" as the Marquis de Sade ?...
Heh, well I do have a crush right now, but sorry, I'm not a fangirl this time ^^ I'm guessing you are, and you're so lucky, being a fangirl is the most glorious thing! And well I do remember the movie Quills, but it's so long since I saw it I don't remember Geoffry being in it! Sorry! And no I haven't seen the other one ^^ Sure will now!
SUCH A BEAST

Walsingham was one of the most dangerous men of his century, but I don't think he assassinated a queen; although for Elizabeth he did many things.

MMmmh ! Me likes dangerous men ! ;)
Naaah seriously, I think you're right !... He assassinated a lot of people who threatened his queen... but certainly not a queen...
Shekhar Kapur took some freedoms about the reality for this film... but we won't complain about this ! ;)

I thought that Mary de Guise died from sweating sickness when her daughter wasn't even a year old.

Marie de Guise mourut vraiment comme ca?

First, thanks for your French comment ! really touching !!!!
Then...No, I don't think Marie de Guise died this manner !...
"Elizabeth" is a very romanticized film, and lots of historical errors are in it !
