This is because Canadians value stability before short term profit. Canadian banks are highly regulated. If the US followed Canada's lead, the US would once again be one of the best countries in the world.

The US Federal Reserve as well as all central banks around the world are regulation all over the place by definition. The US Federal Reserve is a part of the US Regulatory-Industrial Complex because it limits free market activity and removes the self defense of property. Yes campaigns should be a lot less expensive. But no, money doesn't buy an election.

The US has had plenty of millionaires and billionaires vie with their own personal money for office. They've neither been all successful nor all failures. Heck Ross Perot would have won the Presidency if it just took money.

People actually get repulsed if a candidate is using a heck of a lot more money than another.

Are you going to vote for the candidate who got the most money? Why would everyone else?

While maybe not you, many people are influenced by television and radio advertising. That's why companies spend so much money advertising their products. If special interests can fund a whole variety of supposedly independent PACs to blanket the media with their message then, in all likelihood, that message will hit home with enough people to get their candidate elected.

Even with the advertising they've purchased they still haven't bowled over everyone else. My point is it's hardly the end of the world if this happens.

Corporate personhood isn't even a law, it's what the court (supreme) prefers, i.e. it's a consensus among judges. It's probably easier to get rid of corporate personhood, than the Fed. Only one problem with getting rid of corporate personhood is that it's still an obscure issue, like the issue of central banking up until a couple of yrs ago.
