If you guys are looking for bands there is an auction on ebay for the silver bands chief aj puts on his big game sling bow that has approx 45# pull. Chief aj sells them for $25 a set, the guy on ebay sells them for $9. If your looking for a heavy duty band to take down anything from rabbits to deer then check this one out. Just look up slingbow bands on ebay. He will work with you to customize your bands to, hes a good guy.

On the other hand: I have had wild deer walk right up on me while I was hunting in Wisconsin. Also, I heard recently that one major slingshot group's hunter of the year took a large black bear with an arrow and slingshot.( Hey man, not for ME though. Whew ! ). Quite a few deer have already been taken with similar rigs, and I heard that various folks are trying to get this type of setup and crossbow hunting legalized in more places.

@HondosPlace To clarify a point. I used a gun when I was hunting many years ago and several deer walked right up on us-- no buck though.We shoo-ed them. I had a buck on the other side of a log in NY though-chasing a doe that walked by, 20' away. As for penetration to kill a deer, I heard some sharp broadheads can go almost through a deer from a stickbow.

This is basically just fun to shoot and a possible survival tool so I am not justifying or defending anything , just adding some perspective

This looks good in theory, but I "know someone" who shot 2 deer with this and it was pitiful and barely punctured one lung. had to track for several miles.. horrible method of hunting a deer.

@cherrema1 I've goten a deer with it. No problem...... I hope your freind had the right shaft of arrows cause mine proformed like a 35-40 # bow, I shot mine at about 20 yards and the deer only ran like 40 yards.....

If you take an animal with this it is hunting, if you don't have a license its poaching, it doesn't matter if its classed as a crossbow, slingshot or a lawnmower, shot it at an animal and its hunting. Don't think that because its isn't a firearm you can do anything with it.

He cheated on stacking the two arrows to show how accurate this sling bow is.

6:40 - till the first shot you don't hear anything much as the sling bow should sound.

Thus I beleive the first shot was by means of useing the sling bow.

Take note and listen to the knock of the second shot, it sounds like the second shot was prepped useing a bow. I could be wrong. What is your opinions?

This is far more practical and concealable than a regular bow. sure a compound bow has more stopping power, but this bow can be used almost anywhere. I can see military application with this thing.

Applying a very thin film of scent-free petroleum jelly on the first 6" of the shaft and on the broadhead will give you even more penetration. Bow hunting is all about physics, and sling shot arrows need every advantage we can give the arrow to do It's job. Remember, just a VERY THIN film of it will make the arrow penetrate deeper. Test it...you'll see :-)
