  • Thanks Laura

  • @cherubicwindigo btw, we must not forget that Microsoft were one of the strongest sopa/pipa supporters, maybe the strongest one - i boycott Microsoft since 5 years ago (and i have no plans on using their stuff back) - this about sopa/pipa could be an awesome opportunity for more people boycotting it as well - what are your thoughts about this?

  • @nitturo Microsoft is a huge corporation, which always leads to lobbying and interfering with politics. Until my country's citizens demand change to the entire legislative system, we won't be able to stop every corporation from buying our politicians. Unfortunately things are going to get much worse before they get better and inevitably a line will be crossed that people just can't accept.

  • @cherubicwindigo thank you a lot for sharing this video! :*

  • Yeah SOPA and PIPA are really scary bills that weren't very thought out. Way to go to get the word out there. I hope you're able to go to E3 sometime soon. =)

  • @Gamester81 After listening to you allgengamers go on and on about PAX, I might have to swing my savings in another direction. Either way it's going to cost a pretty penny in travel and lodging expenses but since PAX East is closer, it might not be as ridiculously expensive. I wish I didn't have such a tight budget so I could go to both.

  • MARRRRIO!!!

  • One thing that disturbs me the most is the fact that most people DO NOT CARE about legislation in this country unless it pertains to "their" business. You want to know something scarier than these bill? How About the NDAA a bill that was signed into law that allows military personel arrest US citizens. They will be taken to an undisclosed location with no lawyer or phone call. They can do this if you are a supporter of "terorism" or suspected to be asccociated with groups that are deeemed.

  • @Bock728 I don't know about other people but I like to stay informed on all the current legislation. I watch a lot of C-Span. And yes, I was deeply disturbed when the NDAA bill was signed into law and I felt personally betrayed by Mr. Barack Obama because he previously said he would veto it. Unfortunately there isn't a whole lot "we the people" can do. By encouraging this boycott and participating myself I am trying to do my part and use the little power I have. Ron Paul for President.

  • @cherubicwindigo Heck yeah Ron Paul for President! Nice to see that some people like to keep up with these critical issues. Its also nice that you support freedom! Ron Paul Revolution 12! Revolution is rEVOLution :)

  • The most effective way to fight the video game Cartels is indeed, to stop buying new releases. All the major game companies support SOPA and PIPA. All of them. Regardless of their double talk, none of the big gaming compaines have withdrew their membership from ESA.

Stop buying new released games until ESA withdraws their support of SOPA and PIPA publicly. All the gaming cartels care about is our money. Thats it. So stop giving it to them. Stop buying new released video games!!

  • @skirm123 That is true and currently I am not buying any new releases. Unfortunately it's hard to convince gamers not to buy the latest video game. ^_^

  • Awesome video! I felt the same way and was going to do the same thing until I found out about the ESA's involvement with SOPA and PIPA. Thumbs up for freedom and liberty on the Internet!!!!!

  • By this logic, shouldn't we also boycott all games put out by publishers that are under the ESA umbrella? I mean, they also pay into the ESA's coffers, and if we buy those games, aren't we contributing in that way too?

So, maybe we shouldn't buy anything from: Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft, EA, Ubisoft, THQ, Konami, Capcom, XSEED and many more.

  • @tvandlust Yes, boycotting all games released by companies that support SOPA and PIPA would be great if it was feasible at all. Unfortunately that would be much more difficult to organize and harder to convince the entire gaming community that it's the only option. Luckily if there is enough of a positive response to the E3 boycott it will send the right message to the ESA, who is the loudest voice in video game industry lobbying. If the ESA is convinced other companies will follow.

  • @cherubicwindigo Then at that point, you're not targeting the ESA, the actual entity that you have a grievance with, you're targeting an event that affects more than just the ESA, from PR people, to journalists, to even the hospitality industry in LA.

My previous post was sardonic; I know it's not feasible, but if you're going to boycott something, then you boycott it. You can't just target one thing that also affects a ton of other people. It's messy and unfocused.

  • @tvandlust Sacrifice is a given when boycotting anything. I know that others besides myself will suffer if the boycott is successful. I only hope that those caught in the crossfire can appreciate that this boycott is the only thing I can think to do. This is the only way I can see to let the ESA know that many people are strongly against these bills. I'm hearing a lot of complaints but no solutions, instead of balking at my boycott why not help me think of something better?

  • @cherubicwindigo You do understand that your (our) grievance with SOPA is that we its collateral damage, right? That we are "caught in the crossfire" against piracy? Now go back and read what you just wrote and tell me how you sound ANY better. You're calling for the SAME EXACT THING.

Both ideas are akin to blowing up an orphanage because a few bandits have hid out there. I don't think I need to have a better idea to tell you blowing up an orphanage is lame.

  • @tvandlust I am trying to respect your opinion, you are a few years older than myself and your channel is enjoyable. But comparing a few hotels making less money to brutally murdering orphans by blowing them up, I don't know how I could have possibly given the impression that I am an uncaring person. I'm not going to accuse you of being wrong if you don't boycott E3. Even if you feel that way about me because I am participating in the boycott, I have to do what I think is right.

  • @cherubicwindigo Of course I'm not comparing anything to murdering orphans so much as I am making the point that you are forcing other people to make a sacrifice they did not ask for, for YOUR cause. That makes you no better than the architects of SOPA and PIPA.

And even then, I do not believe you to be uncaring. Just the opposite. But that's the problem. You're letting passion trump reason.

  • @tvandlust I love how two people can think so differently. I know that I am right and you know you are right. Isn't it fascinating? Perception and reality are so intertwined. I don't even mind being called unreasonable, I've always been more of a Kirk than a Spock anyway. Though it's fiction, those two types of people love and help each other as best friends despite their differences.

  • @cherubicwindigo Haha, well, yes, this is true. Do not think I think less of you or your videos.

  • You are awesome....and hot.

  • Good luck Laura... ;o) x
