Say the average fair was 10.25ish (between cash, ez pass peak and offpeak), and the average traffic was 120,000 cars. The city is taking in a little over 1.2 million a DAY. 450 million a year. Tunnel paid off in roughly 72 days. Amazing investment!
Never been to new york, but I've driven in London before and for some reason, driving in New York at night feels soooooo lively i really wanna just drive from L.A to new york lol.
@stunnastan00 Thanks, bro! I've got a night video of the 110 through downtown LA, but I'm hoping to get back out there soon to film some other things.
Nice video, BUT the asshole mayor asshole bloomberg is the one who screwed up Times Square so you can no longer really drive through it all the way. I was born and raised in New York and I'm pissed that the jerk bloomberg did this. What was it his business to close down streets and avenues in Times Square? He's just a bastard.
@2000newyorkcity I have to say, I was slightly pissed to find out that I couldn't continue driving down Broadway through Times Square like I used to be able to. That really messed up this video, since my original intention was to drive through the heart of TS to film. However, I can't speak for certain on this, but I think the closure of Broadway has greatly improved traffic flow through the area.
It has. The city's done multiple studies that have shown that traffic flow downtown on 7th Ave has been dramatically improved. West 42nd Street remains a disaster. I'm not sympathetic to those that complain about the closures there or in Herald Square and Union Square. This is not a car city, and never should be. More than three-quarters of New Yorkers don't even OWN cars.
@CosmoPhotography Yes, a tripod over the passenger seat is a good idea - only when you are driving with nobody on your side. Ever considered using a windshield or dashboard mount?
@localdriver Thanks! I'm currently in the process of trying to improve my annotation format. Was it the size, font, speed, or any combination of the three that made you not able to read the captions?
@CosmoPhotography I found there was simply too much to read! Should I read the captions or should I watch the video? I couldn't do both. Could you do a voice-over? Great film, nevertheless.
@localdriver Thanks for your feedback. I'm always looking for ways to improve the viewing experience, so I'll definitely see what I can do about that. I believe having background music is an integral part of the video, so, in in my opinion, doing voice-overs would greatly detract from the viewing experience. Also, I don't think anyone would want to hear my voice anyway...LOL :-) Thanks again for your comment!
@MurcielagoCar For future reference, I do list the songs titles and artists at the end of every video. The song I used in this video is "Feels So Good (Jerome Isma-Ae Remix)" by Armin Van Buuren (feat. Nadia Ali).
This was truly phenomenal, especially the street's you choose to drive around Manhattan. Makes me realize there's so much more to NYC that I haven't seen yet. Favorited!
@FreewayBrent Thank you a lot, Brent! I barely scratched the surface in terms of recording all of the awesome neighborhoods and streets within the five boroughs. I'm going back this Christmas and plan on getting Fifth Ave, Lower Manhattan (WTC Site, Tribeca, Battery Park City), Little Italy/SoHo/Chinatown, and portions of Brooklyn and Queens on film. Come back to the east coast, and I'll show you NY right! :-) Thanks again for your continued support, bro.
You have singlehandedly made this city more beautiful then it already is through a single YouTube video alone. I go to the city all the time, and I never realized how amazing it truly is until I just saw this video.
@closeddoors Wow, thanks for this! It's comments like these that encourage me to keep doing what I do. I get the most satisfaction with these videos when viewers come away with learning something they didn't know about an area and/or enjoy how I present an area or city through film. Thank you again!
@GigaElectricBird It's on my list of roads to film, but it's just a matter of getting up to the DC area. I'll be heading back up north in December, so I may have a chance to film it then.
That was such an exhilarating ride through Times Square, and enjoyed it, as I visited NYC(finally) 2 years ago. My only small wish is that you could have filmed 44th St. and/or 45th St. where NYC's theater district is based on, but won't hold that against you, since you covered the rest of Times Square well.
It is still weird to think they closed off Broadway to traffic through Times Square, since that change was only implemented months before I visited NYC in summer 2009. Great vid!
@prfsnlwannabe Thank you! I'll be heading back for the holidays, so I'll see what I can do about possibly getting that on film. :-) And yeah, I was really surprised to find out they closed Broadway through Times Square, because I was planning to go straight through the center of TS for this video. I suppose it's better for pedestrians/tourists though...I guess lol
@Bryant5493 Thank you, Bryant! Columbus Circle is a mess to get through during the day, but it's a really nice place due to recent renovations and additions such as the Time Warner Center.
@Georgonia Love Westchester! My grandfather used to live in Somers, before he relocated to South Florida with the rest of NY haha. Thanks for watching! I really appreciate your comment.
Thats trully awesome my friend! NYC is one of the most incredible city in the world and thats what I just saw in your video ! Can't wait to be back there. If it's not by road, it's only 1h15 by the airs from Montreal .. so it's very accesible :) . Thanks I faved and got u 5*.
@Franks4488 Thank you, and I'm glad you enjoyed the video! :-) I've never been to Montreal, but I've driven I-87 into the northern parts of the Adirondacks near the Canada border. I absolutely love that drive!
There is no other city in world like NYC the five boroughs, Manhattan,Staten Island, The Bronx, Queens, and Brooklyn all make up NYC. in the air looks like a mega city bigger than LA downtown but i think not bigger in area as LA. I think Mexico City still the Largest city in Population in world

@igcompany Thank you! I've been busy the last several months, but my recent and future releases are from a trip to New England I took this past August. I have two Boston videos coming up, two from Raleigh/Durham, one from Jacksonville, FL, and one from South Florida still haha.
@aswchris Thanks, Chris! I'd probably have to say between 40 and 50 minutes? I was hoping to include more in this tour, but NYC traffic is horrendous which defeated that thought.
