Wow. So original. Did they come up with this all by themselves? Oh, wait, no. Sorry, Apple did this like, oh, 25 years ago. Mac haters late as always!!!!
@steenkypeet, lol, what a fucked up name lol, sounds like stinky feet, you just mad cause the iPad sold more than any other tablets out there.... YOU HATER
This is not the first time this concept was done. I shot “Do Not Disconnect,” a short film in 2009, about a girl that tries to break out of a world where everyone is plugged into their headphones. Since I’m not expecting credit from Motorola, I’m asking people to please take a few minutes to watch how this idea was first done. Decide for yourself if you think this is too similar.
It’s not an ad; it’s a fun, heartfelt indie short film.
@Alhoshka I am aware of the previous 1984 Apple commercial. We didn't create the "1984" dystopian environment. We do think that our take on it, a world where everyone is plugged into their white headphones with no interaction, is a unique comment for today. This Motorola commercial replicates exact edits and shots at the end. I also pitched this idea to an LA comm prod company before funding it myself. All we want is for people to decide themselves. Please watch with an open mind.
@Alhoshka Here's the YouTube for my film. You can also search "Do Not Disconnect short film". Do you not see a lot of extreme similarities at the end? youtube.com/watch?v=hmRsfnZJh0c

I'd still get an iPad though. The majority of the apps, games and etc. are made for the apple family so why would I waste 800$ on the xoom if it can't provide as much possibilities as the ipad...
You dip shits that keep saying that motorola copied the iPad are a bunch of oxygen thieves with their heads caught up their ass! The XOOM does everything the iPad does but only better and does more than the iPad!!! Oh and perhaps you might realize that the iPad was not the first tablet!!! So whom is copying whom???
Lol, now everybody is going to buy apple products because the white suits with the iPod head phones looked pretty damn good. I'm going to get me an iPod, GO APPLE!!!!!
@ticalk11ng: I have played around with other e-readers. Their display have a 1 frame per second update because they use e-paper. Take a look at the teaser again. That page flip in the e-reader app on Android looks like the one in iBooks.
@ticalk11ng The issue is mostly that it's often opt-out, not opt-in, and you aren't often told up front you can opt out. And it's not always forthright: it certainly didn't mean to scrape e-mail and passwords with Street View cars, but it didn't see any problem with mapping every Wi-Fi access point, either.
Besides, no matter how much it meant to collect, or whether you have the chance of opting out, it's still aggregating a huge amount of info about your habits online.
Hey Moto, you talk about "freedom" but I need to used the stupid fucking Boostrap app for users to install my roms. I bootloop almost everyday. If speak of "freedom" remove blur and give me an unlocked bootloader.
@ticalk11ng I didn't say all, just as much as possible. Where you are. What your searches are. What you've bought. Eric Schmidt (CEO of Google until April) said that Google was trying to get up to "the creepy line;" just search for that quote; it was originally said on a Fox Business show, but CNET and others mention it.
Motorola is about as far from open as you can get. I have the Droid X, and they design it to be as hard as possible to install custom roms. Of course you can mostly get around it, but like everyone else says, unlock the bootloader. At least on an Iphone you're not forced to install a demo of Need for Speed when updating a rom like on my Droid X, and can't remove it! How is this open, I don't get it. Does open mean we get to have crapware forced on our phones?
There's a certain irony to trying to be anti-establishment when you're asking people to use an OS run by Google. You know, the company that wants as much personal information as possible?
directors cut is much better

@DoNotDisconnectFilm Do you really believe Motorola got the Idea from you, or is this just a sleazy tactic to promote your Short?
Does "January, 24th 1984" and "Apple" ring a bell?

Message: Buy a Xoom and you will automatically be the coolest / most unique person in the world.
But all kidding aside, if they managed to keep the weight low and the battery life long I'm actually really impressed by this thing.

but seriously moto, think of another ad concept, just because it did wonders for apple doesn't mean it will sell your tablet.
