So...even though it may not come now, here's to hoping for the future of the channel!
I sometimes feel the same way you do right now concerning pokemon. You just dont feel like playing. When I get this feeling i always try to do one of the following things
I start building teams, simply crafting unique teams, sometimes over the course of 2 days. And then you cant resist to test it, you simply cant. Or you try to tutor somebody, this sometimes motivates the tutor to play the game again. Just some random thoughts though, not guaranteed do work
I also think that doing MTG vids would be AWESOME. I would love to see TSP and ZMT back in action! I'm sure any old school fans of pokes would like to also.
As you said you get ideas from people leaving comments, so just on a chess note I've been playing a lot of the Fried Liver recently and been having good results, so you could try that.
I also have been a long time sub for the pokemon, but I love when you branch out and put your own spin on anything, from lp's to chess, so keep up the fantastic work. As for pokemon I would for sure be interested in any tournament you would host.
i feel for you, it's always hard when "you"(well, your channel so to speak) lose your original purpose, you also know that whatever you now do will be negatively taken because people dislike change. also let me say i started to follow you 2 years ago for your pokemon vids because you narated them and you voice wasnt ennoying. i will be sad to see no more pokemon vids anymore but i will still watch your videos because i support you as a person and a vid postter so to speak

if you want to get back into game you have to play really competitively. its the messing around with people where you dont even try to win that will get you bored real quick. i know it sounds weird but its true
I am really interested in the daft tournament idea you had there. Deciding the order of the may be a little problematic....I suggest a snake draft to make it a little more fair.
I'd be interested in a tourney seeing as mi wi-fi is up for the first time in ages. I think a gen 5 tourney would be interesting. Though that's also due to my recently having bred a gen 5 team ^^

Bof2 would be awesome. I actually liked Bof more than pokes. As for the tournament I'm interested. The one were you can only use a poke until it faints sounds interesting. It adds a new level of strategy.
I'd like to jump on the "I'll watch anything you post" bandwagon, but I can't. Because that could involve watching Black and White Wi-Fi Battles. (At least from thumbnails I see webcam is still around.) But BoF2 you know I'm down for. And D3 as well even though I'm no Diablo expert.
As for tournaments, you know I'll stay far away from anything pertaining to 5th or a simulator. But I'm a special case who doesn't like competing anyway, so don't mind me.
I know exactly how you feel. I play games in phases, so I'll rotate between different styles of games. Right now I can't bring myself to play pokemon in any form for longer than 5 minutes. Give it a month or two and I'll be addicted to pokemon again. I'd say just post whatever you want to, but I'm also one of those who will watch essentially anything you post.

you ever played any of the fire emblems? you could play any of those. or there is a game i really liked called tactics ogre the knights of lodis. they are very similr. maybe check that out. but really anything you up load is good to me.
I know it was probably recommended to you already, but why don't you try to get into 5th gen through PO? I takes like 5 Minutes to download, 10 to make a team and then you are ready to go. And with the new aesoft replayer the matches are even satisfying to watch. The metagame has settled down and the tiers are also worked out by now. I would love to see you giving it a shot and right now is the time to get into it again ^^.
You should make a stall team with rarely used (not the teir but just pokes you dont see) pokes like jumpluff and slowbro and nidoqueen and lapras and so on
Swiss is a good idea, thats what my chess national tournaments run as well. If there is a LOT of people you can accelerate the pairings. For example, in chess they want there to be only 1 perfect score after 7 rounds so they accelerate the pairings to make that happen.
@Rematch727 Yeah thats how they work.. though they max out at 8 rounds and REALLY huge tournaments just require everyone to be 7-1 or 7-0-1 to advance =/ lol
For example: I'm going to a tournament on Saturday in a format that I've done maybe 6 times... and every time I've been 4-2, or 4-1-1 and not made the Top-8. Very frustrating!
Loving your LP's, more of them would be awesome. I'm also super psyched for d3 but blind footage is lame, maybe make a mini play through AFTER you've played through once?

Dude seriously anything you do would be awesome i enjoyed breath of fire a lot it reminded me of the time when i used to play those LP's. And i saw a comment about Pokemon Online it would be easier and faster to do these tournaments i mean the battles take 5-10 mins max and you could build any team you want in a couple of minutes i'm sure you know about it.
I just wanted to say that YOU were the reason I started playing pokemon in a competitive light. I always liked your very patient style of play, and your commentary was both entertaining and informative. I even like your megaman LP's, even though I'm not a huge fan of classic LP's. If you do decide to quit playing pokemon, that's your choice. Although I'll be sadden by that, I knew it would eventually come since this neverending game does eventually get boring. I wish for the best for you.:D
I know for a long time I've wanted to see a huge tournament happen with a variety of game types and pokes! It could be structured like a football (or "soccer") world cup and gives everyone a fair chance. 3 OU/BL, 3 UU, 3 NU, game type changes each match - sometimes 3v3 OU singles, sometimes 4v4 doubles, sometimes a whole 6v6 mix tier, picked at random using those 9 guys. I think it would keep it interesting and it'd be great fun if it happened =)
bro y not try basing a new team around a gimick move or somethin,like really mental cores or moves people never see on unorthadox pokes. For example reflect type starmie or fire blast aero,might help spark an idea for a team
Now i dont know if you dont want to do this, but Pokemon Online would make the tournaments a lot easier. More people would be able to join, and it would be a little easier to organize and get time zones correct and all. Especially for someone who cant play on 4th gen DS. Stupid router security settings. As far as what type of tournament, monotype, mixed tier, there are alot that you could do. Either way, ill watch your vids, cuz your awesome.
If you ran a tourney, I'd advise you to experiment with using Pokemon Online for it. It's much more convenient for a lot of players and could help to potentially streamline the whole thing.
I would say go for a nuzlock it might rekindle something for pokemon or make you just even more bored :-\ you seemed to enjoy the BoF playthrough alot and I know you didnt get many views/comments/likes but the last video more people commented about how they wish it didnt end tbh I think I'd watch you play anything you enjoy thats what games are for right?
Definitely don't force anything, the best part of watching any of your vids is the enthusiasm you put into them, and it makes a big difference, like after you actually managed to dodge one of those waves of fire in Fire Man's stage back in the MM1 LP.
The draft tournament sounds like a pretty cool idea, actually, is that something you might participate in, or just organize?

I think the draft thing sounds pretty cool. Necessitates that people are more flexible with how they build their team. But then would you have only one of each poke or a couple of each of them?

I understand how you feel about pokemon at times. You need to take a break, but you'll definitely come back to it. Pokemon becomes boring every few weeks to months, because the game is very simple and static.
I would like another funkybizarre tourney. I would even volunteer NOT to participate in order to be a tourney rep kind of thing- I could sort out DCs, track all the entrants, share the load: I know I can't CARRY the ring of having to organize everything, but I can carry YOU! As for the style, I would rather see another lolwut tourney. ONLY if you give us a good amount of time to prepare (as in a month and upwards), you'd have to give guys like Kooper their time.
In the periods of time before Psycho/NU, did you have the inspiration in mind the whole time, or was it sudden and unexpected? If it was sudden, no reason to worry.

To be perfectly honest, I really don't feel that D3 vids are a good idea for you. You've stopped production entirely before, I think it would be better than forcing vids. Not quite sure how Machinima would feel about that.
I subscribed to watch your Pokemon vids and even hopped in your Xat back in when, but I get the whole not interested thing. I didn't even play Pokemon for a year and a half and now I'm jumping back in again so its understandable.
Just wanted to say you're one of the best (no, THE best) Pokemon commentator I have watched and I always enjoy the insight and all the detail you go into.
I wouldn't call it burned out. You're in between motivations. In late 08-09, you did the same thing. You quit that time before you wanted to start up again- that time, the NU team motivated you. After that, you kind of had another lull until the crazy tourny + Psycho team. Then- same thing until MixTier. You're in another one of those states until you have another inspiration.
I would watch poke vids, chess vids, magic vids, D3 vids, play in a 4th gen tournament of any kind, and probably watch anything that gets uploaded to this channel. Do what you feel like, we'll follow.
Well i don't really care about what you upload you're one of my favorite youtubers so i just like seeing battles, and the occasional chess matches, but i think the tournament features might be interesting and i'd like to see maybe a chess tournament? Might be very interesting.
@mtgxerxes Seriously though mate, you don't need to do anything specific to be awesome. Just keep up with what you want and some people will watch it. You are not on commission, so don't worry about keeping up with a specific schedule.
I feel you should just upload what you want. I joined for your poke battles, but I've stayed this long through everything. Personally I have not watched your BoF LP just because RPG LP's are not my thing, so if you were to do a BoF2 LP, sorry to say I wouldn't watch it. Personally my favorite LPs or yours have been your MM ones and things such as TNMT. Short platform games that you have your expertise on are the most enjoyable. Its why I like your poke vids, the insight you have while playing
I suggested before that you could try doing a live narration every now and then. I know it's not something you feel comfortable with (from the chess vids) but it would be interesting for the viewer to get to know what it's like when you actually play and let's face it, the best narrator out there NOT doing at least one is as silly as you not playing stall. You might wanna try PO. alot of other youtubers tried doing it (live) and it's been really enjoyed.

I would love to see you upload Diablo 3. I watch your channel for your commentary. You are one of the best commentators around. Breath of Fire was great, and I would really like to see the second game. Also, it would be amazing to see you play some Magic anything. Maybe it's the games you've been playing recently that's gotten viewership down. I mean I don't think a lot of people now a days know what Breath of Fire is unless they're fans of the games. Mainstream game are what get people to watch LPs, which is a shame because you won't get to experience some great oldies that way.
I personally loved the Breath of Fire run because it introduced me to a series that I never knew existed!

Your BoF LP was the first thing I watched every time I saw a new part in my sub box. I love how knowledgeable you are about the game, and how much depth there is to it, and when you mentioned possibly doing BoF2, I checked it out, AND DEAR GOD HOW COULD I FORGET THIS GAME?! I would literally have your babies if you were to do BoF2, this was the game of my childhood, and yet there were aspects that I never fully got about it that I would love to learn about from you.
I remember a few years ago (that's a little scary to think about) you took a year off or a few months off from pokemon. Maybe you need one of those again? Just to take a breather and get the enthusiasm back again. Everyone needs a break sometimes. Loved your Megaman stuff, and I haven't really gotten the time to finish Breath of Fire, but your vids certainly aren't lacking in quality man.
It's okay man, just take a break, upload another LP. I love watching all your videos, not necessary Pokemon, but i would still like to see some on occasion :) just take a break and don't burn yourself out.
I've always liked the variety of videos you bring. You could most likely do another LP before Diablo III is released, if you'd want to do that. No matter what game you'd play, record and upload, it would still be entertaining and worth the time spent watching it.
@mtgxerxes I suppose maybe BoF2 do take some time. What I meant was that aslong as you enjoy making the videos they'll remain good in quality. You'll always get new viewers who only like this and that. The lesser views on your videos is because people initially subscribed to you for Pokemon matches. If you keep doing LP's you'll get more viewers and subscribers who enjoy those aswell.
I'm more worried about this game even been GOOD from what I've heard about it... but I'd at least like it to come out so if it sucks I can cut my wrists and move on already! lol

I am going with my LP of Chrono Trigger, and also about the camtasia, I have the installation file on my hdd and the moviemaker in Win 7 can speed up, you only have to download the 2.6 version

Swiss is a good idea, thats what my chess national tournaments run as well. If there is a LOT of people you can accelerate the pairings. For example, in chess they want there to be only 1 perfect score after 7 rounds so they accelerate the pairings to make that happen.

@Rematch727 Yeah thats how they work.. though they max out at 8 rounds and REALLY huge tournaments just require everyone to be 7-1 or 7-0-1 to advance =/ lol
For example: I'm going to a tournament on Saturday in a format that I've done maybe 6 times... and every time I've been 4-2, or 4-1-1 and not made the Top-8. Very frustrating!

And i saw a comment about Pokemon Online it would be easier and faster to do these tournaments i mean the battles take 5-10 mins max and you could build any team you want in a couple of minutes i'm sure you know about it.

I just wanted to say that YOU were the reason I started playing pokemon in a competitive light. I always liked your very patient style of play, and your commentary was both entertaining and informative. I even like your megaman LP's, even though I'm not a huge fan of classic LP's. If you do decide to quit playing pokemon, that's your choice. Although I'll be sadden by that, I knew it would eventually come since this neverending game does eventually get boring. I know for a long time I've wanted to see a huge tournament happen with a variety of game types and pokes! It could be structured like a football (or "soccer") world cup and gives everyone a fair chance. 3 OU/BL, 3 UU, 3 NU, game type changes each match - sometimes 3v3 OU singles, sometimes 4v4 doubles, sometimes a whole 6v6 mix tier, picked at random using those 9 guys. I think it would keep it interesting and it'd be great fun if it happened =)

Now i dont know if you dont want to do this, but Pokemon Online would make the tournaments a lot easier. More people would be able to join, and it would be a little easier to organize and get time zones correct and all. Especially for someone who cant play on 4th gen DS. Stupid router security settings. As far as what type of tournament, monotype, mixed tier, there are alot that you could do. Either way, ill watch your vids, cuz your awesome.

If you ran a tourney, I'd advise you to experiment with using Pokemon Online for it. It's much more convenient for a lot of players and could help to potentially streamline the whole thing.

Definitely don't force anything, the best part of watching any of your vids is the enthusiasm you put into them, and it makes a big difference, like after you actually managed to dodge one of those waves of fire in Fire Man's stage back in the MM1 LP.

I think the draft thing sounds pretty cool. Necessitates that people are more flexible with how they build their team. But then would you have only one of each poke or a couple of each of them?

I understand how you feel about pokemon at times. You need to take a break, but you'll definitely come back to it. Pokemon becomes boring every few weeks to months, because the game is very simple and static.

I would like another funkybizarre tourney. I would even volunteer NOT to participate in order to be a tourney rep kind of thing- I could sort out DCs, track all the entrants, share the load: I know I can't CARRY the ring of having to organize everything, but I can carry YOU! As for the style, I would rather see another lolwut tourney. ONLY if you give us a good amount of time to prepare (as in a month and upwards), you'd have to give guys like Kooper their time.

I wouldn't call it burned out. You're in between motivations. In late 08-09, you did the same thing. You quit that time before you wanted to start up again- that time, the NU team motivated you. After that, you kind of had another lull until the crazy tourny + Psycho team. Then- same thing until MixTier. You're in another one of those states until you have another inspiration.

I feel you should just upload what you want. I joined for your poke battles, but I've stayed this long through everything. Personally I have not watched your BoF LP just because RPG LP's are not my thing, so if you were to do a BoF2 LP, sorry to say I wouldn't watch it. Personally my favorite LPs or yours have been your MM ones and things such as TNMT. Short platform games that you have your expertise on are the most enjoyable. Its why I like your poke vids, the insight you have while playing

I suggested before that you could try doing a live narration every now and then. I know it's not something you feel comfortable with (from the chess vids) but it would be interesting for the viewer to get to know what it's like when you actually play and let's face it, the best narrator out there NOT doing at least one is as silly as you not playing stall. You might wanna try PO. alot of other youtubers tried doing it (live) and it's been really enjoyed.

Maybe it's the games you've been playing recently that's gotten viewership down. I mean I don't think a lot of people now a days know what Breath of Fire is unless they're fans of the games. Mainstream game are what get people to watch LPs, which is a shame because you won't get to experience some great oldies that way.
I personally loved the Breath of Fire run because it introduced me to a series that I never knew existed!
I hope you can find something to get you back swinging here on Youtube!

Your BoF LP was the first thing I watched every time I saw a new part in my sub box. I love how knowledgeable you are about the game, and how much depth there is to it, and when you mentioned possibly doing BoF2, I checked it out, AND DEAR GOD HOW COULD I FORGET THIS GAME?! I would literally have your babies if you were to do BoF2, this was the game of my childhood, and yet there were aspects that I never fully got about it that I would love to learn about from you.

I remember a few years ago (that's a little scary to think about) you took a year off or a few months off from pokemon. Maybe you need one of those again? Just to take a breather and get the enthusiasm back again. Everyone needs a break sometimes. I've always liked the variety of videos you bring. You could most likely do another LP before Diablo III is released, if you'd want to do that. No matter what game you'd play, record and upload, it would still be entertaining and worth the time spent watching it.
Go with the flow. Don't rush.

@mtgxerxes I suppose maybe BoF2 do take some time. What I meant was that aslong as you enjoy making the videos they'll remain good in quality. You'll always get new viewers who only like this and that. The lesser views on your videos is because people initially subscribed to you for Pokemon matches. If you keep doing LP's you'll get more viewers and subscribers who enjoy those aswell.

Anything within the US would be pretty low with shipping anyway I would imagine, and shipping usually applies in addition to cost of any online purchase. Once I hear back from him I'll update the Script, send a bulletin, etc.
