I'm 53 and belly dance just for pleasure. I've been dancing for about 3 years. I tried to do the rapid hip rotations to imitate the Tahitian dancers. It was a no go, but I could do the hip swings. It was fun to try, but my body is a bit mature for this dance.

@coyote3558 Let me tell you as a belly-dancer with an over 25 year background in Polynesian Dance, including Tahitian, (my all time fave!), Tahitian is MUCH harder, you use more muscles verses Bellydancing, where you just "Shimmy", etc. With Tahitian, you are actualy rotating your hips in a circle very rapidly / "ami". I love Bellydancing too, as I find it much more self expressive.

That was awesome. I JUST came back from Hawaii... THIS morning. I can't tell you how compelled I was watching the "Tahitian" dancing. I seriously fell in love. I think its because my son's mom is a professional Aztec dancer, and the whole raw vibe of the drums and the dance... just does it for me. Excellent job... I hope you won! =)
