@muddigger225 it will burn your hand slightly due to the fact that your hand unlike a dollar can feel pain from the heat of the fire, if you did take a water balloon and hold it over a fire it would not burn because there is no fuel on the balloon but if you did add a type of accelarent (one that is dissolved in water) than the balloon wouldn't burn itself it would only get hot just like how your hand can be burnt from the heat so do not try it also don't salting your arm and putting ice on it
@brookieeboo100 Haha I acctually sped that up in another sci file I think it was How To Make Whipped Cream and it looks funnier sped up go watch it and tell me what you think :D
@1234andriy No dry isnt dissolved into a solid :) Dry Ice is carbon dyoxcide gas thats changed into a solid using high and low pressure as well the use of super cooling :D
@BulletPrecision these are types of things you do when you trust science. You can do this hundreds of times and you will never burn the bill so sayith the science :D
@FlamingSilencer Magic Banannas :D I agree TV used to be really fun and then somewhere TV went in the wrong directions. Good thing theres the internet :D
@ThePandasRcute you burn up all the alcohol on the first burn so you have to resoak the bill again into the rubbing alcohol if you want to burn it a second or even third time :D I would suggest sticking to paper when doing this.
@spotlightman1234 You know what I really cant think of anything else right now but im sure if you do a search you can find all sorts of gases disolved in solids :)
@tbwf0620 Hydrogen peroxide has oxygen in it which would make hydrogen peroxide burn at a higher temp then rubbing alcohol, stick with the rubbing alcohol :)
but who asked the question.. Im sure liquid dissolving liquid comes into our day to day life.. anyway... I wanted to know whether there was a preferred type of alcohol or will any type of alcohol work?
@saznrai You know im not sure who asked the question cuz it was asked a few months before I filmed it. But I definetly liked the question cuz its a good one. Rubbing alcohol is the best if you wanna to do this, it would work with other alcohol solutions but its best to stick to the rubbing alcohol :D
@jonnyboytheawesome Glad I could help you with your science project needs :D Thanks for the support it not only helps me but more importantly it helps to show youtube that the fellow youtubers like yourself want to continue watching and growing the socoolscienceshow, Thanks very much :D
Neat experiment Chris! I'm having some guests tomorrow and this seems like a great way to entertain them (and educate them) for a while. Will this also work with a paper towel?
@Bostonian7799 I find that science experiments are a really good thing to do at a party or gathering. Unexpected things break the ice and get people talking with each other. I sometimes even do these at resturaunts just to show off a lil haha Give it a try, soak some paper towel in rubbing alcohol and set it on fire.
@TeenNewsLive Thanks very much, Im glad to hear you really enjoy the sci files. The diesel engine sci file is one of my favorites too cuz it just doesnt seem like its ganna happen and then it does :D
@miesrah12 Without the alcohol it would just be water & the bill wouldnt even get a flame. How-ever Let me say this again, burning, destroying or defacing any US curency is illegal how-ever I didnt destroy the $20 bill so suck on that US government. Second the Zeitgiest movement is a crock of steaming piles of (Deet) full of people who think that big brother is after them. What an ego someone must have to think they are so important that the US government who cant even find osama is after you.
@miesrah12 Zietergiest is a cult full of well-crafted propaganda meant to persuade based on untruths, half-truths, mixtured alleged facts, fiction and astrology, all woven into carefully selected facts intended to directly challenge the foundations. They claim easily discredit theories and offers nothing but a collection of anti-government conspiracy theory rhetoric with such blaitant lies & myths like "there is no income tax law" and "the Federal Reserve is owned by foreigners". CROCK OF SH....
@stunts1337 The $20 bill soaks up the alcohol solution very well so that the water in the alcohol solution absorbs most of the heat energy given off by the flame. Your hand isnt good at absorbing water like the $20 bill did. Rubbing Alcohol burns at a high tempreture which is why you see a blue flame. Your hand is not very good at absorbing heat energy either and the alcohol fire will vaporize the water and burn your hand. DO NOT put rubbing alcohol on your hand and set it on fire.
@DESTRUCTERSMURF Thanks very much now go set some paper on fire for your friends but put the rubbing alcohol on the paper while they arnt looking and then tell them hey guys lets burn some paper and watch thier face when the paper doesnt burn up :D
@HalloweenClub My suggestion is you should start with regular paper untill you know how much of the alcohol solution you need to keep the paper from burning up. Then work your way up starting with a $1,$5,$10 & then whne your sure you got it, you can set a $20 on fire. I must warn you ahead of time, burning any currency in the US is illegal how-ever I didnt destroy the $20 in this video so the US government can pucker up and plant a wet kiss on my ass.
