Wow, not being able to play a simple triplet check pattern at this level is beyond unacceptable. Then again, this is the LSU drumline. No technique, no creativity, no consistency. Tiger band would be SO MUCH better if there were some "caring" in the drumline. Some things never change though.
I don't know if there are Pearl Competitor quints and snares. I'm not a drummer.. I'm only a drummer wannabe! I do know you are correct in identifying the drums as Pearl brand because I've see it written on the drums
No. Competitor tenors are not as deep as championship series. They also aren't offered with a 6" or 14" drum, 8/10/12/13 config only. Competitor snares don't have a reinforcement ring for the top head to sit on, the head sits directly on the shell. I don't know of too many college marching bands that couldn't afford top notch drums.
You're right they are pearl championship tenors. But they are 3-yr old, very worn-down championship tenors. they dont hold tone well at all. We would tune them and it would sound good for about 13 minutes.
