@farodealer I agree with you up to a point but there is a key difference between Silverstone and Brands Hatch. As an F1 circuit Silverstone has high debris fencing all the way around the perimter of the circuit. Brands Hatch does not have such fencing around the majority of the GPsection and not where this accident occured. There is therefore going to be an increased, albeit very small risk, of a car going into a spectator / marshall area.

The issue here is less of circuit safety and much more of driving standards.

My view is that the driving standards sometimes employed by folk such as Senna, Schumacher, a number of BTCC drivers, set the tone for up and coming drivers.

The solution, I believe, is harsher sanctions for those participating in moves that are dangerous.

If children are rough in the school playground, you can teach, influence and punish them. Or you could just spend money to make the ground softer and softer.

The last fatal accident in car racing at Brands was Henry Surtees. We don't often get fatal accidents at Brands and those that have happened in recent years were deemed not the fault of the circuit by HM Coroner. In fact most of the fatalities have been in motorcycle racing/ trackdays when riders have been hit by other riders after dropping their bikes. No circuit is truly safe when people start driving or riding on them at speed.

The accident in the video was the FIRST time that sort of accident had ever happened at Brands Plus as with all circuits work is always being done at Brands. There are major works staring next month. When was the last time you went to Brands?

But obviously there is a major interest to keep the circuit among the big ones of the Uk, this because the truth is one: there are few tracks in England, and only Silverstone is the one of the new generation, renewed and truly safe. It's just my opinion, but I respect your position and your ideas.

@GForce429 After such a big crash, the organisers probably didn't want to take any chances - they wouldn't know if the driver was injured, or if any of the marshals were. You can see medical staff attending too - ambulances and medical cars on the track, not to mention the mess made of the polystyrene and car debris. Precaution, I think, and the right call.
