  • ur cute

  • haha so many people are telling you to shut up. this is youtube hello. keep going!

  • I completely agree with you. The fact is, you can not have a "formula" in which to base music off of. Everything these days, musically and in the media otherwise, is typically programmed and nothing is sincere and real anymore. It's all being brainwashed into most people's minds since birth. Why do we still listen to music from the 60-70's? Why is it even more infamous then rock today? Because it was REAL and UNIQUE and we could feel it, it was emotionally charged. Now it's all elevator music.

  • I went to this concert. I drove there in my parents' minivan (I drove, my parents didn't drive). I have a razr phone. I spent my own money. I laugh at you. What the hell...enjoy being "at the height of depression" for your life to truly enjoy life... uh huh...

  • You put many of my thoughts into words. I couldn't agree more.

  • I feel exactly the same about "emo" music. 99% of people have fallen into the trap of the misconception about emo. I hate the little teenagers that think emo is about black eyeliner and suicide, and that emo music has lyrics about how awful your life is and that no one understands them.

    You are awesome =]

  • Music is just what makes people happy, though. And maybe it reflects the person who listens to it. Preteens don't have a ton of character to reflect yet, not as individuals (and no offense to them, but it was only a few years ago and i can think back as well as anyone else), so their choices would just be things that their ears have been trained to like, biases and tastes not having been entirely grown yet. let seperate cases be seperate, this is basically just the progression of childhood.

Hmm... well, there's a fine line between refinement and arrogance, and you're kissing it.

First of all, i have to say that i agree with your ideas on the poprock mentality. It's a little overwhelming to see all of these shiny, angsty, poppy bands out there that are adored by the masses. Personally, i don't listen to that stuff too often. On occasion a little Jack's Mannequin, whatever. everyone can use a little sugarcoating every now and then.

  • haha totally agree with you about the kids today and how they don't work for anything. Also, I'm 100% with you on your thoughts for rock music, and so are half my friends, including a rock and roll professor I had

  • I agree 'rock has to be dangerous' but you have to be retarded to think My Favorite Highway is rock. Like its pop-rock which is a sub-genre of rock which basically is the 'bridge' between like preteen and then teenagers. thats my opinion. THe thing i like about my favorite highway is that although they are 'pop rock' all their songs DO NOT sound the same. I hate bands where every song sounds exactly like the next, MFH doesn't do that. I basically try to say the same thing in my video blurb

  • dude, you got some point there, but holy crap, shut the fuck up man. Most of music is made to entertain and that's alright. Some music is made to "push boundaries". Alright too. Let people decide whether they wanna listen to Janis Joplin or maybe to Blink(fucking)182.

  • shut the hell up

  • totally agree.

  • Don't despise people because the music they listen to isn't as "intellectual" as you'd like it to be. Cuz that' what it is : you blame these youngs for not understanding the true nature of rock music. But honestly, who cares ? The purpose of music is to entertain, to make you dance, socialize, have fun. Of course some finer artists like Dylan go beyond, as you say, make you "feel". --> check out the end

  • If every artist created still life paintings, such as if every music artist came out with the same lyrics about breaking up and the same vocal soundings because it's been so digitized that they all sound that way, then there would be no point to it. If you've seen/heard one, you've seen/heard them all.

  • You can apply that attitude towards other things such as artwork.

Art, overall, is supposed to make you think. It should push boundaries, see how far it can go, or sometimes be subtle but in a way that still DOES push things in that way, in being unexpected. Know what I mean?

  • I don't like you.

  • umm...i get what you're trying to say, but there's nothing wrong with listening to music because it sounds good, cuz you like the beat. i mean, does it always have to mean something to you personally and make you feel "pain" or w/e else you think "rock" music is supposed to make you feel??

  • That song is not rock music...

  • I agree with a lot of your thoughts there. But that said, I think a lot of these bands, while not particularly unique, all are creating music for their generation. And I guess in many ways that is what music is, a mirror for the culture of a generation.

I totally agree with you on Electronic music. I think in many ways a lot of techno artists 'get' rock and roll more than a lot of metal bands do. Electronica is pushing the boundaries, creating something new.

  • im pretty sure i don't wnat to create music because of poeple like you

  • I agree with many things.

but dont judge people on their cellphones.

I had a razr phone that I SAVED up for.

my parents never gave me the money, I SAVED UP for it.

so just, dont judge that kinda stuff, you dont know.

  • Sir, I give my greatest respect for you. And I praise you for your description of the usual pop rock crowd: "White Suburbanite Teenagers"

  • I must say I do strongly agree with some of your points.

  • good points

  • I could not agree with you more.

  • I think your argument about the nature/definition of rock music is awesome. If you ever find the time to take these ideas and put them into some sort of succinct, neat, well-developed and well-structured paper, you should. It would...dare I say it would rock?
