  • I will never forget when I saw this on TV

I would be about three or four. I entered the front room of our house and saw my entire family crying. I had never heard of Diana before I was not brought up in a house of royalists or even people who celebrate the queen, and yet here they all were crying. If I remember right I started crying as well without knowing why.

  • Thank you so much for posting this, it brings back so many memories and sadness from watching it all back in 97'. Brilliant job, thank you so much!

  • @deedee51687 You're welcome!

  • I dont care what anyone says im a Cathloic from Ireland and I will always remember Diana as an angel from god...

    She will never be forgotten....R.I.P.

  • It's a shame it wasn't Tony Blair's funeral

  • If you close your eyes it sounds like Diana

  • Tony Blair should have gone to RADA, instead of Downing Street. Everything about him is a carefully polished and contrived act.

  • Elton looked distracted, like he wanted some G Michael action..

  • Perhaps Mr. John was thinking about Elizabeth I, the subject of his song. Diana is now almost forgotten!

  • LOL...I can't believe you said that! Even worse, I can't believe I laughed, LOL.

  • yes

  • actually it is a metrical paraphrase of psalm 23

  • an interesting view

  • Tony Blair: a man without a shred of genuine emotion, even in the most emotional situation you can imagine. Nothing real. Nothing at all.

  • @iain399 : a prime minister must be a political scientist 24/7 ; one, in such circumstances, must be highly clinical in one's approach - perhaps to the whole of life

  • @3NUNS true

  • ... yes an evil sort of a typical primeministerial ninny ... spun in the spider's web of his own spin ...

  • This reminds us that the lives of all of us, great and ordinary in the eyes of others, is short, shorter than we know, shorter than we can realize, I suppose. . . .

  • I don't remember his speech at all ....and I think that says everything

  • amici. Well stated. I couldn't have said it better myself. Everyone remembered what her brother said though. THAT was some speech!

  • When Lady Fellowes started talking, I thought it was Diana! Diana looks much like her mother than her father.

  • Tony Blair il massone della J.P. Morgan Bank

  • non capisco niente di inglese ma piangolo stesso

  • the only words i trust coming out of that mouth was "I am nothing"

  • the whole world sat in front of the TV and I felt like it was cohesive

  • The only time I have ever believed Tony Blair's words....

  • lol

  • Why bother to watch it if you are going to say lol. LOSER - You wouldn't have understood her anyway but she would have understood you. THINK ABOUT IT

  • @silvermaestro Well he was reading from the Bible, lol.

  • ještě dnes mě běhá mráz po zádech, tolik let to už je a přesto je to tam moc stále živé....

  • its hard for me see this again, i can not explain it but in those days i felt like someone in my family had died and i cried alone because i didnt wanted to be seen showing pain for somebody that only knew in the magazines and tv, i miss her.

  • Tony Blair's role was to represent the Government - (that people do not agree with the Government and blame Tony Blair assumes a dictatorship). He was a mouth peice for the Government and I believe the Government was as sorry as everyone else, despite its faults. Politics does not come in to time like this. Leave it be.

  • Blair's a Twat & a War Criminal! Good performance Elton. Rest In Peace Diana

  • i agree. wot twats. we NEED peace not more war. helping not causeing the fuking problems.;-)

  • Grow up and learn how to spell correctly

  • LOL @ Blair's a Twat.

  • a love you dayana

    myriam moroco

  • Always hated Blair, he is a fucking retard. Elton John is awesome however. Least something good came with this funeral being John's performance.

  • I remember crying a lot while he was singing. That week was strange and very hard for me, once I really admired Princess Diana.

Here in Brazil we were also very sad and tearful when we knew she died.

    Thanks for uploading!

It's not that I'll see everything again, but Elton was friend till the end.

    Cheers!

  • time is too slow for those who wait

  • Blair is no orator :-(

  • My memory of this is that he was amazing at the reading he did. I am about to watch it again for the first time since then so will let you know :-)

  • I was only 5 when she died, but one of my first memorys was elton singing candle in the wind at her funeral. such an amazing song.

  • I'm so thankful, truly, for you putting this on the web. Thought I'd never get to see it again.

  • My pleasure.

  • Even if she wasn't ours, her heart was a light to the people who was broken, living in poverty, and disenchanted by the environmental distress. America shares with all of England- a tremendous loss of life. I was just a girl when she got married and like everyone else, I watched it on tv. Her blue sapphire diamond ring was my favorite ring of all time. If I could turn back the hands of time or even, speak to Diana, I'll give her a hug and say to her, all is well! RIP Princess Di!

  • Well hopefully not just England but the whole of the UK.

  • isnt the Vicar/Priest meant to do the scripture reading and not some stupid PM who needs to get some speech lessons!?!?!

  • Well I disagree with you, I thought the war criminal Blair did the reading very well. Certainly much better than then Commons' speaker did at the wedding in '81. Did you know that Blair considered the Anglican priesthood as a young man? I think it shows, his speech making and propensity to polarise things as good or evil were apparent throughout his political career.

  • blair ain't a war criminal i hate do gooders like you who support peace the world needs war

  • Blair isn't a war criminal. I wish people would get over this 'oh no war' stuff. Sadaam killed thousands of people and was a cruel dictator. The world needed rid of him just like it needed rid of Hitler.

  • one of the most eloquent man I have ever heard

  • she was a true english female a true bit may be the monarchy should take a leaf out of her book rip

  • elton john is a dam faggot

  • well I'm not sure about seeing the Queen every time you turn on the TV or go on the net. I watched Celebrity BB last night and the Queen wasn't on it.

Also, if you're from Scotland or Northern Ireland, you'll only see the Queen occasionally on a tenner. You're more likely to see Sir Walter Scott or some bloke who invented a tractor.

You haven't mentioned postage stamps but they're in decline as people prefer to email these days I think...

  • She was`nt speaking to Elton at the time of her death. At the time I thought his singing was nice, but reflecting back--I think it made the funeral too too Hollywood. She was a royal--the family should have allowed her to keep the title.

  • what had she fallen out with Elton over and how long had they not been talking?

  • He evidently bad mouthed her and she found out. she`d keep pics in the hallway of her house of people in her life who had trashed her--just as a reminder to herself to keep them at arms length.

  • Zo indrukwekkend. Huilen van emotie. Tony Balir leest dezelfde tekst als die tijdens de begrafenis van mijn beide ouders. Tranen van ontroering. Dank je wel voor het delen van deze emotie.

  • Tony Blair and Elton John - what could be more gay?

  • Tony Blair is straight---How but that closet case queer-Tom Cruise

  • I remember being very impressed by Tony Blair's behaviour and strength at this time. Subsequently, this proved to be an illusion and he turned out to be a consummate liar and trickster. Such is the way of politicians.

  • I just heard him on the radio talking about the middle east and his new job. I found myself questioning the appropriateness of appointing a war wonger and religious zealot as a peace broker but then again, he's able to point to Northern Ireland as his outstanding peacemaking acheivement.

  • Wow diana's sister (the one in this clip) sounds exactly like her!

  • Tony cut the bull, you were a corporate whore.

You did fricking lead us somewhere... into Iraq.

Where are the weapons of "Mass Destruction" Tony?

Oh I forgot, you got Sir John Scarlett to patch things up for you.

    Shame on you.

At least the world knows when your children look at you they are looking at a killer of innocent women and children

  • Long live the Queen of People's hearts...this is coming from one American whose life has been touched by a true Princess.

  • Excellent reading of 1 Corinthians by Tony Blair.

  • Why did kanga888's comment get thumbs down?????

  • dont worry, I thumbed it into neutral. It should really be thumbed into houndreds!

  • hmmm but diana was not that important for english history... i think most people think that she´s dvine or something because of the hype the press created.

  • Diana represented kindness and compassion. This means a lot in this day and age... She was a great chapter in British history.

  • My mother represents kindness and compassion, ergo my mother is one of the greatest chapters in British history. How on earth can you compare Diana to the true legends of this great country? Long live the Republic

  • there will never be a republic, long live the queen!

  • It will never be a republic, granted........it will be an islamic state though.

  • Love yuo!

    Gerd

  • Diana was the person most English enjoyed discussing about.

  • This was true, because we were proud of her and all the things she stood for.I love her and will forever

  • Has elton john got a problem with his right eyebrow lol

  • yeah it's called feelings of sorrow.

    R.I.P. Lady Di

  • i was trying to stifle the lulz watching this

  • Damn that song hits me everytime :/

  • i am so sorry, but i don't like videos with Diana's death!I cried at all videos with Diana in death!Sorry, but keep up the good work!

  • lol love the Richard Attenborough comment!

  • Aw, FUCK off Tony, you disgusting proto-Stasi war criminal, cashing in as ever on other people's misery in this Mother of All Mawk Fests.

    He makes me SICK

    BLEUGH

    BLEUGH

  • It's no surprise how every comment on your user page is a reaction to some moronic post you've left on a video somewhere. We don't care about your views.

  • I just realized that's Richard Attenborough next to the piano.

  • My future husband and I were in Hyde Park together with thousands other people to follow the funeral and I was inspired by Tony Blair's words: there and then we decided to choose the same passage from the Bible for our wedding. This event is full of memories for me. Princess Diana rest in peace.

  • what an odd thing to do. Are you still together?

  • RIP Daina you were an inspiration to the whole world

  • I will never forget living in London during this period . The love for this woman was amazing. God Bless her and I hope her sons follow in her steps. My Mother died in similar circumstances but as she was working class no one cared less and we were all put into care. She had similar values and beleifs but that is just England and probably the rest of the world.

  • Diana was a special person she was the last great person of Great Britain.

  • Yes, Diana was a great person, but how can you say she is the last great person of Great Britain? There are many great people, and many are still here with us.

  • In the streets of London, the crowds gasped when Lady Jane spoke. Her voice was identical to Diana's. It was as if Diana was speaking from beyond the grave.

  • the angel who helped the sick,

    looked after the poor,

the person who killed her is should be killed not diana,

    she left,

but she stayed in our hearts.

    R.I.P diana

  • Her sister Lady Jane Fellowes sounds JUST like Diana when she speaks. If I closed my eyes and listened, I would swear it was Diana.

  • They were noted for having the same voice.

  • i was going to comment on the same ting, i did the same thing to, i closed my eyes and it was like it was Diana.

  • lol, Tony, bless you really tried hard :)

  • elton and diana must be very good friends

  • Yes, he even dressed up. ;- )

  • il manque la trduction en français

je ne parle pas anglais et ne le comprend pas

  • :(

    lloro!!!

  • I'm sorry but Mr. Blair is not the best lector I've ever heard.

  • I don't know who you are used to hearing reciting Biblical verse, but Tony Blair did a yeoman's job at Princess Diana's obsequies.

A recitation that will live in history...and will probably be Blair's only mark on history.

  • its great to see sir cliff richard in the audience at 1.33 - 1.50 RIP diana

  • I love Elton....but I think it was this moment that my heart grew. It was so beautiful!

  • She was a wonderful Lady she helped the poor and never carried the arrogance that position brings. She was an Angel.

  • the princess diana never die!! she stay in our heart´s forever!! (i´m sorry, my english is very bad, I from argentina) always in my heart

  • Your english is good.

  • GO AWAY. HAVE YOU NO RESPECT?

  • now i find out mr.tony blair read king james bible just changing 'charity' to 'love'

he is very good reader.i wish he will make

bible CD so i coluld listen.

  • wow!tony blair reading the bible is the best of all time.i hope he should make audio king james bible cd so i can hear everyday!

  • "And your footsteps will always fall here along England's greenest hills..."

She's now an inseparable part of British history. I can see her walking those hills, smiling, casual, free.

  • The hymn is basically a reworking of the 23rd Psalm. I'm surprised no one figured this out.

  • That's not exactly a new revelation. I'm sure Henry Williams Baker knew that. Great hymn all the same.

  • Yes, I do agree that Lord Earl Spencer shared beautiful words from the bottom of his heart. He really made my whole family to cry for hours. We really miss Diana incredible.

  • I would share my proper words of love and tears from the bottom of my heart instead of scriptures if I would be her sister.

  • Their brother did that on her behalf later on in the service. Readings of this kind are customary at Christian funeral services.

  • Shame on all of those whom grieved for she they did not know. Grief should always be spared for those we know and love.

  • ?????

  • beautiful song by elton john

  • she died ten years ago today.

  • Blair is a mass murderer.

  • hay AdArmand, Do you have eyes and ears.

Can't you said who is killing to whom now?

Did your religious really teach u to kill each other.

Are you full of slave blood which make permanently wanna be a slave?

  • Did you have any feeling of being governed by Junta?

To escape from Dracula Junta, Risking our life is worth. Under Junta, Corruption, unbalance and unliberty is anywhere. whatif u are under arrest more than decade of ur life like Aung San Suu Kyi from Burma. .

  • So is your infadel brothers.

  • you was an angel lady diana and i am sure u r still an angel an u watch us ...god bless u rest in peace me lady

  • Conservative for Blair/Brown

  • Blair DID save the monarchy at a low time for them. As with much good he has done, we forget this. He read from the bible, "... faith, hope, love ... but the greatest of these is love". And "... we see through a glass darkly". And now he's gone we STILL see through that darkened glass. Thank you Mr Blair for your good work, and for trying to help us see more clearly.

    Google - keeptonyblairforpm

  • blah blah blah blah I don't care about blah blah, tony blair has been in these times the man who saved monarchy!! great prime minister!! this fucking people that forgot that tony blair has give back hope to british people after thatcher destroyed uk. don't never forget that, never!!!

  • What a stupid uneducated fool you are. Things Thatcher did include destroying militant ambulance drivers and creating the Paramedic. Crushing the overpaid socialist miners and raising the UK from being at the bottom of the EU Pile to the top.

  • Oh c'mon people, this isn't a place for uncivil political sniping!

  • I agree. If you're here to talk politics, piss off!

  • god!! this song is one of the most carol in the world! a such tribute to the biggest princess of the history!!

  • blah blah blah blah I don't care about blah blah, tony blair has been in these times the man who saved monarchy!! great prime minister!!

  • what a beautiful song.!!!

  • in theses times, tony blair has showed that he was a great prime minister .he was closely to princess diana.

  • Beautiful song and all of singers are so emotional...that was difficult to song. And the Elton John´s music will be forever Diana´s song.

  • Okay dana now try that in English.

  • such a beautiful song!!

  • And now on this sad occasion here's Elton John to perform his latest hit single. Woo!

  • lol
