@HeavyMetalVagabond that was an alternate picked run. it is good, but if you saw steve morse or john petrucci alterante picking arpeggios at the speed of sweeping you look at it with other eyes. look at dream theaters glass prison intro arpeggios. these are alternate picked all the way trough, and compared to that the 44 minutes solo seems quite easy to pick. well, easy for the right hand, not for the left tough...

You need to think what Chris wants from playing the guitar. While he may be capable of shredding with the best of them, making an insane instrumental album and joining G3 (well that last one is arguable), but Chris Broderick makes a living from his work in the bands he's been in and teaching, I think if he really wanted a solo career he'd have put his oar into that a bit more by now. I think he suits 'deth perfectly! He plays really well with them.

This isn't actually hard if you know theory behind it and what the bass line is doing, so right hand is pretty easy, the only harder thing is chord inversions and voicings played under the bass line.
