@1997nypd That is why you should brush your dogs teeth like every day or other day. And forget the treats. if you buy really good quality dog food your dog willl think her whole meal is a treat. @rescuefido if you can i suggest you put him on a dental diet like dog foods that are pro dental health and if you have rawhide bones let him chew those whenever he wants and try brushing his teeth twice a day with pet tooth paste or you can use a soft bristle kids tooth brush with some salt water just try these to lessen his troubles until you can see a vet and try changing him to a better food like wellness or innova after his vet visit because most store brand food can damage a dogs teeth

@TheMangetsuhozuki HI I appreciate so much all of your tips but this dog i just had rescued out of a high kill shelter. He just had his dental done at the vet the past week, he had 11 teeth pulled and the ones left look great. He was and still is in some pain. But he is in Rescue now so I am going to copy and print your suggestion for his future mommy. I will be his mommy for a while yet. I keep all my doggies teeth cleaned and dental cleaned too. I use excellent food i am very fussy on that.

@TheMangetsuhozuki I have tried Inovat currently have my dog and the Maltese Rescue now on Taste of the Wild. Zero by products very good food and the dogs love it. And it doesn't cause icky stools. We have firm predictable stools now.The raw food diet would never work for me i have ZERO time for that much extra work. I am so glad though that you have all this knowledge and am passing it around. There are so many stupid people they buy that crap from the grocery store & wonder why high vet bills!

@rescuefido my cat love her fancy feast and purina one but im trying to get her on innova EVO or orijen she didnt really like halo and advoderm i also give her some raw meats as a treat after i saw that they put cats in purina i started trying to switch her

@TheMangetsuhozuki I heard on a cat show once that Cats should not be fed hard kibble that their digestive systems can not handle it. But i know nothing about cats. thank you for watching and God bless you

@rescuefido I heard that too but my mom wont let me raw feed her she gets both kibble and wet food and as a treat I give her a bit of raw meat and for her teeth I brush her teeth every other day and on the days I don't brush she gets a dental treat and a nylabone cat chew (she don't like it much) they say kibble is bad for cats because most companies like the grocery store brands like Purina use corn wheat soy and byproducts evo and orijen. Are considered high quality and are closest to raw diet

@TheMangetsuhozuki Cats are not meant to eat KIBBLE... Their digestive systems really don't handle it that well. A wet food diet is best. I am a dog person but i heard from a super knowledgeable cat person say do not give you cat dry KIbble! Hope this helps.
