RI PBS just ran a show tonight about the vaccine it was a show called second opinion. They had someone from MA public health and the lady who always wears her military uniform from our health dept. Not sure of her name. Some great questions were asked but they stuck with the talking pts about it being safe because the same co. that makes the regular vacc. are making it and so it must be safe... I don't trust this vaccine especially. It seems rushed. I have a couple of friends who have had the flu already, not swine flu. Me, personally, never had the flu in my adult life. I eat organic and drink lots of OJ this time of year.

As to the swine flu vaccine, it has many identical features to your typical influenza virus. While any slight differences do indeed factor in as a potential confound, time is of the essence when a pandemic threat is real, and they for the most part did nothing new when creating this vaccine. I am not entirely happy with how they handled it my self (especially how they allowed the Chinese one shot to be passed so quickly when some elements the technique were new).

Confounds are minimised by have such a large population size to prove a vaccines effectiveness. As to testing, vaccines have undergone, like I said before extensive testing to rule out most potential confounds and to make an extremely compelling case for their effectiveness and general safety. The only case in which its Very hard is when evidence does not statistically support your claims.

Vaccines are extensively test, not to the degree of the contraceptive but still safe enough that it they can be applied to over 50% of the population to confer herd immunity with little incident. I asked my prof about these vaccines and if they are dangerous (he having done vaccine research for the US navy). He said its pretty safe, but he could only recommend it to the risk group, people who are relatively healthy and know that it is not present in their community need not worry as long as they have no history of respiratory disease. It is well documented that the number of vaccinated individuals correlates to the chances of a non-vaccinated individual of getting the disease.

My baby nephew (12-13 months) was just vaccinated for the first time, guessing he was vac'd for swine flu (need to ask my sister, but the timing is scary). He hasn't been the same since, and he's had stomach problems and his gens swelled up and turned red.
I don't trust this vaccine especially. It seems rushed. I have a couple of friends who have had the flu already, not swine flu. Me, personally, never had the flu in my adult life. I eat organic and drink lots of OJ this time of year.

In those cases it's the immune system's response to the illness that kills you, not the illness itself. That's probably mostly the case when the population that suffers the most deaths is the young adults group.

Any medication let alone a damn VIRUS! should be done one on one, patient with doctor. Swine or on swine, conspiracy or no conspiracy, regardless, this mentality of random people standing in lines to be injected with a VIRUS is the most stupidest concept I can image. Patient should be screened, blood samples taken, family illnesses considered and DNA analyzed before anyone deliberated infects them with a virus. Down the street vax shots should be illegal plain and simple.

She does have a valid point with the testing and FDA standards. No other drug could be rushed to the market,which explains why the makers/manufacturers are exempt from lawsuits! That fact alone should scare the hell out of ppl.

I've watched this video closely and I have changed my mind...all the words match up with the video movements...no speaking that doesn't match up with the audio that I can see...just a streaming prob?

I agree with her. I don't get flu shots because the last time I have ever had the flu was when I got a flu shot. I have not had the flu for about ten years about as long as ago as I had a flu shot.
