Dear Margaret,How are you? I want you to know that my thoughts and prayers are with you. TO hear you speak was very moving for me. God bless you, Margaret. Wiish I could give you a hug.Love and peace,Allison
@mrissamusica : thank you for following my progress, mrissamusica! Check out my latest vid here on YT....and I hope you smile and get on with your life, too!!! We all need to keep on kickin'! :-) LoLv.
I had my second aphasia attack today and went to the doctor first time. Mine seems to be brought on my migraine and I am completely unable to speak or understand much while it's going on. Scary stuff.
@Zerg82 : It is scary stuff, because one is aware of what is happening but we just can not fix it. Perhaps you need to see a Pain doctor for your migraines....perhaps if they could be prevented or better controlled, you would not have to deal with an expressive aphasia as often. God Bless You in All that You Do! LoLv, Dr. Margaret
@jellytoes1 : thank you jellytoes1; I love your channel name. Although it makes me think of eating a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, or jelly beans. heehee I am hungry....Alas, I will wait more time for my swallowing to improve :-) before eating solid foods.
Hi Margaret. I was trying to catch up on some of my subscriptions and have only just seen this video. I am so sorry to see you so ill, I hope things have improved since making this video. You are in my prayers.
Yes, thank you I am much better. Think I need 1-2 liters of 5% dextrose, 0.9% normal saline (i.e., sugar/salt water) iv every few weeks. 6 days in the hospital later, I was and still am much better. But like you and I and so many others, we just take one day, one breath at a time...and be grateful for that which we have. LOLove, Margaret
@kaazoom : I think of you daily, pray for you, and hope that your ministry with ME continues in the fine shoes that helped us start it all. Love and Hugs to your side of the Pond, Margaret
@TheDarksEmpyrean : so nice to look back on these hard times and to know that you went through it with me....thank you so much, and little one sends her love!
Hi Doctor M. Oh my gosh Im just in tears watching this video of you .. I will keep you near my heart in prayers.. Ohhh you have the most fabulous little girl.... she is gorgeous.. I hope your doing better..thank you for the prayers for my boyfriend ..he is terrific..and the holy water.. I appreciate it deeply.. all my love and prayers..
Thanks; I do have a lot to live for, especially so you and the rest of the world can watch her grow up, too. She has always been a source of sunshine.
Seems my setbacks take a toll on Miss Missy, but with each hospitalization, I have to re-introduce her to my life.
Thanks for all. You are so motivating, and your prayers for all with dysautonomia and other illnesses will add to the other prayers....and they'll all be in bubbles going to God's ear. Highest Personal Regards, Dr M
This looks pretty severe. I feel so bad for you.. I hope you don't get it a lot. It must have been a frightening experience. Thank God you still have your sweet little girl beside you: the next generation... :-) I hope we find a cure pretty soon! you deserve it so much
Luckily, this was the first time that I had an expressive aphasia, but usually when I get an infection, my mind and my thinking change first. We call this 'altered mental status' and those closest to you will know there is something wrong with you, but they won't be able to pinpoint it.
Altered mental status is my usual presentation, no matter the reason for hospitalization....28 so far in 4 years, in April 2010. Please keep your families / friends able to talk to you and notice these changes.
I think you look knackered because of POTS and your brain is hypoxic because of POTS and that's why you can't come up with the right word. You look very ill- most doctors tend to ignore such an obvious sign!! Take care- Simon
Yes, I was dehydrated and POTS rebound because of low blood volume associated with POTS was a big player here. Had a Urinary Tract Infection (UTI), so I was drinking fluids but peeing tons and I could not keep up with hydration just by mouth. I ended up on an iv and in the hospital for 6 days.
Hydration, antibiotics, and hydration, hydration from this "brain sucked of water" I believe led to stretching of the meninges holding the brain to the skull bone, leaving me unable to speak well.
~ CONTINUED: Also, the scientist in my says that the arterial supply to Broca's area of the brain must have been underperfused for this manifestation.
I believe, as a scientist, that if I had 2 Liters oxygen by nasal cannula, the PaO2 of my arterial blood would be over 100, 'hyperoxygenating' the midbrain, where single red blood cells are floating down in a single line of the smallest capillaries.
The MD of the day today had wireless but we couldn't capture his password connection. He sends his personal apologies, especially to you, as we discussed your soup.
International Congress for Dysautonomia July 2010.
Your place :-). We need to meet. Room for 4 more.....let's see who notices this first! May God be with us in all that we do.
This is a classic presentation of someone who is having a stroke. It is called expressive aphasia, the ability to think of a word, but one is unable to say it.
If you see someone with this, minutes count. Call 911 and/or go to ER, whichever is faster.
THANK God this was not a stroke or a TIA, transient ischemic event...please learn from this video and someday, one of you will save some one's life.
I'm thinking I'm going to see how many MDs I can get to go on YT with me...what a challenge...but we have to start somewhere and ideas just keep rolling on in! Thank you. I count YT as my family and love each person individually.
YT is a need now, a habit of desperation turned into the joys of seeing human lives saved.
We have a Mighty God.....love love love to you, too.
You are going to get through this because prayer in numbers is a very strong force! God knows what you are going through and will bring you out of your valley and you will be better than ever. We love you, Margaret and you have my total support. I know I can't be there to comfort you, but we know that the Holy Spirit is there to right there holding your hand throughout this temporary set back.
Thank you, my YT family. I puked a lot the ;ast two days, but am getting rest.and more rest. I want to go home and start baking Christmas cookies..hope to be home on Fri, so I can make it a slow weekend. ;O LOL,
Maggie
...and I love each and every one you individually!
Dear Dr.Maggie: Please take good care, my heart fell to the floor when I saw this video, I feel so, so sorry. Wish you and family all the best. I'll be checking in with you right here all the time everyday.
Sorry you are having more symptoms! I will be praying for you! I will pray it is not a stroke.I have had similar episodes and docs have done numerous CT's and MRI's of my brain and nothing would show up.I would even not be able to move a whole side of my body with slurred/absent speech. Someone suggested I might be experiencing 'silent migraines' Sorry if this is too much info.(I just had never heard of them untill other people with Dys. brought it up) but I am sorry I can't do more!HUGS!!!!
You remind me that I need to see the hospital paperwork on my official diagnoses.....I have basilar-type migraines after sustaining a left vertebral artery dissection; I see my neurologist in 2 days...so we shall see. If I forget, please remind me to let you know how it goes. LOL, Margaret
Margaret...I'm so sorry for all the pain and suffering this condition causes and I won't pretend I know anything about it or how you all must feel...but I DO care very much and my prayers are with you all. Your little girl is beautiful and God will continue to lead you. Much love..Jan (and Susan) ♥
