Hey All, I just recorded with this GS Mini and I still love it a year later! Check out the video I shot a year ago, traveling to Coasta Rico with my mini on the plane singing ( which happens to be my clip in this video above) in a cave under a waterfall, open air market, etc
Saint Tone / Taylor GS Mini Guitar.mp4 is the name
Born and raised in El Cajon. Love this city, even though I went to school in North Park, and now State. Downtown La Mesa and Granite Hills are mare favorate neighborhoods.
Since the scale is slightly shorter it is a tiny bit more cramped but only takes a couple minutes to adjust to. It honestly plays like an electric, the actions is super low and sounds fantastic! I was blown away when I played it and nothing in the price range, even full size sounded as good and played as nice. The setup from the factory could not have been more perfect!
Hello. What's the neck radius of this guitar please? I'm 'transitioning' from electric. I have several G&L guitars (including ASAT Special Deluxe and Legacy HB) which have both 12 inch and 7.5 inch radius necks and I was wondering how the neck of the GS Mini stacks up against those? Thanks.
I've played through about 7 or 8 GS Minis locally trying to find one that I can relate to tonally. All were new in box, 4 sounded dead to me, or had dead strings...usually the E or the b/e strings. The others had serious string buzzing problems. These kinds of issues suck to me and the last thing I want to do is take an acoustic in for a setup. Also, the string height does not seem to be the cause of the buzzing.
Very few comment on the gigbag. One small feature REALLY shows Taylor's attention to detail: Where the endpin presses against the case (something that would be VERY noticeable when worn on your back) there is a small patch of very strong canvas to prevent it rubbing through. Now THAT'S care and thoughtfulness!
The guitar is superb and can be really loud if you wish. I've fitted Elixr lights and dropped the action a smidgin more. Plays like a Strat and scores 9.5 / 10.
@johndunford41 C#-7 bar chord (starting on 5th string) to G#-7 bar chord (starting on 6th string). on the C#-7, you can play three frets above the first string to get that extra top note. the last chord is F#7 which is similar to to the G#.
Is it literally a 3/4 size guitar, or is it between a 3/4 size and a full size? I know it says Mini, but on the Taylor site, the Baby Taylor is advertised as a 3/4 and 3/4 is not mentioned anywhere that I can see in relation to this guitar. What's up with it? 3/4 or not?
This little baby looks awesome and sounds great, i can't wait to get my hands on one here in Perth western Australia. Really nice touch guys with the ebony fingerboard and bridge, keep the quality and protect the brand.
I just played one of these at Guitar Center, very impressive. Nice balanced tone, plenty of volume and projection, and small enough not to bother my wonky old shoulders.
I've heard the Taylor GS Mini is better than both the Baby and the Big Baby. Just ordered mine, and I can't wait for it to arrive! I have small hands, so hopefully it helps me advance my skills comfortably!
Now this is what I want. Im a small guy and play electric and have been wanting a nice acoustic to play on the couch/impress the ladies. I was pretty set on the Big Baby but everybody is saying GS Mini. The little pickup you can get is rad too!
I ordered one from my local Taylor dealer about a month ago and I'm still patiently waiting for it's arrival! Limited quantities available, but It sounds great (so I've heard, and seen) and I'm looking forward to playing it soon!
Got to play one yesterday...just amazing! There is not travel size guitar that can touch the sound this thing produces, Messed around with several alternate tunings, intonation spot on..of course. A homerun :)
I love this Guitar!!! I took it to Costa Rica for a week and played it everywhere including on a plane, in a cave under a waterfall, etc. I walked onto 7 + flights with no problem fitting it into the over head. The smallest plane was a 55 seater. Check out my YouTube clip
Saint Tone / Taylor GS Mini Guitar . The link is on the right
I was wondering this as well. Checking the specs, it appears to be bigger than the baby taylor, but slightly smaller than the big baby. So I suppose it would be 7/8's since the BBT is 15/16.
I can't afford one of my favorite acoustic guitars I played which is the GS8 at the moment. .
The price for the Taylor mini is tangible rather than looking to other companies like Alvarez etc for mid priced acoustics. You get a projective sound and precision made acoustic with cool features. This guitar is on my wish list and hope they continue the line.
I checked its cost and it is overpriced for that kind of sound!

taylor in guitarmaking is what apple is in computermaking: simply amazing!

@freekoch
is it also oppressive towards 3rd world countries, overpriced and extremely hostile against every other brand?
