  • @smildonfatalis Yes women can, but you should get it written in your contract... Although Airborne missions may not happen for an MP (but you can still be an Airborne MP).

  • Not sure if I'm correct but I think I saw at least 2 marines there didnt know they could go through airborne school I've seen some going through ranger school before though.

  • @latinluigi yeah the Army teaches all branches how to jump

  • Are women allowed to become Airborne MP's?

  • In the ground phase, are you running 6 miles, per run?

  • whats up with the dudes wearing bdu instead of acu?

  • how does the airborne training compare to the ranger training?

  • Does an airborne engineering job exist?

  • Great clip!!! Thank you very much for posting.

  • I passed this school???

  • 1 mile, no sweat

    2 mile better yet

    3 mile All the Way!

    4 Mile Every day!

  • Went through in 1989 has not changed a day!!

  • @ 0:43 THAT GUY LOOKS LIKE A GIRL 0_0

  • doing this once i hit recruiting age or graduate!!!

  • can 13f (fire support specialist) do airborne??

  • yes they can.

  • @ArmyAllTheWay2010 Yes, but it all depends if you get it into your contract. Also unless you go to an airborne unit you may never jump again, once airborne school is over. 82nd airborne still has an element of airborne artillery.

  • i like the ww2 airborne training more especially the 101st lol runnin currahee but who cares airborne is still airborne!!

  • im doin this soon, it looks annoying hahaha but whatever i dont wanna jump and land wrong and break my legs

  • more fun to watch this particular portion of airborne school than to do it I assure you that. :(

we had to learn how to fall down right for days

  • why do they check their feet like that? not being rude, im just interested and curious.

  • feet and knees have to be together to insure a safe PLF, or landing.

  • but at 3:13 they swing their arms as they check. whys that?

  • as you lean over to check your feet you have to swing your arms back then slap your sides as you come back up and sound off with a loud thunderous airborne.... I know I know just something the black hats make us do. :)

  • kool man, interesting stuff to watch.

  • I was a Cav Scout, never did Airborne School, but can appreciate the raw reality of this video, not sure how you got it, outside dip-shit Hollywood interpretations don't think I've seen anything like it, brings back a lot of memories forgotten over the last 30 some years. Thanks for uploading it.

  • Hey can the Cav Scout MOS transfer over to some recon or scout position in the Ranger Batt?

  • Lol, like the MOS videos. "In this MOS you will directly support infantry units and work long hours in the field. You will camp out in swamps with your m16 and get to fire upon many enemies."

  • Anyone that actually went to Airbourne school can relate with ground week and the fact that your diggin that ground out of your crack and clothes for months after you finish.

  • why is it funny marines have to train at our airborne school? should the marines have their own special way of jumping out of a plane and landing?(sarcasm)...

  • JOIN THE SWCC guys sure its one of the hardest to train but come on its a secret seal regiment with the latest guns

  • @DruGeDuPmeTaLHeadXD What's teh SWCC and how do I join?

  • good shit! this is what i wonna do when i join.

  • lol...memories!!

  • the airfoce uses this s chool to for there spec ops guys

  • no!!!!!!!lol we are mainly trained in navada

  • i looove how the marines have to come to the army for htis kind of training

  • I hear that brother, I have to complete this school for my mos. 0451 Air delivery Specialist, oohrah.

  • do they tell u where your going as in 101st or 82nd

  • 101st or 82nd ?????????

  • 101st is air assault, not airborne any more.

  • no...it's still the 101. airbourne but their main task is air assault...i think it's just an corny add and they should stay with airborne...it's not just an cooler name but also a historycal one...

  • No its actually air assault, I live just outside Fort Campbell KY, on their gate it say's "Welcome to the 101st Air Assault".

  • my bad, its says airborne, with air assault in().

  • yeah...i'w read it on their official site...i hope they'l never change it...it's just too iconic

  • guys, air assault is different than airborne, air assault is like fast roping and stuff, airborne is parachuting

  • he w as saying there not paratroopers i think

  • they are paratroopers

  • there not deployed via parachute, they are still airborne-hence the name there mission just changed thats all.

  • This class was a very small class. We barely had enough people to actually have a class. I think we only had 300 people. Our class was an exception, not the norm. We had no where near 35 people in a stick and each plt didn't have the maximum number of sticks either.

  • 6:57, I know that guy, his names Chico.

He was recruited out of my office.

  • Who cares!!

  • do i see a women in this cadre, british army airborne is an all male preserve, the way it should be.

  • I appreciate anyone who is considering enlisting even if they're not devoted 100% to jump school. But when I was deployed downrange I interacted w/ a lot of coalition forces. None of which were Norwegian. Not to say y'all weren't an occupying force, but you are speaking against the worlds greatest fighting force. US Army HUA.

    Spec 4 mafia. "Airborne"

  • i come to wonder if this person is just claiming things, because if you were actually in the Army, there is no way in hell, you would say HUA, wtf is that, even a marine knows its HOOAH!

  • Well since you're so knowledgable on the subject of war cries (hoo-rah)for the marines you would know it's not Hooah, it's HUA. Which is an acronym for Hear Understand Acknowledge. You're talking to a vet of OIF. That's Operation Iraqi Freedom, jackass. You're either a new boot or just know someone in the army and think you know everything.

  • it isn't hoorah for the usmc, it's oorah

  • roger that. even a squid knows its hooah!!!

  • Also is training really tough or kind of easy?

  • Don't bring your heels to this school honey.

  • if you join the airborne do you have to go through BMT?

  • A BMT is a sandwich.

BCT is basic combat training, and YES you will be obligated to complete BCT, then AIT, then BAT (jump school)

    HOOAH

  • I am going to OSUT this fall.... can anyone tell me why should I go to airborne school? I mean...besides the fact that I think it would be fun to jump out of planes... but what's the incentive?

I do know its required for special forces...but if I dont think im gonna do that..

  • - You get $150 / month extra pay if you're assigned to an airborne unit.

    - It's fun

    - It's scary as hell

If you're going infantry, it's highly recommended.

  • $150 more? Sign me up.

  • plus your more up to get in a war :}

  • You should do it because the barracks at airborne school are so nice

  • haha- well i think id rather sleep in my room..though this does look like a good option for me.

  • Not to be judgemental, but it doesn't sound like you're really up to it. You kind of have a "whatever attitude". However, I don't know how demanding the training is, as I'm Norwegian. What I do know, is that the Norwegian Airborne Unit requires 100 % devotion. Out of 300, only around 20 individuals make it.

  • I'm glad you could read me like a book off of a a couple You Tube comments on the internet.

  • "besides the fact that I think it would be fun to jump out of planes... "

"$150 more? Sign me up. "

You sound real devoted there, champ.

  • Have you ever herd of humor? Or the fact that jumping out of planes IS fun and I have two friends in the airborne who describe it just as such ( though that does not mean i am making light of the subject)? Or maybe my need for money is very great so $150 more would be a huge deal for me? I am very well informed on the subject sir.

  • I'm not saying that jumping out of planes isn't fun, but that's still not a good enough reason to decide you're gonna start the training. I'm making my opinion out of how hard Airborne School is over here though, I'm not saying you won't make it. Over here, we have to follow the army's training program a year in advance to have a chance of making it. I'm sorry if I offended you.

  • You should do it because the barracks at airborne school are so nice

  • lol...good barracks? Ok!

  • @pacificguitarist better pay... in my opinion ide rather be in a airborne squad then anything else during combat...and its easy...but you need a minimum of 2 years in infantry before you can do it

  • @armyengineer123 No you don't. I'm a Officer, afther AIT I went straight into Airborne school.

  • @pacificguitarist good luck 2 u

  • how many times do they do this??

  • no the 101st is another airborne division

  • 82nd Airborne Division is the only true airborne division. 101st is airborne only in name. In reality it's an air assault (helicopters) division. They don't jump out of planes like the 82nd.

  • Really? I know that in ww2 they parachuted in to normandy and in operation market garden...

    have things changed?

  • They were back in world war 2. Sometime around the Vietnam era they transitioned into an air assault division. "During the Vietnam War, the 101st was redesignated an airmobile division, and later as an air assault division. For historical reasons, it keeps the identifier "airborne", but does not conduct parachute operations at a division level." -from Wikipedia's 101st Airborne Division entry.

  • Oh ok cool! Kinda sad though.... after watching band of brothers I always had nostalgia for it : (

  • is the 82nd airborne the only airborne division?

  • no it's not the only one.

  • im hoping to become a Paratrooper what would my mos be? How likely would i be in the 101st? or 82nd?

  • Any MOS can become a "paratrooper". There is no paratrooper MOS. You just have to be assigned to an airborne unit and be airborne qualified (graduate airborne school). So technically, you can be a cook in the 82nd Airborne Division and be considered a paratrooper. The 101st Airborne Division isn't a true airborne division anymore. It's an air assault division and they don't conduct any airborne jumps so you wouldn't be considered a paratrooper if you went to the 101st.
