@DrHerbz When I was typing the title, I wasn't sure exactly what to call this kind of photography (any ideas?). The footage itself is just a collection of real-time scenes, shot over the course of the 2-hour event, with short fades in between, so it's not really a true timelapse like I normally make. Perhaps "realtime excerpts" might be a better description...
absolutely unbelievable! wow. i got to see one pupate, but i keep missing the molt between instars! i'm watching 5 queens presently, the youngest one having hatched just today. thanks for this video!
I can't tell you how many times I missed the "good" stuff while trying to film these life cycle vids! I finally found that I had to sit the critter right on my desk where I could see it all the time during the day in order to catch the molt on film. Getting the other event like pupation and emerging are also pretty lucky catches! Thanks for visiting and be sure and post your critter vids if you make any! :-)
This camera (Canon HF100) can focus on objects which are about 1 inch from the lens. Setting the focus to manual really helps ensure that the image is as much in the focal field as possible. :-)
I have though about seeing things from the viewpoint of other animals - it would be really weird to be a multi-legged bag of juice crawling around on and eating leaves all day, worring if I were going to make to the adult phase before some horrible monster ate me, or worse! :-O
I have at least 7 active channels and over 1000 videos. My best stuff (IMHO) is on the primary channel but there are lots of other "B" quality and specialty vids on the other ones. Thanks for stopping by this one! :-)
Thanks so much for checking it out! You've difinitely come to the right place for butterflies and moths, and their life cycles. Be sure and check out the full life cycle vids on my primary channel, too :-)
Thanks so much for watching and the great comment! It's very satisfying to me when my work and little discoveries are appreciated by so many. :-) Have a great week!
It's time-lapse

If it's 2 hours condensed into 2 minutes, then how can it be 'realtime'?
