@theconnorkid Depends on what you want to hunt, which is more available in your area, and which will acclimate better. You'd be best off doing a lot of research on where they normally live, what they eat, and what their basic personality is like to get a better idea than just asking on a YouTube page.
Really, other falcons eat kestrels?!! Have you lost birds to cats before, you make it sound like it has happened before... It must be really sad to see it happen.
Wonderful looking bird of prey by the way. Your hobby/ passion looks really enjoyable and zen like.
Flying her from a "waiting on" position is really cool. Did you take her as an eyess or trap her. She seems to know what she's doing in a hover. Totally Cool! I'm a falconer too! I enjoyed seeing your video. Keep it up!
its interesting, i see kestrels and cooper's hawks a lot where i live, i like sitting at my patio and watching them sit on irrigation sprinklers and look over fields.
I must say this is really really cool! I would love to take my birds outside...but sadly they would probably die in about 2 seconds (parrotlet/cockatiel). How do you get into Falconry...do you need a special license??
any ideas where i can aprentice in northern illinois? Im desprate.

Great! What kind of predators are you protecting her from?
00mrmonster 1 year ago
@00mrmonster
Red-tail Hawks mostly, also other Falcons, or even stray cats. You would be surprised how fast a cat can appear and run off with your small falcon.
