  • this game is better thann earthbound for nes.

  • @delli620 No.

  • @asnaes in my honest opinion it is. earthbound for nes wasn't that exciting

  • Have you seen the movie? They have it on youtube. It is quite good.

  • This game looks absolutely FANTASTIC! You mentioned it was long, how many hours would you guess it to be?

  • OMF FIGHTING FOODONS WHERE DID YOU GET THAT?

  • Wouldn't you consider Friday the 13th for the NES one of if not the first survival horror?

  • @Metasas I consider the 2 LJN horror games on the NES the first AMERICAN survival horror games.I'm not CornshaqGaming even though you were expecting him.

  • Retsupurae sent me here.

  • @Jabbajak In a very indirect, "Don't watch Youtube videos of this" kind of way, the HVGN sent me to this particular playthrough.

  • LOL !! this HAS to be a joke !! hahahahahaha

  • Wow I actually bought this game in 1989 while I was in Japan. I forgot all about it till I watched this video lol.

  • this would be a great remake,

also this game kinda reminds me of "Koudelka" for the ps1

it's a RPG survive the horror.

  • i hope a good remake of this game is made

  • @13sMemory They already did (technically) it's called Resident Evil xD

  • @bakazeldafreak I feel Shingi Makimi should do a remake of this game with the same story...i mean id be sick i'd be like old re all over again :)

  • @Unblacken Shingi Makimi? Was he the person who created Resident Evil games?

  • @XJVHS haha yes exactly

  • @Unblacken And yes, I agree with that there should be a remake that really follows the plot of this game.

  • Hey How did u get a translated version I really want one

  • @FlunkyTheJunkie Look up the rom "Sweet Home (J) [T+Eng1.00 Gaijin+Suicidal]".

  • In 1989 that was to scary? That doesn't make sense.

  • lol, it's not the "Waxi", it's "Wax" with a picture of a candle next to it, so a wax candle, lol

  • Holy **** that this game is creepy! Music, story, everything!

  • it seems to be a very good game of Capcom ! And a very good introduction for the Resident Evil's serie

  • Damn.....you are very good at this Let's Playing business.

You're very informative and you don't stammer or hesistate. You are definitely one of my new favourite Let's Players.

  • you have a great collection pal ¡¡

  • btw, fire emblem also had the idea of permadeath.

  • Trololo

  • I don't like when people call it the "Waxi" that's not an "i", it's an icon for a candle.

  • Wow this is truely amazing for 1989 wish this would have been in my archive of games.

  • Got Milk is that you ?

  • dude thanks man watching your vids helped me out

  • A stupid observation; the "waxi" isn't actually "waxi" it's "wax" followed by a symbol for a candle...it took me watching the vid 5 times to finally notice that...wow I feel stupid now.

  • I'm not much for RPGs but this one is an exception it has good horror that inspired Resident Evil.

I'm an fan of Resident Evil and this stands as one of my favorite Play It Throughs.

  • Wasn't Project Firestart for the Commodore 64 was the original horror survival video game? It even has 8-bit cinematic sequences in it. Way ahead of its time.

  • ha good shit man

  • i heard there was a movie for this anyone know where to watch it?

  • @peeweesquidxx yep, it should be on here. i can see part 5/5 of the movie on the side of my screen. the game is based on the movie.

  • The ancestor of resident evi...

  • looks very advanced for its time

  • Sweet home should release for the VC or XBL or PSN?

  • @Se7enBeatleofDoom I Totally Agree!!

  • @CornshaqGaming Yeah me too. After hearing about this game i went to my local retro shop hoping someone may have bought a repo cart in but no. I hope someone gets this re-released as an DL game.

  • @indigo1384 I found a rom if you'd like.

  • @CornshaqGaming I love those collection of yours yeaaaahhhhhh! =)

  • I remember this. It was such a scary game back in the day. This game might not have made it to the US, but where I come from it did make it, and not I'm from Japan, but I'm sure it was bootleg copies heh heh, still same game.

  • in a way this is the first resident evil game.

amazing to see how even the most popular and most different RE games such as RE 4 and 5 could not be here without sweet home. Of course RE 1 RE 0 and RE CV are the RE games most similar to sweet home. just those scary elements in those games were truely sweet home inspired.

  • Its a castle its made of stone so maybe it was weak and feel from the ghost at the beginning

  • yes but were would rocks inexplicably appear in a mansion?

  • wtf asuka is wearing a motherfuckin vacuum?

  • @bastianuchiha You never know when you might need it?? lol

  • "So this is a ghost and he says: Yeah...you're screwed" :)

  • I love finding old Japanese games that didn't get released over here in America but this one is bar none the best one ive ever played. Takes a bit to get used to but when you do I think it blows away any rpg of its time. Then again im biased toward the subject matter. This game is definitely the forerunner to Res Evil. You can google it and read the history. Even though I love RE this is still my favorite from the "series" even though its not really canon. Check out the opening door cutscenes.

  • Thanks for uploading this :)

  • There should be a DS port or a Virtual Console port. The only fear in this game seems to solely be the fact of your characters dying for good.

  • yeah, it's not really possible to get this game right? Someone should write to XSeed, they import everything that is niche

  • Jill:The Master of unlocking

    Emi:The grandmaster of unlocking

    XD

  • she was almost going to be emi sandwich

  • the character with the vacuum isn't actually a maid. in the movie she is the host of a television show and a art restoration specialist. that's why she brought a vacuum.

  • Comment removed

  • @Prygst Um it is, and this game gave inspiration to Resident Evil so if you still doesnt think this is survival horror.. then YOUR wrong. Try again next time

  • Imagine if they made a Resident Evil like this!

    Zombie attacks.

    Jill attacks,

    Zombie flees.

  • Actually, it is widely believed that this game did provide inspiration for the Resident Evil series. For example, Sweet Home does resemble RE3 at some points in the storyline, like when the huge fires break out, or the puzzles.

  • I was under the impression that it was made by the guy who made RE?

  • That's probably where the whole mansion setting comes into play, and the hounds remind me of Cerberus from RE2.

  • This game pretty much seems to give a lot of inspiration for the Resident Evil trilogy (as in the three games of the Raccoon City story).

  • @Rexco33 hahaha Jill levels up!

  • Where the fuck did those rocks come from?

    That makes NO SENSE.

  • very little made sense back then in games

  • ghost prolly did it

  • They're called quick time events.

  • you could call ObsCure a remake of this game

  • i watched this entire walkthrough. What an awesome game!!! Thanks dude!!! =D

  • Emi. The master of unlocking. =D

  • lol, it's kinda like final fantasy meets resident evil.

  • This is a great game... I should play it again someday. It would be awesome if they remade it for the DS, too!

  • It'd be nice if you shut up for a bit during the movie, no offense of course. -_-

  • this game is one of the main inspirations for resident evil.

  • Lol of course...Like one of those dinosaur movies about Godzilla back then was still scary...But now its nothing lmao..

  • Hey Cornshaq

Good playthrough. I found this game a year or so ago. I'd heard about it though. I haven't really sat down to play through it yet. It's not an RPG but a great modern horror game is Fatal Frame from 2002. It would be interesting if Nintendo decided to put this on the virtual console. They've put a few Japanese only games on it. Sadly I doubt It will happen. Great game and Great job.

  • Thanks I am huge fan of the fatal frame series I have played all three and can't wait for the Wii one if it finally gets released.

  • Hey Cornshaq, will you eventually play through those other point-and-click games on the NES like Deja Vu or Uninvited?

  • Yep I plan to do both and shadowgate.

  • @CornshaqGaming

    when!

  • the resident evil in nes :D

  • Interesting that you say that; in the game there's a quote from a note the characters find outside the house that reads:

"...To those who follow, the diary key is hidden. A clue is in the basement. You must escape this house of residing evil!"

  • O_O oh xD

  • Good "Let's play"; No dead silence in the commentary, I like that.

I also plan on doing a "Let's Play" of Guardian Heroes. Which I'm gonna add voice acting to the in game text dialogue.

  • good job

  • I bet someone already told you this but the events which you have to make a choice quick is called "Quick Time Event" (QTE). The first I heard of QTE's was in Shenmue.

  • I 1st saw them in Die Hard Arcade.

  • Oh yeah, your right.

  • can anyone point in in the right direction as to were i can download this game thanks

  • google sweet home fan translation....im not gonna give you a specific website you can figure that out by yourself

  • over there ---->

lol nah jk send me a pm

  • y couldnt they say that it was 4 adults only if they had 2 censor most of the stuff?

  • I believe they hadn't created the ESRB rating system yet... not until 1992 I think.

  • November 1994.

  • ah okay still later than this game.

  • The perspective is weird. Like they are all leaning back as they walk.

    Interesting looking game though.

  • This game is awesome, if anyone was wondering.

  • i may have to get this game

  • So there are 21 tonics in the whole game? Is that the only way you can heal? If so, I guess you can't grind too much as you might run out of tonics...

  • Yep only 21 the only good thing is to beat the game you really only need to be between 10 and 15 in levels and the game only goes to level 20. Still it is pretty tough.

  • I'm very much looking forward to the rest of this video, I hope we are able to see the whole thing before Halloween.

  • You will I am going to post every part before next Friday.

  • What was that vacuum cleaner like thing right before the door that lead to the zombie?

  • What are all the peices of paper everywhere?

  • They are little notes with information and other cool stuff I recommend playing the game and reading them all. I didn't in the run for time reasons plus it would get boring with me just reading tons of text for an extra hour of gameplay.

  • you should put all the parts up at once then just one day at a time. It sucks when your in the middled of something and then your cut off.

  • Why don't just wait for all parts to go up and watch then if you have this kind of issues? O.o

  • yeh but big if you wait the full vid may be posted on truegaming

  • Yes this video will be posted in full on the site.

  • hell yeah! nice job cs
