  • is that cedar in the back? i thought cedar didn't grow in europe

  • Maybe the best flint knapping I have seen, definitely up there, couldn't believe how thin the arrowheads are and how easy he made the notching look!

  • He makes it look so easy..a true craftsman!

  • Are we talking Organist "Purple" Lord??

  • John is a Legend.

  • thanks for uploading! wonderful to watch him at work. I'm sure its much harder than he makes it look.

  • what kind of rock is he shaping? anyone?

  • @prguyy

    Flint

  • @seanmulhall

Thanks. What about the rock he used to shape it with?

  • @prguyy Any large stone. He also uses reindeer antler or cow knuckles. I use large round stones and red deer antler.

  • @seanmulhall AH! the name Flintstones makes sense now. ^_^

  • @prguyy Looks like knife river flint.

  • truly amazing!! Some interesting spinning going on in the background there too? thanks for uploading:-)

  • wow look at the scars on his hands...i guess he's fucked up once or twice lol

  • @ThePereginPigeon Those are Hunter-Gatherer hands!

  • @CaptainYossarian Lol i was thinkin the same thing, them are caveman hands right there. Could they possible get any more rough.

  • jakoś niemrawo uderza ten chłop, szczególnie przy tym pięściaku

  • John Lord is a legend, I did a day course with his son Will =)

  • This is the best flintknapping video on YouTube, hands down. I can't believe what I'm seeing when he starts to remove those long beautiful blades. This is a great video for teaching about the Paleolithic.

  • Big John Lord Fan, improved my knapping no end from his book and DVD.

  • where could i get points like these for hunting

  • Well, this course shows you how to make one your own, so why bothering to buy one if you can make them yourself...

  • the way he breaks the obisidan at 5:40 is cro-magnon style (i think)

  • have you ever been to ireland ?

  • Are you left handed, or do you just flint knapp with your left hand?

  • John LOrd is left handed. I am also left handed. If you were right handed you would strike the flint with your right hand.

  • Thanks for the upload!!..5/5

  • That is a flattned piece of copper inserted into antler . It is an authentic tool used in flint knapping.

  • I stand corrected. that makes the video much better. I'll watch it again. thank you.

  • Sean thk for this video John is very good at knapping, look like you guys had fun.

  • The hand axes look like cromagnon style.

  • Awesome video.

  • 5/5

  • Brilliant!!!

    Many Thanks Sean.

Glad to see Pablo out and about.

  • really good but long lol 5/5

  • I agree but I thought some people may appreciate seeing the entire process from rock to hand axe.

  • @seanmulhall I sure as hell did! Fantastic video. If you have anything else on knapping, POST IT! I can't get enough of this stuff. It's really helpful for us beginners...

  • how do you allow the video to be watched with the lights turned down ?

  • Do you mean videoing in the Dark? If so my camera has a small light on it.

  • nice i sometimes do that

  • wow hes got some skill, i noticed pablo, he hasnt made any vids in ages is his foot any better?

  • Pablos foot is on the mend. A few more weeks yet though.

  • Those finger nails nearly made me puke!

  • if you don,t like it don,t watch it.

  • dude wtf who cares his a great flint knapper

  • Could you make a more retarded comment?

You just opened you're mouth & let your arse rattle.

    Watch & learn you dolt.

  • I wasn't going to respond to the first ignoramus out of respect to Sean but since a number of people have honed in on my remark I will defend it more clearly. There's more to bushcraft than making things- there's hygiene. What do you suppose that black stuff is under his nails? Could it possibly be fecal matter? Do you know the diseases that carries? Perhaps if you served in the military you'd know better or maybe Sean will do a series on personal hygiene in the bush.

  • my first thought was: not bad for an organist...

but than i saw the h in John :-)

  • Absolute treasure is this Sean, thanks a hell of a lot for uploading this.

Very lucky you are to have met this master.

I hope you had a great time.

  • why doesn't he wear safety glasses ?

  • He explained tht the flint shards go away from him but towards us. Also he has been doing this for thirty five years so knows what he is doing.
