@awesomeguy1979 i dont know about judo but as for bjj a belt dont matter its the skill of the person and the move they attempt to use. i myself am a white belt in bjj but a blue belt i train with loves the omoplata and ive seen him execute it on senior people multiple times.
@dohboiii alot of variables comes in to play, A: BJJ players dont have the same stance that judo players would for i.e bjj players are ready to sprawl or just push their opponent away. B: 90 percent of the time BJJ players have the mindset to pull guard, in the event the two actually do decide to stand you will more than likely see a wrestling takedown or a sacrifice throw if that person has trained in judo instead of the traditionally major judo throw on the feet i.e hip throw.
I have earned a Black Belt in Judo, it is my base Martial Art, but I love BJJ too. The moves are about the same for both arts. I will be posting Judo vids as well.
The only difference between Kosen Schools and regular Judo Clubs is the amount of focus on mat work. We qualify as a Kosen School because we focus so much on mat work. A standard Class consists of one or two throws, or combos, counters, etc., then the rest of the time is on mat work. We do Kosen Randori twice a week and Regular Judo Randori once a week.
Mr. Maeda was a Kodokan judoka. "Kosen" is not a different style with different techniques.
It is a training/tactical emphasis on the full Judo curriculum: standing to ground to submission with different competition rules, e.g. drag downs, extended newaza.
"Kosen" is a contraction of: Koutogakko 高等学校 = High School AND Senmongakko 専門学校 = Technical or Professional College =
Koutosenmongakko 高等専門学校 = roughly Interscholastic Judo League.
Wow nice move. It definitely will work and I'm about to try it in class today. I love rolling and sweeping into submissions, its very beautiful. Thanks.
I thought that spider guard styling (with the leg wrapped around the arm) looked familiar. I train in a Machado school and am loving it. We're working on spider guard now and I'll be anxious to give this a try.
would be very difficul to do on anyone above white or lower blue, way to much space and no real momentum to get into the plata.

I think you create too much space, it would be too easy for him to stand or roll. Other than that its nice.

I like this one, is it legal in Judo???
judo1120 3 years ago
It is legal in Judo, just hard to get with the time limits on the ground. Omoplata in BJJ is Sankaku Garami in Judo.

Explain that to Jean Jacques Machado, where I learned the technique from. By the way, this has worked many times.
