  • John Perkins for President 2012

  • On this drive for cheap goods. Our economy is interest based. People want to buy one house but they have to buy two or three over the course of a 30 year 'loan'. We consider that its normal and natural for financiers to receive 2/3rds of the pie in this game.So people responding to this pinch pennies and look for savings wherever they can. Take the compounding debt game out of this equation and people will be naturally more generous.

  • The gold bugs are crazy.

  • We currently have a population of 7 billion and apparently produce enough food for 11 billion and yet half the planet is starving.

    Something is wrong.

We definitely have a distribution problem.

  • RT does a FANTASTIC JOB!

Another brilliant guest, John PERKINS ignites consciousness, a key factor to Real change.

His new book is another hit!

  • Lauren Lyster in pants?!?! WTF

  • oh wot and there is a non predatory version of captolism somewhere? oh i'd love to hear an example supported by facts... go on people fact me up on that one.

  • Sorry, but there's nothing new here. What's the point of the interview?

  • Comment removed

  • @mikecorbeil what are you talking about? How was this mistitled? The interview with Perkins was for 15 minutes. What on earth are you talking about?

  • @RTProducer I said it was mistitled because the whole video is titled such that the whole 28 minutes and not just 15 minutes of it is for the interview with John Perkins! Video title, "Economic Hit Man John Perkins on the Failed Global Corporatocracy ". Video duration, 28 min. Actual time granted for John, 15 min, barely more than half the video. Is that logic too difficult to understand?

The title is misleading, because the title means the whole vid should be with John!

  • @mikecorbeil yes Mike, but our show's main focus is the guest. Ultimately, the guest is the main focus of the show. Same goes for Word of the Day and Headlines. They are all geared towards our guest segment, and this is where the focus is. It should stand to reason that we title our videos with the names of our guests.

  • @RTProducer Fine. No further bitching or griping from me. I should've read the text accompanying the video. If that had been done, then I think that my griping would've never been posted. You'll rarely find me complaining about RT videos, any of the categories of RT videos. It's just that, well, it happened this time, and I'll be more careful in the future.

    Thanks for your reply.

  • @mikecorbeil Yes, 15 of 28 minutes is indeed "barely more than 50%." However, the problem in this equation is not the math. The problem is your assumption that the tittle of a video corresponds to 100% of the video. This is where your understanding of "logic" breaks down. A model is only as good as the assumptions you are making. You should watch our interview with Steve Keen. It may help your understanding of AUM

  • @mikecorbeil good to see that people on the Internet haven't lost their ability to nitpick over pointless trivial shit.

  • @basletum Sorry dodo. But all I was attracted by was interview with John Perkins. The rest of what's said in the video clip is nothing to me today; not having been asleep for a long time. He, however, is a person who speaks based on experience extremely few people have and which isn't taught in schools. If you want school-bench ed., then there are plenty of schools waiting to accept your thousands of $ for relatively little in return.

  • @mikecorbeil Then use that mouse in your hand to listen only to the damn interview and skip the rest. Learn2Internet, dummy.

  • Comment removed

  • @mikecorbeil I'm not the one bitching. You are, nitpicky whinebag.

  • @basletum And you're an ass. Discussion closed.

  • @basletum It's not a question of nitpicking, idiot. It's a question of being able to competently communicate. People who can't do that need aids. You had no respect for someone who happened to be drawn to view or listen to the whole video based on the title saying it's with John Perkins and it's at best half of the quasi half hour. Wasting other people's time is of no concern to you, as you again prove. My initial opinion remains, moron.

  • @mikecorbeil don't talk about "being able to competently communicate" if in the same post you call the person a "nitpicking idiot" "moron" who "needs AIDS"...

  • @EndWesternTyranny Find yourself a very high bridge and jump off, free-fall style, without bungee cord or parachute. We'll then be making headway for Peace in this world. Kidd!

  • @EndWesternTyranny i'm an "ass" because you don't know what "anti-politics" means? okay then...

  • @basletum What's trivial to you isn't necessarily trivial to someone else, butthead.

And discussion session is now closed. I have no more time to waste with your inability to comprehend "where others are coming from". To err is human, but that's too trivial for you, n'est-ce pas.

  • And drop Thom Hartmann, a person I can hardly listen to, because of his lack of critical objectivity. He defended the Obama campaign in 2008, so can hardly be truly considered to be of serious critical objectivity, honesty, and so on; and it isn't the last time that he did this. Liberal idiots don't make for qualitative education.

  • RT pisses me off with this so-called interview though. A lot of this video clip isn't with John at all, and what isn't with him is unnecessary, not contributing anything of real value, while he has plenty to contribute. Wake up RT! When saying a video is for an interview with a particular person or group of persons, then stick to that and cut out the unnecessary additional crap; give more time to the people interviewed.

There's [some] poor programming at RT, so please correct this.

  • Some idiots in the US bitch about RTAmerica being based in the USA, equating it with corporate US media, without any respectful regard for the content of quality that RT provides. I don't agree with a lot of what Thom Hartmann says and don't pay attention to his RT channel, fe, but RT nevertheless provides some qualitative content that deserves to be appreciated enough for us to support RT.

This interview with John Perkins is one of the examples.

So anti-RT'ers, shut the f*ck up.

  • I greatly appreciate listening to and reading anything John says when coming across any of it. He speaks from 1st-hand experience, and greatly converted, so his words are of great value; not that those of us who haven't needed to do bad things to others and who already have sufficient instinctiveness to realize that bad is what's being asked or ordered of us to do aren't appreciable. It's simply Great when evil-doers change for the better and then help to inform us based on their experiences.

  • John McCain :

What a laugh. "American investors" would love to invest in Libya? CAPITALISM, thievery, lies, racketeering, genocide, war of aggression, ...! Bloody bastards.

Read the following articles to see how demonically demented these investors are, greedy and lying sob's.

"Qaddafi Unplugged and Uncensored", informationclearinghouse dot info/article27856.htm

  • John isn't an "economic hitman, at least a former one". He simply is a former one and shouldn't be referred to as if he might still be one. Lauren should definitely correct this error that she made, by beginning with saying that John "is an economic hitman". No present tense reference to that past of his should be made as if it continues today, for it clearly isn't and hasn't been true for plenty of years! And people who do bad things have a right to be respected when correcting their ways!

  • Capital Account is awesome. Good old fashion gloom and doom presented by an awesome looking woman. Damn I love this show.

  • Sure, we Russians knew already where we are headed if the Obama administration and Wall Street Corrupt Corporatocracy continues to exist and not ban and criminalized and their activities reversed. Thermonuclear War. Russia has more than enough space and natural resources to sustains billions but the problem is lack of human resources to develop them in a close-loop biospheric-noosphere system. People are individuals but corporations are avariciously greedy hungry animals and are not people.

  • As a Russian officer to the American people. Start arming yourselves to the teeth, start forming citizens militia against an increasingly corrupt U.S Government controlled by Wall Street Banking Corporations and against their increasingly corrupt police & military. Start becoming preppers, store as much supplies of all kinds to last you for 6 months to 6 yrs if you can, concentrate on basics & critical items like full-spectrum antibiotics, colloidal silver, first aid kits, heirloon seeds, etc.

  • Why do these news ladys almost always talk through there nose ?

  • wouldnt it be something if the govt went after the fed and big corp and overthrew them under the "RICO" act?

  • Not that I disagree with Perkins' underlying premise, but does anybody, beside myself, ever find it a bit disingenuous when people have this sudden "epiphany" of moralism and the world around them only after they themselves have built their wealth in that same system? Sure, the cycle has to stop somewhere, but where is his credibility here?

  • @TheCpacekjr "but does anybody, beside myself, ever find it a bit disingenuous when people have this sudden "epiphany" of moralism and the world around them only after they themselves have built their wealth in that same system?"

    I do.

    "where is his credibility here?"

Make sure you distinguish between his message's credibility and his as a human being. While the latter is zero, there is no reason that should affect the former because there is nothing in it for him to indict himself.

  • The Venus Project

    Your time to shine.

  • If anyone is interested in the Roubini/Rickards war, you can see how it started back in 11/19/2010 on CNBC

google > currency wars jim rickards nouriel roubini cnbc

  • In this day and age, what kind of naive person isn't cynical about the shadowy, nasty, corrupt, and downright evil nature of corporations?

  • did you guys see that RT just pulled the audio from John Perkins he was just about to give corporations names.

  • @buff24seven i don't think they pulled his audio, looked like he was dodging that question.

  • Lauren should get naked for playboy.

  • @buff24seven IDIOT !

  • @buff24seven she has the goods.... :D

  • Sorry, Roubini-- just because you were right about the housing bubble, doesn't make you right about everything.... especially when you have been almost 3 years off and $1000 wrong on calling out a gold bubble in 2008!

That just puts Roubini in the camp of the Bernankes, who still can't seeing what wrong with the way they are trying to "(re)solve" the 2008 financial crisis-- and stop bringing up Keynes' name, esply since you don't get that gov stimulus shd come fr past SURPLUSES, e.g China...

  • Yay another credit downgrade

  • Great show as allways very informative!!

  • they are freaking out over 1.2 trillion proposed spending over the next 10 years?!?! really?

    Am I missing something?

  • wow, great show

  • Gotcha! LOL

  • @arr4gtr F%$& you. :)

  • Milton Friedman. THAT son of a bitch promoted this business culture. A corporate fascist. Period.

  • oh my god he wanted government to have nothing to do with business. if you made it so government didnt give money out to businesses then corruption couldn't take place. in order to get rid of fascism we need to get rid of the environment that allows it and go back to a strictly capitalistic way where creating jobs is easier. where poor people can keep the money they earn so the government doesnt give it to a bunch of millionaires and billionaires in the ruse of "promoting the economy"

  • @theeonionbagel "if you made it so government didnt give money out to businesses then corruption couldn't take place."

Without any gov you get "private corruption" aka fraud-- e.g. what Jon Corzine did with MF Global was technically "legal", because the financial sector lobbied for less regulation!

Power corrupts big biz just as easily as it corrupts gov, because BOTH are HUMAN organizations-- so people need to check gov corruption, while the gov keeps fraud in check... now that's a SYSTEM

  • @theeonionbagel Like oh my god you idiot....you dipshit the corporations have TAKEN OVER. they run the government and Friedman was their intellegentsia. Friedman is a fascist. Go eat a bagel will yah, like oh my god. There is no one stopping private corporations from doing whatever they want...government is protecting them asshole. im sick of you government blamers...fucking corporate revolving door in congress for multinationals. I want an onion baggggeellllllllll

  • I agree. I want Obama to take care of this for me. It is worrying me and I don't like having my mellow harshed by this sort of financial stuff. The numbers are just too big and they make my head hurt with all this economics talk.

    Just FIX IT!!!!!!11

I vote so that these leaders will TAKE CARE OF IT and run things so that I can go about my life and enjoy myself! ZH

  • and you! i thought at first you were making fun of obama supporters.the only way a democracy can survive is for its citizens to be educated in things like the arcane esoteric science of economics and for them to actually give a damn. how r u supposed to know how to vote if you dont understand the issues?by how charismatic they ar?obama cant make the economy better by smiling at it.

  • @louis12346 he doesnt understand the crisis. he didnt predict it like ron paul did.vote ron paul or we'll experience hyper inflation.but u probly dont know what that is so i suggests u look it up

  • Sovereign Debt must end.

  • Nice teacher , I'm Here , call on me

  • Excellent show! Great interview with John Perkins.

  • Mankind does not drink alcohol because there are breweries, man brew beer because there is demand for beer. beer did not create drinking habits or drinking songs. "Armament capital" did not create wars. wars created armament capital.

  • @Armando7654 That's ignorant. Fewer breweries, fewer ads and more restricted sale would lead to way fewer alcoholics.

  • @viperswhip

why should man be restricted to buy what he wishes? why should his freedom of choice, freedom of conscience & so pursuit of happiness be restricted? this is America, not stinking russia? Fewer liberties would lead to way fewer human beings and to many more slaves. ignorant? look who's talking!

  • @Armando7654 I don't care if people buy it, but you argue that availability does not lead to increased consumption? Wow.

  • @rswhip wow your own shortsightedness. "availability" doesn't have a will of it's own, does it? "availability" is just a human awareness and awareness doesn't have a will of its own nor does it create reality; human will, choice and action does. to restrict the exercise of discipline over one's will is to encourage man to be molded only by the external authority such as the state or nature (not one's conscience), in which case human beings would turn into beasts, farm animals.

  • The marvelous Lauren Lyster, she could make a report about paint drying entertaining, but this content presented by her is wonderous.

  • Such a great Job once again.. Thank you !

  • psst...

    RT is a multinational corporation...

  • john perkins is a morally bankrupt failure, what do we expect to learn from him, you think his compass shows north? oh but he says it's the corporations, how credible! C'mon Lauren, can't you find someone with a little more integrity to validate your communist bias? LOL

  • @Armando7654 All I get from your comments is that you are a fucking moron.

  • Why should a corporation not buy what's for sale? If the government official chooses to privatize public office then where is the failure located if not in the public sector?

  • Thanks Lauren ! :) Great show

  • Hey Lauren, if a guy pitches money at you to discredit you as woman and you freely choose to accept the money instead of choosing to reject it, who's fault will it be if tomorrow you will wake up with busted ass, the guy's who offer you the money or your for choosing to accept it? Will you blame the guy or yourself? think veeery hard

  • And who is perverting the capitalism if not the Government?

  • Comment removed

  • this is a failure of the government not of the economic system

  • the present circumstances are the outcome of the absence of capitalism and the effects of government policies sabotaging the operation of capitalism
