think I am in a hypomanic state right now. my mind is full of all these ideas and I really really really want to get a tattoo like RIGHT now I don't wanna wait! I'm being extremely flirty and talkative to everyone and I've spent so much money on clothes over the last week, I just can't control my spending it's crazy. I just hope this feeling lasts I'm not looking forward to the inevitable crash. Check out the videos on my page I talk about my experience.
'Hypomania'? That's a psychiatric term. Which isn't a science and has no objective proof of anything it says, including its 374 'mental disorders' in the DSM. You are dismissed for that reason.
Lots of claims that you can do something, repeated for four minutes. No details.
HOW one relates to attempted sleep deprivation, and how to go about that well... that's what this video lacks and leaves us waiting for as a follow up.
i know what u mean. i took myself there, Dr. Williiam T Hewitts' Beyond Hypnosis. and have been there several times, i always forget to count myself down. this definately works, but first timers BEWARE. ONCE YOU OPEN THE DOOR, IT can be tricky and even scary, dont forget to close THE DOOR BEHIND YOU.
Crashing is only going to happen through suggestion. It's not a crash that you go through.. You're human. Your body and mind need to slow down at some point.
I find when I've been hypomanic, I'm usually pretty mentally drained and I'm like "I don't really wanna be open with people right now and just wanna be by myself"
The Citizens Commission on Human Rights (CCHR) is a mental health watchdog, responsible for helping to enact more than 150 laws protecting us from abusive or coercive practices.
CCHR has fought to restore human rights to mental health, including, full informed consent regarding the medical legitimacy of psychiatric diagnosis, risks of psychiatric treatments,
and the RIGHT TO REFUSE TREATMENT. I was a victim of psychiatry for many years, Im not part of this CCHR.org but agree 100%
@NinetiesYouth and exhausting... there are times I wish I could just go full blown manic for one hour rather than get through days or hypomania and being a complete spaz over work, school and every issue facing humanity. I'm in hypomania righ now and I can't wait for the crash *sigh* I don't want meds, and I don't actually want to lose this energy forever since it does help, but how to balance it long term is the question. Godlike creativity is right, but its also like a 72 hour marathon
After decades of medication, my mother seems to be getting stuck in pressured speech mode every waking moment. She starts talking about everyone and bringing up everything they ever did or said to her that hurt her feelings. We are talking about going back over 40 years for some of these things. How do I help her, because the doctors don't seem to be able to any more and I think the prescription drugs have given her brain damage.
'Sleep deprivation causes hypomania' - it can if you are already bipolar. It won't if you are not. People tortured with sleep deprivation don't become hypomanic - they just pass out.
I was put "safely" in hypomanic mode (in the psych ward after having been dysthimic for 10 years and having had 2 major depressions) and had to change psychiatrists to get off the pill that got me there (Zoloft)...
Oh, but now I'm diagnosed as bipolar II, though that was the only hypomanic episode I've ever had. I react badly to most psych pills (from hypomania to severe allergies to not being able to get up for 2 days after a minimum dose)

How many days/hours of sleep is dangerous for someone with hypomania? From my knowledge if you sleep deprive yourself then you eventually get stuck in a eternal cycle of serious ups and downs. Great Video by the way.
This is supposedly part how they get them to keep giving the church of scientology more money to be "cleared"(get high)...
It is mind control because they start to feel they constantly need to go to tech and are willing to believe anything the church says because it makes them feel good...
I have heard of that! I also experienced that in the Scientology cult offshott I was involved with. Yep, the "clearing" makes you feel good so you keep going back. I know I was in and out of hypomania many times. Yeah its fun going up, but hell going down. I prefer a more balanced and healthy state of mind! I sure don't like sleeping for 12 hours at a stretch!. Thats what happens afer a hypomanic eppisode, or worse!
It very hard to say what state of mind Cruise is in. He exhibits odd behavioral traits and strange cognitive states. He might be hypomanic, maybe just slightly. The thing is even just slight states of hypomania also mean a crash! I really cant say what his problem is beside Scientology.
thank for the reply P.D. ...I think your story and vids are interesting...I looked up alot of scientology stuff after watching your vids.
I watched one about the E-meter possibly helping to stimulate hypomania..because it produces endorphins....They said that is why they target drug users because the effects of the voltage of the E-meter produces a replacement high....
The E-meter as a stimulus response to produce a high? Thats a very interesting thought! Although that may be a little simplistic in an explanation. It does deserve some further examination. We know that when we engage in pleasurable activities, we release dopamine into the brain, Dopamine is directly responsible for hypomania and mania. There is some connection here, but I cant make an assumption just yet!
I would certainly consider his behaviour indicative of a hypomanic psyche during the time period when he first began dating Katie Holmes. Remember him going mental on Opera?
PART6: I started looking at other natural meds. like POTTTTT that put my butt to sleep like that. i just havent been able to smoke for about a week now which is why the insomnia is back now and have no appitite atleast when i smoke my symtoms seem to go away. so could you tell me the difference between borderline personality disorder and bipolar is there a difference or is it the samething?
PART5: they had me first on Paxil and Depakote that didnt work so they upped the dose that didnt work either so they changed it to zoloft and depakote and that still didnt work i then decided i was done being a Guinnie pig
PART4 i was baker acted once; kept for 72 hours. they said i had something like borderline personality disorder but they gave me something i was told by others was for manic depression. Is borderline personality disorder the same as being Bipolar?
@BiracialGirl1977 Borderline personality disorder isn't the same as Bipolar disorder. Borderine is a personality disorder (you don't say!), whilst bipolar is a mood disorder. They both has very similar symptoms, although borderline's mood swings usually last no more than a couple of days. It is also fairly common for someone to have borderline and bipolar at the same time.
PART3:ohh yeah and my appitite totally goes away when this happens, i mean my body says that i'm hungry like my stomach will growl but the thought of eating it makes me gag it's like my brain is saying No but my body is saying feed me Semore.
PART2:it's soo freaking annoying, even when i'm not trying to go to sleep thoughts just keep coming i guess that means i'm in mania or hypomania now????
this is kinda long Doc so bare with me.PART1: Well i guess i go through that naturally then cause this is the 4th day i havent slept, i CANT evreytime i try i just go into thought after thought after thought i ponder on everything from the stupidest stuff to the more deep stuff like the meaning of life, what it feels like to die, what really happens after you die ect. ect,(obsessed with death, all aspects of it and i dont know why).fav show is DR. G
yes, it's amazing how many doctors prescribe meds and don't even know what it's like to experience hallucinations or other states of mind... and then when people report side effects, doctors say 'that these medications were designed to help you and that's the end of it!
It happens all to frequently and its not just with the psychiatric medications! It is amazing the amount of side effects various medications have and some can be lethal! Additionally, medication sensitivity can make one even more sucesptible to the side effects! OUCH!
I think that we can enjoy a truly energized state that comes from solid non-trance meditation techniques. Its not hypomania or even trance, but the focused states coupled with a good high from exercise just cant be beat. Still hypomania does feel good, but at what cost?
Even though I can take a person there, coming down is still something which needs to be done right. The thing to do when coming out of hypomania, is to get a full 8 to 12 hours of uninterupted sleep. Afterwards, definitely get your vitamins, lots of fresh fruits good quality protien. But especially good fruits. My personal theory is that when we are in hypomania, we deplete our glucose (and vtmns) reserves and need to replenish them quickly and safely, fruit will do that.

This is easily one of the biggest goals of my life - hypomania and control of it, as it is a big part of my life.
Check my videos if you want - mostly they're blogs on bipolar disorder and my experiences and guitar videos

@gemartii I beg to differ, sleep deprivation can quite easily lead to imbalances in brain chemistry which can easily create temporary hypomania.

what causes the hallucinations though ?
DavidAKZ 3 years ago
Most likely the halucinations are caused by the neurochemistry of the brain going haywire. Specifically Dopamine.
