  • Do they show affection in any way or are they more of that "meh, I'm only here b/c you give me a place to live".

  • @rminitials

Some gliders are like that. I have three. Two girls and a boy. One of my girls likes to climb all over me and lick. The other only wants treats. And the boy only wants me when he's out of the cage to play.

  • aww he's a cutie :) love the name!! Mine do the same thing, its so cute when they fly and glide!

  • How do people find these things?

  • @tienshenhan86

Breeders, usually. Some people, like me, just have a breeding pair with occasional joeys. And some pets stores have them, though I wouldn't recommend this unless they're a local store that sells their own pets' babies.

  • Cute!

  • What kind of cage is furbat in? The bars are closer together than mine and mine escapes so I can only put him in the larger cage to play while i watch him.

  • I want one, but If they jump at me, as cute as they can be I would get so scared and dodge because I get spooked easy.

  • imagine a sugar glider jumping from tree to tree in the wild sometimes gliding 50 ft they are so special

  • thumbs up if you tried to pause him in mid air

  • OMFG!! THAT THING LAUNCHED LIKE FRICKEN KAMIKAZE STYLE!!!

  • I prefer to see them WILD where they can roam free. Used to have them in my backyard and they were nocturnal coming to my bird feeders at night. They are cute.

  • hey how much do they cost and how or where can i buy 1, im interested????

  • i getting 1 for christmas!!! :)

  • @Shandalera1 Hope you've done enough research as to not kill it through bad diet.

  • its called gliding

  • Are they as difficult to take care of as expertvillage says so? I saw them today at thge mall and fell in love

  • @MrBiged1966 Look up glider central and glider gossip. Read as much as you can stand and ask as many questions as you can think of. As long as you keep up on current information I haven't really found them too hard to care for.

  • Got any "fur-babe" for him?

They can stay in a wintersock and make fur-babies..

  • im in the process of building a cage for the one that im buying:) I cant wait.. im EPIC at carpentry, before anyone goes ape on me

  • where did u get your glider please respond!

  • do you have plastic around the cage? because i think i saw it in previous videos, but do they really flick all their food around when eating in their cage?

  • @pippy1994 I know wikipedia isnt a good source, but according to wikipedia they are in the 'least concern' conservation group, making them very much not endangered.

  • @kiwishizzle Yea I realised that, I only said they were endangered 'cause I saw someone else say they were. But I've never actually seen one in real life. Well the person on this video lives in the US.

  • @pippy1994

Dood they're native here in Indonesia too ya know. They're not that endangered too.

  • holy shit i got a girl i didnt know the boys were that big

  • How precious!

  • never seen 1 b4 but it looks so cute

  • i want one so bad.... where can i get one and how much are they? :)

    Good video

  • what a good little sugar glider, its amazing how smart animals can be

  • Cute! What's it like being the owner of a Sugar Glider? :D

  • Bloody Americans "OMGSOCUTE! HAVE TO PUT IT IN A CAGE IN MY ROOM!!!!!!".

  • @gnarkillkicksass You may talk shit about Americans, but as soon as you say the word "bloody", the world knows exactly where you are from, chap.

  • @gretschgrenadier Yes the word "bloody" is quite used around the world by (mostly) Commonwealth countries from Jamaica to New Zealand, India, South Africa, Bermuda, Pakistan and Australia etc... Oh BTW "chap" is only used in southern England.

  • AHHHHHH IT'S SO CUTEE!!!

  • I WANT ONE!

  • how did you train it to jump to you? thats crazy

  • @ExquisiteCorpus i bribed him with food. just like pavlov's dog... every time i give my sugar glider a treat i would make a "clicking" sound. after a while, he would associate the clicking sound with "go to mommy". they're really smart, it didn't take long.

  • @ok10minute hahaha same with my rabbit every single time she hears the bag of treats open she starts hopping and running towards me flipping around it never gets old :)

  • @ok10minute I tried that, my male had a problem with biting me when I tried to pick him up. I clicked and said, "Come here, Tweak(his name) wile showing him a mealworm. I'd use the worm to get him into my hand, not when I click and call him he comes to me! Still not trusting me 100% but getting there, thanks! It only took him about 5-8 days to learn.

  • I just got my own sugar glider not too long ago.. I need advice on bonding with her lol

  • its a girl i hope you know...

  • @nokeo91 no he's a male. he's neutered.

  • @ok10minute Why? Theres not much of a chance that they would start breeding uncontrollably in the neighbourhood like streys.

I dont like it when people mutilate the animal, you either go with the real animal, or.... what?

  • @Elephantintheroom01 wait, are you saying that pets shouldn't be neutered/spayed(altered)?

I don't know anything about these dudes but I know their has been numerous studies showing that cat and dogs have longer lives when altered not to mention it stops over population. And I know that female ferrets will die if they are not altered. Plus there are complications that can can arise for any species giving birth including humans neutering can protect your pets.

    My cats are proudly altered.

  • @AleraBloodsong Longer life is not the objective of animals, they have their own genetic objectives. Do not interfere with them just so you can have a pet around the house. They trust you dammit.

Overpopulation. Compared to what? There is no such thing as overpop.

Some animals like cats will try to breed as much as possible given adequate food and shelter. Its in all our genetics. They may breed too much until they outstrip their resources. But more likly it will just stabilise.

  • @Elephantintheroom01 Overpopulation in animals occurs when there are more animals than homes for them. This happens through breeding by humans. Therefore its the humans responsibility to ensure overpopulation doesn't happen. This can be easily accomplished by altering pets. Animals in my house are altered to prevent breeding as we can't handle any more and won't put our babies out into the world for people to abuse.

  • @nscrfn83 No it doesnt.

Overpopulation occurs when a species outstrips its food supply. This is one of the reasons for deer kulling.

  • @Elephantintheroom01 This is true, and for DOMESTICATED animals this occurs when there are no homes. With no home there is nobody to supply food for the animal, therefore overpopulation has occurred.

So how do you propose we prevent overpopulation in domesticated animals? Because you can't fix overpopulation of domestic animals the same way you can wild animals.

  • @nscrfn83 Saying that domesticated animals cannot find food for themselves is like saying domesticated humans cannot find food without a shopping mall.

  • @Elephantintheroom01 In a home situation where a pet is kept, how is it going to fend for itself? I keep pet food in sealed containers for freshness and to keep bugs from getting into it. My pets have NO way to get their food, just as most pets wouldn't, so how will they fend for themselves? Then add into the equation some pets are kept in cages, how will they fend for themselves?

  • @nscrfn83 You havent actually dealt with what i just said.

Animals eat more than store brand kibble. They should be able to find food in the wild. And only dangerous pets need to be kept in cages. Normal pets can be repatriated to the wild or allowed to roam in the surrounding area. If there is no food the animal will probably find some.

  • @Elephantintheroom01 My gliders aren't dangerous and I keep them in a cage for their own safety. You can't turn most domesticated animals out into the wild. They either won't survive or will destroy native species. I could release my cats and they may survive, until they get hit by a car.

So in the end, which is better? Fixing an animal and ensuring it has a home with plenty of food where it is safe, or allowing animals to breed and then releasing unwanted ones where they may or may not survive?

  • @Elephantintheroom01 Keep in mind that not every animal that has been domesticated could be returned to the wild and have it live. That's what domestication does, make the animal dependent upon humans, so letting them go and try to survive in the wild would just be cruel to the animal.

  • @nscrfn83 No. Thats just a myth.

Its like saying that humans are domesticated and couldnt survive in the wild. They'd have to learn or die. Better than the other options because theres atleast a chance of success.

  • @nscrfn83 Domesticating is just taking an animal to your house and trying to make it a part of your family. That doesn't make it dependent or a lesser creature.

  • @gdog48001 Wrong. Domestication is a biological process. Dependence does have genetic impacts. Take dogs, for instance. Dogs are descendants of the grey wolf, but have "domesticated" coat patterns and are friendlier towards humans. Animals like chickens, cows, wool sheep, and some dogs would pretty much go extinct without human protection, as they lost their tools and instincts for survival in their natural habitats in the domestication process.

  • @SirPranc3lot And that's how the pigs we breed for meat that escape turn back into feral hogs. Or cats, turn into feral cats. No. They still would survive givin the correct environment. The same way i could find a coyote pup out in the wild. Keep it, raise it, and it will be friendly towards me, then one day release it. The "Domestication process" that your talking about is called selective breeding, for colors and features. They don't just get like that cause they are next to ppl

  • @gdog48001 No, if you capture a coyote pup and try to raise it, it will be friendly to you for the first week of its life until it starts developing adrenaline, which causes aggression and self defensive behaviour. The coyote pup would growl, bite, and certainly not wag his tail at you. The "feral" term you use has nothing to do with genetics. Selectively bred animals have "unnatural" coat patterns because of the loss of adrenaline hormone.

  • @SirPranc3lot Na, my last pet coyote was cool. You don't know what your talking about

  • @gdog48001 You wouldn't be able to JUST release a hand fed coyote pup out into the wild if you had been feeding it dead food and not nurturing its instincts. It wouldn't know how to properly hunt. I'm not saying some domestic animals can't be released, I'm saying that MOST can't because they DON'T have the natural instincts needed to survive. They aren't used to surviving on their own and most will DIE before they learn that.

  • @nscrfn83 What other steps would you take releasing it.. Thats a lot of assumptions on how i would raise a wild coyote pup for release, and yea if you drop your pet Labrador out in the wild. It will most likely die. Derpderpderpderpderp

  • @gdog48001 So saying that means that domesticating is MORE than just taking an animal home and taking care of it, which means that domesticated animals are different from wild ones. Domestic animals DO become dependent.

It would depend on how the coyote pup is raised. If its made to hunt live food there isn't much more you would have to do, but if its hand fed food (as in no hunting) you would have to make sure it can hunt before being released or it would be LIKE releasing a domestic animal.

  • @nscrfn83 Your retarded. Your wrong. Get over it.

  • @gdog48001 I was unaware that making valid points in an argument made one retarded and wrong.

  • @nscrfn83 invalid points. do a little research. im done trying to explain how genetics work to an retarded kid

  • @gdog48001 How are they invalid? How were you trying to explain genetics? And I have done a little research, enough to feel confident speaking about the subject. If I'm wrong, then please feel free to provide PROOF that I'm wrong instead of name calling and acting childish.

  • @nscrfn83 Do you even remember what you were trying to tell me? You were saying that a domestic animals genes were different from a non domesticated one of the same species and that the gene changing makes it so they cant survive in the wild... Dumb. Not responding to any more of your comments.

  • @gdog48001 I was unaware we were talking about genes. I was talking about instincts. Although their genetics are different, but that's a different subject. I NEVER said it was their genes that made them unable to survive, I was saying it's their LACK of instinct.

  • @nscrfn83 So i just realized your a different person that picked up that other persons argument. So i kinda feel like a dick. But no shit Shurlock if they lack proper instincts they will die.. What the fuck.. Thats a givin. If a animal cant learn in the wild they will die.. Moral of the story i can raise any animal from birth. Release it and if givin the correct environment it will survive. It happens all the time...

  • @nscrfn83 whats the name of that one lion those British people got? idk. But thats the same kinda thing how an animal can be domesticated to people. Released and thrive in the wild. Even a few years later they came out into the desert to find their pet and the lion recognized them. The lion even introduced his wild pride members to his old caretakers. Which is neat

  • @nscrfn83 But yea. Domestication doesn't mean they lack instinct.. People may want a pet to be just like a person.. Weird.. But they never will be.

  • @gdog48001 I never claimed they lacked instinct, just the instinct needed to survive in the wild. I completely agree that if given the right environment and raised right, a domestic animal could be released. Same goes for a wild animal that was human raised. If those needed instincts are nurtured and the environment favors them, any domestic animal could be released. It's cool, confusion happens. I took no offense, was just massively confused. I was like "Genetics? When did we talk about that?"

  • @gdog48001 I'm very aware domestication doesn't take away instincts, I did a paper in college on how truly wild animals (bears, tigers, lions, etc...) shouldn't be brought into a house and treated like a cat or dog because after thousands of years we still haven't removed their natural instincts, and never will. My biggest analogy was that a house cat hunting a bug. Put a lion in your house and the cat has multiplied in size 20+ times and you become the bug.

  • @nokeo91 if you look at the very middle of his head you can see where the spot is developing

  • OMFG NOW I WANT ONE!

  • that jump was epic!

  • Keep pressing 1 over & over and it break dances! o3o lol

  • I wanna squish it so bad.

  • awesome! i have done a lot of googling on them and i also have a pet rat. My rat pees on me alll the time!!! Do sugar's do that i heard they pee a lot on you

  • @Brook790349 Unfortunately you cannot litter train a sugar glider. but they usually do their business right after they wake up, so you have a window of time to be safe!

  • Sooooo cuuuuuute.

  • gotta catch em all!

  • that is a naturally wild animal you are training. kudos to you seriously thats really hard to do and he seemed very responsive:)

    very cute btw

  • THAT is fantastic. kudos

  • they seem to be rather jumping than gliding. x3

  • @aznlovergurl123 yes it seems that, but they actually dont have strong leg muscles. without the gliding, theyd fall that quickly.....but straight down haha

  • Awweh! =3

  • What does the pokedex say about its power level?

  • @strikerk Over 9000.

  • i used to own two, i was little and my uncle gave them to my mom, i dont remember exactly what happened, i think they flew away though....they were kept outside are the good outside? (i lived in florida at the time, and still do)

  • are they costly here in the UK?

  • Y U NO MINE!!!

  • how much are they

  • I'm sorry but that has to be one of THE cutest little animals I've ever seen! :-) I don't suppose we'd be allowed to keep anything like that as a pet over here in the UK. What are they like as pets? Can they show affection? Obviously you can teach them tricks.

  • @6Jillybeans They are definitely allowed in the UK. But you have to be willing to give them constant affection and attention. It's better to get two of them. They can get very lonely. Just be sure to find a very good breeder and do lots of research on diet and care. Don't be afraid to ask the breeders questions. If they are good ones, they will want their babies to be happy more than anything.

  • @6Jillybeans they pee and poop on you, make noises at night, and scratch you.

  • yo, am i the only one who got scared. if i saw anything like that coming at me in the air i wuld have screamed and ducked. reall talk lol. they're cute though. i was thinkingof getting one but now i'm having second thoughts, they like bark and make noise and i hear they do that at night too and idk if i culd take that? Idk i'm looking for a pet i just don't know what kind is good for me.

  • That would have been a real dick move if you pulled your hand away while he was in mid jump.

  • @DaveRawrr I wouldve laughed. Really hard.

  • @DaveRawrr He would have just landed on her pant leg/shirt and climbed up. ^^

  • 2 cute

  • Ugh

    So cute

I work at a vet and we have one too

Anda flying squirrel and a pet deer
