  • Question: is it possible to rest the tubing in a plastic tub- like, you can soak the dishes in the plastic tub as a sink, then spray water from it on the dishes- that way you're using up the gray water?

  • @angelcarnivore Grr-eat question. Yes you can put it in any container and have it work. I think I might try that myself. Thanks for watching!

  • @LoveRise we have a (do it) Best right here where I live in Arizona, I should just go have a look, they are less than 3 miles away from my place. Everyone locally here just calls them "BEST" even though they are called "Do it Best". They are like an Ace hardware type place ... only better imho.

  • Our digital camera/video camera goes through batteries like a power starved grid. So we invested in rechargeable batteries. =)

Do you have a website or blog? We're getting ready to relaunch and would love to read some more of your boondocking ideas! (Sorry if it's listed here somewhere and we missed it.)

  • @CJsKidsClub Thanks for watching! Yes rechargeable batteries are the way to go. I even bought a decent AA solar battery charger. Not cheap but reliable which I can even hang off of my backpack to keep my batts. charged for my steripen and headlamp and cameras. I don't have a blog or website and will continue to post my ideas and explorations here on youtube. With much appreciation...Laurie

  • Can you actually shower with it or just do dishes etc.

  • @ENGLISH888biz Thanks for watching, you can shower, wash the dog, wash your kayak off and have a nice bit of pressure to clean things off. "Make the journey worthy of the destination"...Laurie

  • Can you actually shower with it or just do dishes etc.

  • I wanna go vandwelling with you....lol

  • @paddyboy12432 well then you should check out the Rubber Tramp Rendezvous in January in Quartzite Arizona where many vandwellers will be connecting. It's free and you CAN car camp or backpack and tent in the desert as well. So pack up your fall back pack set up and head out to this inspirational gathering!

  • Good for you! My best advice is to check out an inspirational and insightful nuts and bolts type of site for vandwelling on Yahoo Groups called Vandwellers. "Make the journey worthy of the destination"...Laurie

  • Shower Gun Update:

So I am still using this system in my camper yet I no longer use chlorine as the second rinse for two reasons. First, it was a bit of a hassle switching over the cap to the second bottle and I like things to be quick in easy especially when I'm living and traveling in a small space. Second, I just redeocorated my camper and laid new carpet and I don't want to risk getting chlorine spray on the carpet so I am using 91% alcohol in a spray bottle for the final rinse!

  • Hi

I watched this video and ordered one on Amazon. I put the hose with cap in a wide mouth half gallon juice pitcher. Then I used the sprayer and it worked. It did take a moment to build up enough suction to work. But it proves that the cap (lid) does not need to fit on the water container opener. The cap will work even though it is emersed in the water. Thanks for sharing. I will use this sprayer for many uses along with my tradional hand-pump water faucet. Bye, Sharon R.

  • Sharon! That is really insightful feedback. It hadn't even occured to me that I could just drop it into a pail of water, or a bottle with a much larger opening and use it. But of course...duh...why not! Thank you so much for posting that discovery because it opens up other potential uses! Celebrate Life, Laurie

  • Hey thanx for watching! The cap that comes with the shower gun is 'suppose' to be a universal thread but I haven't found any bottles it fits exactly. So you can find a bottle you want to use and drill a hole through the cap which will allow you to use any bottle.

  • Laurie this is a great idea. I like that it uses AA batteries I also have a set of rechargeables for my camera. Hardware store that carry Do it Best aren't too hard to find. Look in the Yellow Pages if you still have one of those old paper phone books LOL. Even if the store doesn't have one of these in stock I bet they would be willing to order one and that would save a little on shipping. I think I'll swing by the closest one when I get some time and pick oue of these cool gadgets up.

  • Hey Buddy...thanks for checking this out. I really love it especially because it takes soooo little space and I can choose what size water bottle I want to use. When I used the pump sprayer previously it took up alot of space even for the half gallon size and honestly I did get tired of always having to pump it up to get the correct pressure. I use aa batteries in everything so I always have them on hand. With much appreciation! Laurie

  • I have one of these sprayers it works great.

I might use it as a power squirt gun or something. it shoots pretty far.

  • Thanks for watching! I love mine and I don't even bother filling my tanks and using my hand pump in my camper any longer. I just fill a portable bottle and attach the shower for cleaning and showering.

  • You have a folding bike? Me, too. Great minds work alike, I guess.

I always keep an old blown tube around for shims and things; that's why I suggested a "non-working" tube.

  • Indeed....Grr-eat minds!!

  • I came up with another way of dealing with the issue about sealing the cap onto a gallon jug. If you fix your own bicycles or someone near you does, there's probably an old (non-usable) tube lying around. If the tube is for about a 2" diameter tire, cut it across to make a circle. That should fit around the lid well enough to seal it pretty well.

  • That is an AWESOME idea! I even have a brand new tire tube that is 2 inches for my Folding bike that I could use. Very inventive!!

  • Pretty cool. I need to get one of those. Nice strong sturdy hands and 3:14 seems like good exercise :-)

  • Thanks for watching! And I appreciate your comment though I think you and I both know there are more fun ways to get that type of exercise...wink...wink!

Celebrating strong hands and longgg fingers!...Laurie

  • I will indeed offer to shampoo her hair! She's pretty receptive to my ideas, but that one has been a blocker. I'm a communication major in college (at age 53); keep on communicating what you have; you never know who's reading or listening.

  • Yes I agree, communication is key both on and off Youtube and I especially appreciate your reminder which I need to embrace wholeheartedly today. Warmly, Laurie

  • Thanks, Laurie! I thinks this is probably the best mobile shower idea I've seen in years of looking. My wife insists on a running-water type of shower, and I think this will work. I will combine with heating the water (no biggie) and adapting the lids of other containers as needed (no biggie either, even for non-mechanical me).

  • That is very exciting and I appreciate the accolade! I think your wife might take to the idea a bit better if you offer to shampoo her hair for the first time with the system. That might make her more receptive...wink...wink. Thanks for watching and sharing that you will try this system after seeing the video. Makes me feel like I've made a difference by creating it. With much gratitude...Laurie

  • Helpful video ~ good information! I especially enjoyed seeing a bit of your camper!!! :) Would love to see a video of the interior & exterior of your Burro! :) Glad you are doing well. Blessings to you sis! ~Brenda

  • Hey Soul Sista! I am soooo glad you got to see this video because I really think it would work well for you when you take your van on the road. Thanks for the comments on the Burro and I have footage....somewhere....that I hope to find so I can edit to share a virtual tour of my humble 'room of one's own'. Love Ya...Laurie!

  • Hey - I tried to leave this message with my other sign on but it appears to have failed. I use one from Cabelas with a dishpan in a shower shelter. Works great. If the msg is a duplicate, please forgive. Yours has much more force and appears to use less water, so is quite attractive from that perspective and the switch is right where you want it too. :) I'm glad you posted the link in tentcamping.

  • Thanks for watching and sharing about the Cabelas! I'll have to check that out. I am also quite impressed with the force of the water flow that comes from being powered by the 4aa batteries. I have tried many compact systems but I feel this is the most functional for car camping and rving. And you are right it does help conserve water which is a big plus!! Celebrate Life!...Laurie

  • Very resourceful Laurie.

It looks to me that you can replace the yellow cap with what ever cap you wish just by drilling a hole in the top of the new cap for the tubing. The little white pickup at the end of the tube should just pull out of the tube so that the tube can be inserted through the cap. Once the tube is inserted through the cap you can replace the white pickup.

  • Thanks for watching! That is a great suggestion that I think will work providing you also drill a little breather hole in the cap to allow flow. I was remiss in not showing a close up of the yellow cap which on the other side not shown has a breather hole. I like the way you think and may try your idea if I find a bottle that might fit better in my RV. With much appreciation, Laurie

  • As an alternative to pumping water, air pressurise your water store from time to time using either a battery powered tyre pump or a bicycle pump. You would need to fit a pressure valve to the sealed tank and a trigger water valve with hose on the exit. In UK we have polykegs for cyder and home brewing which make suitable pressurised tanks of 5gal(UK). For smaller stores a mini-keg looks suitable. Using a pressurised system lets you keep the noise down for stealth mode.

  • Hey Beebopper nice to hear from you again and as always you are a wealth of information. I really appreciate you sharing your insightful commentary. I personally don't use my holding tanks that much because I tow my 17 foot Burro travel trailer with a subaru which is probably maxed out on tow weight. So whenever I can I travel with my tanks empty even while camping finding it easier to refill my 2 gallon jug then filling the tank and then needing to empty it.

  • @LoveRise Wow - your Subaru is working pretty hard for you - great cars - see them in mass numbers at every trailhead.

  • Indeed! Considering it has over 171,000 miles on it and is rated to tow 2500 pounds with the Forresters 4 cyl. engine it is pretty impressive. I've traveled to the tip of Baja to the Mountains of Banff and it's been a trouper all without a transmission cooler which did prevent me from getting up the mountains to see Jasper in British Colombia without overheating but everywhere else it's been a trouper!

  • Cool gadget :o) Where do you find those?

  • Hey thanks for watching and you can order them at Amazon! Let me know what you think when you try it out.

    Until then...celebrate life!...Laurie

  • For your shower needs, I'd try a no-rinse shampoo. You'll have to search for it as YT won't let me post the link.

  • @shuckymomo That's a great idea especially when water is at a premium! Thanks for watching!

    Warmly...Laurie

  • Wow that gadget really does give a good spray w/o using much water. Maybe a shower can be taken in an RV with that thing if you first heated the water. I might try it this winter in the desert. I did wish I could have seen a little bit more of Narsisica in this one video.

  • Thanks Leila it turns out to be a very practical gadget that you certainly could use with warm water either heated on your stove or in the sun to save on fuel to take a shower. You'd probably never have to refill your tanks in Quartzsite next winter!!...Laughing

  • Nice find - I'm getting one for our pop-up camper. Thanks for sharing another great idea Laurie!

  • @wawhiker You've got a pop up camper? Funny, I have a pop up trailer :o)

  • Seems like campers are 'popping up' all over:-)...smiling!

  • @LoveRise I was "popping up" before I started backpacking - both are so much fun!

  • @Ggreenvideos Actually, ours is a PUP - a pop up trailer too :o)

  • Hey thanks for watching wawhiker! I always appreciate your feedback!

    Celebrate Life!

    Laurie
