Whenever I listen to this, I cry. Ryoko is my favorite character, and they got rid of her. She's so pretty, cool and awesome, and has the most self-control. And they got rid of her. The "Just let me fade out, like the dying notes of this last dance. Fading, fading, free me from these strings." really got to me, and is what always makes me cry, because I get reminded that Ryoko dies. And she's alright with it. Totally my role model. I don't care if she was trying to kill, she of the best.

It also meant that there is no need to introduce another character. I doubt there is a 'big' psychological background since she wanted the main fellow to be by her side anyway, and he is the only one who could have a problem with Asakura.

Don't know if they elaborated that at all in the books, I lost my translation a long time before finishing it.

It seems to me like she (and all other of the aliens) just wants human emotions and affection, but instead of pursuing it like Yuki does, she's closed herself off, possibly out of fear. Whether that be of the Data Entity or even of just humanly being hurt, I can't tell. I'd like to believe the latter though.
