It can be done easier! The garnish is mostly supposed to tell you what the drink contains. You can for example use orange or lime for a cosmopolitan etc...

its easier too jut say lemon in vodka and gin, lime in bourbon and rum, most other things dont really matter too much and you can normally go by the mixer. also its three olives in a martini because they are meant too be drunk in 3 sips.

Flag is both a cherry and orange garnish, it's usually added to any drink ending with sour.
