@kbhasikevin well win 7 starter is tailor-made for PC with crappy atom processors, which aren't good for 3D games or watching HD movies. Win 7 is basically win XP home edition, with the stability and safeness of win 7 home premium, so it will run on low spec hardware like pentium 4 processors, or atom processors, while still being reliable and quick.

W7 home edition is much more demanding because of aero (your ati 9250 won't support aero anyway)

I think Pentium 4 processors are great. If they had the Memory Speeds and Videos Cards we see today they would still be in use. I have a few P4's that are pretty nice gaming rigs after you give them a good supporting cast. I will eternally love P4 lol

And that real extra core, makes an ocean of difference. Its like trying to compute having only 80% the power you need, vs. having 160% of the power you need. Pair up old AM2 X2 with a used ebay $15 nvidia 7800gtx, and 4gb dirt cheap sticks of DDR2 RAM & win7, and your machine rocks everything except video editing.

Granted the specs are low but they're quite well balanced, also is the fact that this machine has a proper graphics card rather than in onboard one. All in all im not surprised it runs ok, these specs aren't that bad also Windows 7 was designed by Microsoft to run on a vast range of specs including netbooks so your computer would be more than good enough to run it.

That works too. There are many CRT screens with resolutions that far exceed 1080p, believe it or not. They have better color too, but they take up more space and can hurt your eyes if you don't have the refresh rate set to enough "HertZ".

actually windows 7 boot is faster by quite a bit on systems than other windows versions provided you have a gig of ram or more. but i do agree linux and ubuntu etc are much quicker, but they arent much for gaming so really its all up to preference and what you use the pc for

You get my point im running a fully functional wirless server all running on a 10year old laptop, and a little help from linux XD
